Dalat Palace Golf Location

The 18-hole Dalat Palace Golf Club is located on the pine hill that overlooks Xuan Huong
Lake. It is the only golf court in South East Asia with bent grass tees, fairways and greens
considered the ultimate playing surface in golf. A golf retreat soothes the senses, invigorates
the body and calms the mind.

History Dalat Palace Golf - One of the oldest golf club

in Asia
 The renowned French architect, Ernest Hebrard, established Dalat Palace Golf Club
since 1922.
 Around 1930, the renowned golf court architecture firm, Colt & Alison, listed the
“Ville de Dalat” in “Indo China” as one of the courts in their worldwide portfolio.
 However, the golf court in Dalat was officially open for play in 1932 when Bao Dai,
the country’s most prominent golf supporter, came back to Vietnam.
 The court is promoted in English-language brochure in 1933.
 At the time of Bao Dai’s abdication in 1945, the court at Dalat was abandoned and was
overwhelmed by local vegetarian.
 The layout’s savior, a medical doctor named Dao Huy Hach, revived the court, in the
late 1959. In 15 years restoration, doctor Hach re-established the original nine holes and
began construction of a second nine with the free assistance of the USGA. About 3
million VND (US$17,000) was spent to bring back the court and clubhouse - a Le
Tourquet style villa that is one of hundreds the French built in Dalat throughout the
1930s and 1940s.
 In 1960s, golf club had about 40 members, most from the embassy staffs and foreign
construction companies in the area.
 In1965, these nine holes were open for play - with a sand and motor oil mix standing in
for grass on the greens

 In early 1966, the champion of the U.S. Open at San Francisco’s Olympic Club, Casper
played the court on a tour of Vietnam organized by the U.S. State Department.
 From 1975 to 1993, the court was left to grow over once again.
 In 1993, a joint venture project between Danao International Holdings Limited (US
based) and Lam Dong Province resulted in the renovation of the first nine holes and the
completion of the second nine.
 The court was christened Dalat Pine Lake Golf Club in 1993,
 Then the court became Dalat Palace Golf Club in 1995.
