ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES FOR THE MASTERS PROGRAMS:

1. APPLICATION PROCEDURE – Submit to the Office of Admissions a completed application form, prior to deadline dates, accompanied by the
appropriate fee. Foreign students are required to submit an official evaluation of his/her academic credentials by a recognized agency specialized
in this activity.

2. OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS - Request that official transcripts of all undergraduate and all previous graduate study be sent directly to the Office of
Admissions. Applicants to the master's level program must have obtained a bachelor degree from an institution accredited by a regional or
national accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; or an institution of higher education located outside of the United
States, which, at the time the applicant was enrolled, maintained a standard of training substantially equivalent to the standards of training of
those institutions in the United States which are accredited by a body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Failure to report
previous college and/or graduate work attended constitutes a falsification of application which will result in the losss of all
credits earned and may result in dismissal.

3. GRADE POINT AVERAGE - The applicant will be considered academically eligible for admission if undergraduate transcripts with a minimum
cumulative grade point average of 3.00 for the Industrial Organizational Program or 3.25 for the Speech and Language Pathology Program, or its
equivalent, from an accredited college are presented. This is the general cumulative GPA, not the concentration or graduation GPA.

4. RECOMMENDATION LETTERS - Request three letters of recommendation, preferably from past professors. Students who have applied to
graduate programs and have taken the pre-requisite courses must submit only two (2) letters of recommendation from the professors with whom
they took the courses. Applicants are required to use UCA’s official Recommendation Letter Form.

5. BILINGUALISM CERTIFICATE - Sign the Bilingualism Certificate. This document is part of the Admission Application. Applicants are expected to
have adequate reading, writing and conversational skills in English and Spanish.

6. HEALTH CERTIFICATE – Submit a current health certificate (no more than six months old) and evidence of vaccination for hepatitis-B.

7. RESUME/VITAE - Submit a current resume or curriculum vitae that contains at least: name, current address, high school attended and
graduation year, colleges and universities attended and graduation year (if applicable), work experiences (if any), personal interests and
emergency contact.

8. ADMISSION PRE-REQUISITES FOR PSYCHOLOGY PROGRAMS - Applicants to graduate psychology programs with a bachelor degree other
than psychology, will be required to approve courses in five specific areas: Experimental Psychology, Statistics, Physiological Psychology,
Personality Theories and Abnormal Psychology. These courses may be taken as pre-requisites at SJC or any other accredited institution. Applicants
to the Industrial/Organizational Program that does not meet the minimum criteria of 3.00, may opt to take those pre-requisites not previously
taken at the bachelors level and which, if approved with a grade of A or B, will improve his/her grade point average to the required minimum.

9. ADMISSION PRE-REQUISITES FOR SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY PROGRAM - Applicants to the MS in Speech and Language
Pathology Program with a bachelor degree other than speech and Language Therapy, will be required to approve courses in five specific areas:
Nature and Needs of the Exceptional Child, Human Growth and Development, Basic Statistics, Grammar and Physical Sciences. The course of
Basic Statistics is mandatory for every applicant, regardless of his or her concentration. CAU offers the courses of Human Growth and
Development (BP-403), Nature and Needs of the Exceptional Child (SLT-464), Statistics in Psychology (BP-408), in substitution of Basic
Statistics, Compendium of Report Writing and Editing (BP-443), in substitution of Grammar, and Acoustic and Psychoacoustic Aspects of Sound
and Voice Reception and Perception (SLT-445), in substitution of Physical Sciences.

10. ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE - The Master's Programs of the San Juan Campus of Carlos Albizu University require an interview with the Admissions
Committee. Only applicants who give evidence, in the judgment of the Admissions Committee of possessing intellectual, emotional and social
qualities necessary to successfully complete the requirements of the Master's programs will be considered for admission.

11. PRE-ADMISSION ACADEMIC WORK - Transfer courses must have been taken at an institution which is fully accredited by a regional or national
accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education or an institution of higher education located outside the United States,
which at the time the applicant was enrolled maintained a standard of training substantially equivalent to the standards of training of those
institutions in the United States which are accredited by a body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

12. PRE-ADMISSION TESTS - Carlos Albizu University requires that every applicant to a graduate program submits the results from the G.R.E. or
EXADEP. Even though these results are not used for admission purposes, except in the case of the MS in Speech and Language Pathology, the
Faculty and Administration uses them for research, statistical and accreditation purposes. The student will be considered a debtor of
documents until he or she complies with this requirement.
o In the case of applicants to the MS in Speech and Language Pathology Program a minimum score of 300 points in the EXADEP
(‘‘Examen de Admisión a Estudios de Posgrado’’) is required. This score is taken into consideration when computing the
admission quotient.

13. IDENTITY VERIFICATION - For identity verification purposes the applicant will be required to present a current ID card subsequent to admission.

obtenerse en la Escuela de Derecho o podrá solicitarse por correo a cualquiera de

2. La fecha límite para solicitar admisión para la sesión que comienza en agosto es el
15 de abril del año en curso el 15 de mayo para solicitud tardía. La fecha límite
para solicitar admisión en la sesión de enero es el 30 de septiembre del semestre
anterior.
3. Ser mayor de 18 años.
4. Tener un bachillerato de una universidad debidamente acreditada.
5. Pagar una cuota de solicitud de admisión de $75.00 y $80.00 en caso de solicitud
tardía, pagadera en giro postal o cheque certificado a la orden de la Pontificia
Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico. La cuota de solicitud de admisión no es
reembolsable y deberá venir acompañada de la solicitud.
6. Transcripción oficial de créditos de bachillerato y de otros estudios graduados.
7. Fluidez en español e inglés.
8. Dos fotografías tamaño 2 X 2.
9. Tres cartas de recomendación. Dos de las cartas deben ser de profesores del
solicitante y la otra carta de un miembro del Colegio de Abogados de Puerto Rico.
Estas cartas de recomendación deberán contener comentarios sobre las habilidades
académicas, el carácter moral, reputación comunitaria, logros significativos,
incluyendo actividades extracurriculares y la experiencia de trabajo previa del
solicitante. Estas cartas deben enviarse directamente a la Escuela de Derecho.
10. Copia de la tarjeta del Seguro Social.
11. Certificado de Antecedentes Penales.
12. Dos “labels” impresos con su nombre y dirección postal.
13. Tomar los exámenes de admisión a la Escuela de Derecho: el Law School
Admission Test (LSAT) y el Exámen de Admisión a Estudios de Posgrado
(EXADEP), que administra el Educational Testing Service.
14. Comparecer a entrevista ante el Comité de Admisiones cuando sea citado.

Además de los requisitos antes mencionados, el estudiante deberá tomar compulsoriamente,


durante el mes de julio, el Seminario Introductorio al Estudio del Derecho que habrá de
facilitar su integración y adaptación. Este seminario también se ofrece en diciembre para
los estudiantes que comienzan en enero.

La Oficina de Admisiones y Registraduría tiene un sistema de notificación por correo


diseñado con el propósito de mantener al estudiante bien informado del progreso de su
solicitud. Sin embargo, es responsabilidad del solicitante asegurarse de que su solicitud está
en orden y al día.

Los estudiantes que por alguna razón hayan sido dados de baja involuntariamente de otra
escuela de Derecho, no son elegibles para ser admitidos en la Escuela de Derecho de la
Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico.

El no informar que estuvo matriculado en otra escuela de Derecho, será causa suficiente
para dar de baja inmediatamente al estudiante.

Horario de Oficina

Las horas regulares de la Oficina de Registraduría durante los semestres académicos son las
siguientes:
De lunes a viernes de 8:00 a.m. a 12:00 m. y de 1:00 p.m. a 4:00 p.m. También puede

Pruebas Requeridas

La prueba del “Law School Admission Test” (LSAT) que administra el Law School
Admission Services y el Exámen de Admisión a Estudios de Posgrado (EXADEP) que
administra el Educational Testing Service, se ofrecen varias veces al año en centros
escogidos en diferentes partes de Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos y en algunos otros países. El
formulario de solicitud y los boletines informativos pueden obtenerse en la Escuela de
Derecho o escribiendo directamente a:

Al llenar la solicitud del EXADEP, el candidato debe pedir al Educational Testing Service
que envíe los resultados directamente a la Escuela.

Para tomar estas pruebas no se necesita tener preparación especial. Ambos exámenes se
deben tomar durante el año académico anterior al semestre para el cual se solicita admisión,
es decir, al menos con seis (6) meses de anterioridad. De esta manera los resultados serán
recibidos a tiempo en la Escuela y estarán disponibles cuando el candidato sea evaluado.

Depósito

Para propósitos de asegurarle el asiento, el estudiante deberá enviar un depósito de $300.00


pagadero a la PUCPR luego de notificado de su admisión. El depósito se acreditará al
importe total de la matrícula y no es reembolsable de usted no matricularse.
