/ A Embraer recebeu a certificação na categoria pleno,
conformidade e segurança, do Programa Brasileiro
de Operador Econômico Autorizado (OEA). O selo foi
entregue em evento realizado pela Receita Federal,
em conjunto com a Aliança Pró-Modernização Logística
de Comércio Exterior (Procomex) e a Confederação
Nacional das Indústrias (CNI).
Segundo o secretário Jorge Rachid, “a iniciativa
é da Receita Federal, contribuindo para a qualidade
do ambiente de negócios e a competitividade no País".
Essa segunda fase do OEA, denominada OEA-
Conformidade, tem como foco a certificação das
empresas e organizações que atuam no comércio
exterior que, mediante cumprimento voluntário
das obrigações tributárias e aduaneiras, demonstrem
atendimento aos mais rigorosos níveis de conformidade
e confiabilidade exigidos.

According to Secretary Jorge Rachid, “the initiative

country." This second phase of the OEA, called OEA-
Conformidade (Compliance), focuses on the certification
of companies and organizations operating in foreign trade
who, through voluntary compliance with tax and customs
obligations, demonstrate conformity with more stringent
levels of compliance and required reliability.

horas voadas. No total, a campanha de ensaios está
prevista para durar em torno de dois anos.
A montagem do segundo protótipo foi concluída
recentemente e a aeronave deverá se juntar à
campanha de ensaios em voo nas próximas semanas.
A Embraer espera receber a certificação do jato
KC-390 até o final de 2017, com as primeiras entregas
da aeronave previstas para o primeiro semestre de
2018. O KC-390 é uma aeronave multimissão projetada
para estabelecer novos padrões na sua categoria,
apresentando ao mesmo tempo o menor custo do
ciclo de vida do mercado.

extremely well in the last few months, validating the
performance and robustness designed for the aircraft
in the digital models. Since the resumption of flights, on
October 26, 2015, the KC-390 prototype has accumulated
more than 100 flight hours. In total, the flight test
campaign is expected to last around two years.
The assembly of the second prototype was recently
completed and the aircraft will join the flight test
campaign in the coming weeks.
Embraer expects to receive the certification of the
KC-390 jet by the end of 2017 with the first deliveries
of the aircraft scheduled for the first half of 2018. The
KC-390 is a multi-mission aircraft designed to set new
standards in its class while delivering the lowest life
cycle cost in the market.

selecionado por 13 forças aéreas no mundo todo.

brasileiro fez todos os convidados ficarem em pé, dando início à cerimônia de apresentação do jato E190-E2. Menos
de três anos após o lançamento dos E-Jets E2, a Embraer apresentou publicamente o primeiro integrante desta
tão esperada segunda geração de jatos comerciais. O evento, com direito a show aéreo, contou com a presença
de autoridades, clientes, fornecedores, imprensa e mais de 5 mil funcionários da Embraer.

three years after the release of the E-Jets E2, Embraer publicly introduced the first member of this long-awaited
second generation of commercial jets. The event included an air show, was attended by officials, customers,
suppliers, press and over 5000 employees of Embraer.

brindados com show aéreo que contou a história da
Embraer por meio de suas aeronaves. Ipanema, Brasilia,
os jatos ERJ 135, E190, Legacy 500, Phenom 300, além do
KC-390, escoltado pela Esquadrilha da Fumaça a bordo
dos turboélices Super Tucano.
Ao sair do hangar, as novas asas, mais alongadas e com
perfil aerodinâmico diferenciado, e o tamanho do novo
motor logo se destacaram. O avião apresentado é o
primeiro dos quatro protótipos que serão usados na
campanha de certificação. A expectativa agora é para
o primeiro voo do E190-E2, prevista para os próximos
meses. A entrada em serviço do novo modelo está
programada para 2018.
CONSUMO DE COMBUSTÍVEL REDUZIDO
No voo inaugural do E190–E2 serão postos à prova os
novos motores de última geração e alto desempenho
PurePowerTM Geared Turbofan PW1900G da Pratt &
Whitney (no E175-E2 será o PW1700G e no E195-E2, também
o PW1900G). A maior eficiência destes propulsores, aliada
a melhorias na parte aerodinâmica da aeronave, como
novas asas, vai garantir uma boa redução de consumo
de combustível e, consequentemente, de emissão de CO2.
Os E-Jets E2 oferecerão uma redução de consumo de
combustível de até 24%.

geração também contribui para tornar o avião mais
eficiente e seguro”, comentou na cerimônia Luís Carlos
Affonso, Vice-Presidente de Operações da Embraer
Aviação Comercial, sobre algumas das mudanças entre
as gerações de E-Jets.
Outros benefícios dos E2 são a redução também nas
emissões e a diminuição de até 50% no nível de ruído,
além de menores custos de manutenção, que podem
representar uma economia acima de dois dígitos.
A otimização do consumo de combustível fará com que
o E190-E2 realize voos ainda mais longos graças a um
aumento na autonomia de quase 20% em relação ao
modelo da geração atual, o que garantirá um alcance
adicional de 800 km, totalizando mais de 5 mil km.
O E190-E2 terá o mesmo número de assentos do atual
E190, podendo ser configurado com 97 lugares em duas
classes de serviço, ou 106 em classe única.
Juntamente com o melhor desempenho, o que vai
chamar a atenção dos pilotos será a nova cabine, com
opcionais como o “head-up display”, já disponível na atual
geração de E-jets. A tecnologia de ponta também será
empregada para garantir a comunalidade com a geração
atual e atender a um dos anseios dos clientes da Embraer
sobre a nova geração de aviões comerciais. Por isso,
foi adotado o sistema integrado de aviônica Honeywell
Primus Epic 2, uma evolução do sistema usado nos jatos
atualmente. Assim, ficam garantidos os benefícios de
maturidade e confiabilidade já conquistados na primeira
geração de E-Jets, além de diminuir os custos de
treinamento para pilotos que migrarem para os E-Jets E2.
Este sistema da Honeywell já incorpora o Next Generation
Flight Managememt System, ou Sistema de Gestão de
Voo de Nova Geração, que já vem sendo desenvolvido
na atual família E-Jet e permitirá maior capacidade
de planejamento de voo e navegação e melhora no
desempenho da aeronave.
A segunda geração de jatos comerciais da Embraer
também traz melhorias para aumentar o conforto dos
passageiros, mantendo o padrão e a comodidade que se
tornaram referência nos E-Jets. Uma das novidades é o
maior espaço nos compartimentos de bagagem de mão,
que aumentaram em torno de 30%.

REFORÇAR A LIDERANÇA
O programa E2 reforça o compromisso da Embraer
em investir continuamente na linha de jatos comerciais.
Com ele, a Embraer pretende manter a sólida liderança
no segmento de 70 a 130 assentos, em que detém 50%
do total de vendas. Trata-se de um segmento que
movimentará um volume de cerca de 6.350 novas
aeronaves nos próximos 20 anos.
“É especial ajudar a escrever mais um capítulo da
história da Embraer com a apresentação do E190-E2.
Tenho certeza que o interesse do mercado em relação
ao E2 vai aumentar muito a partir de agora”, disse
emocionado Paulo Cesar de Souza e Silva, Presidente
& CEO da Embraer Aviação Comercial.
Os primeiros números indicam que o E2 está no caminho
certo para repetir o grande sucesso da atual geração
de E-Jets, que opera com cerca de 70 clientes em 50
países. Desde o seu lançamento, a nova família de jatos
comerciais já conquistou uma carteira com 267 pedidos
firmes e 373 opções e direitos de compra.

consumption will cause the E190-E2 to perform even
longer flights by increasing the autonomy by almost 20%
as compared to the current generation model, which will
ensure an additional reach of 800 km, totaling more than
5 thousand km. The E190-E2 will have the same number
of seats as the current E190, and can be configured with
97 seats in two classes, or 106 in a single class.
Along with better performance, which will draw the
attention of pilots, is the new cabin, with options such as
the "heads-up" display, already available in the current
generation E-jets. The advanced technology will also be
used to ensure commonality with the current generation
and address one of Embraer's customer desires about the
new generation of commercial aircraft. That is why the
Honeywell Primus Epic 2 integrated avionics system was
adopted—an evolution of the system currently used in
jets. Thus, the benefits of maturity and reliability already
achieved in the first generation of E-Jets are guaranteed,

The second generation of Embraer commercial jets also
brings improvements to increase passenger comfort
while maintaining the standard and comfort that have
become a reference in the E-Jets. One of the new
features is the larger space in the carry-on luggage
compartments, which increased by about 30%.
STRENGTHEN LEADERSHIP
The E2 program reinforces Embraer's commitment to
continuously invest in the line of commercial jets. With
it, Embraer intends to maintain strong leadership in the
segment of 70-130 seats, in which it holds 50% of total
sales. This is a segment that will handle a volume of around
6,350 new aircraft over the next 20 years.
"It's special to help write one more chapter in the history
of Embraer with the introduction of the E190-E2. I'm sure
the market interest in the E2 will greatly increase from
now on," said the thrilled Paulo Cesar Silva, President &
CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation.
The first numbers indicate that E2 is on track to repeat
the great success of the current generation E-Jets,
which operates with about 70 customers in 50 countries.
Since its launch, the new family of commercial jets has
won a portfolio with 267 firm orders and 373 options and
purchase rights.

Silva, que desde abril de 2010 é o Presidente & CEO da
Embraer Aviação Comercial. O executivo destacou os
atributos da nova aeronave e a expectativa da chegada
ao mercado. Economista, Silva começou na Embraer
em 1997 como responsável pela área de Financiamento
de Vendas (Customer Financing) e, ao longo dos anos
que se seguiram, participou ativamente de inúmeras
campanhas de vendas e negociações nas três unidades
de negócio da Embraer. Sua experiência nesses anos
foi fundamental para que pudesse, mais tarde, liderar
a aviação comercial, o maior negócio da Empresa. Ele
representou a Embraer no Aviation Working Group,
entidade internacional da indústria aeronáutica, que atua
no desenvolvimento de políticas, iniciativas e mecanismos
oficiais e privados para fomentar e facilitar o acesso a
financiamento e leasing de aeronaves para companhias
aéreas em todo o mundo tendo como um dos principais
objetivos garantir regras de apoio oficial que não
distorçam a competitividade entre os fabricantes
de aeronaves.
1. Qual a avaliação do atual momento da área de
aviação comercial da Embraer?
Os E-Jets são líderes no segmento de jatos até 130
assentos, com mais de 60% de participação de mercado.
Juntamente com os E2, os E-Jets têm atualmente uma
carteira de pedidos firmes de mais 500 aviões, o que
significa cinco anos de produção nos níveis atuais, número
alcançado graças a uma estratégia que contempla quatro
pilares: aumento das companhias de leasing no portfólio,
o que impulsiona o esforço de vendas, a atração de novos
clientes (foram mais de 20 novos nos últimos quatros anos),
a liderança do mercado de 76 assentos nos Estados Unidos
e o fortalecimento da área de serviços e suporte, onde
já somos reconhecidos como benchmark. Vamos manter
esta estratégia para consolidar nossa posição com
a chegada dos E2.

executive highlighted the attributes of the new aircraft
and the market's expectation. An economist, Silva joined
Embraer in 1997 as head of Customer Financing and,
over the years that followed, actively participated in
numerous sales campaigns and negotiations at all three
Embraer business units. His experience throughout the
years was essential to later lead the commercial aviation
department—the largest business of the Company.
He represented Embraer in the Aviation Working Group,
an international organization of the aviation industry,
engaged in the development of policies, initiatives, and
official and private mechanisms to promote and facilitate
access to aircraft financing and leasing to airlines around
the world, having as one of its main objectives to ensure
official support rules that do not distort competition
among aircraft manufacturers.
1. How do you evaluate the current moment of
Embraer's commercial aviation department?
The E-Jets are leaders in the segment of jets up to 130 seats,
with over 60% market share. Along with the E2, the E-Jets
currently have a firm order backlog of over 500 aircraft,
which means five years of production at current levels—a

3. With the reduction in fuel consumption and
maintenance costs, can the E2 conquer new markets?
The E-Jets E2 will be able to achieve cost per seat similar to
larger narrow-body re-engined aircraft, with significantly
less cost per trip, creating opportunities to develop
new markets with low risk and the correct sizing of the
fleet by the airlines. With the addition of three rows, the
E195-E2 will be the lowest operational cost plane of the
second generation. We see the Asia market, in particular,
as a natural destination for this plane, where it will be
able to complement the operation of larger jets in low-
cost airlines.It is important to note that the airlines are
discovering the benefits of jets up to 130 seats. They can help
them overcome the vicious circle of the battle for market
share, focused on unit costs, which undermines profitability

A Mazatech, que fica em Botucatu (SP), começou a
atender a Embraer em 2010, um ano antes do PDCA,
e começou com três máquinas e sete funcionários.
Atualmente, são 40 funcionários e uma planta
estratégica para a fabricação de peças de vários aviões
de segmentos diferentes que são montados na fábrica
da Embraer na cidade. “Tivemos que crescer a fábrica
e dar novas oportunidades aos funcionários para
atingirmos o nível exigido”, explica Amauri.
O Programa atua sobre quatro pilares: atendimento;
redução de custos; qualidade e eliminação de
desperdícios. As ações do PDCA são construídas a partir
da aplicação de modelos de excelência em gestão,
filosofia lean (ver box), práticas de kaizen (melhoria
contínua) e, planejamento estratégico.
Em 2015, a cadeia de fornecedores nacional entregou
à Embraer cinco milhões de peças, que já estão sendo
usadas também na produção dos protótipos dos
novos jatos comerciais – os E-Jets E2 – e no avanço
do cargueiro KC-390.

aerospace industry expanded its infrastructure by 15,400

radar de artilharia antiaérea de baixa altura SABER-M60
e o radar de abertura sintética BradarSAR e está
concluindo o desenvolvimento dos modelos SABER-M200
e SABER-S200, com aplicações para defesa antiaérea e
controle de tráfego aéreo, respectivamente. A sinergia
entre as duas empresas, evidente no Sisfron, fez com que a
Embraer tomasse a decisão de consolidar as operações das
empresas Savis e Bradar, tendo como objetivo aumentar a
geração de valor para os funcionários, clientes e acionistas.
INTEGRAÇÃO DOS SISTEMAS
Outras empresas que merecem destaque no contexto
das soluções integradas são a Atech e a Visiona. A Atech,
líder no desenvolvimento de sistemas complexos e de
missões críticas nas áreas de defesa, segurança, tráfego
aéreo e aplicações civis, domina o ciclo de vida completo
destas soluções, atuando na concepção, desenvolvimento,
implantação e manutenção de sistemas de comando
e controle, “ciberdefesa”, simulação, gerenciamento
do tráfego aéreo, automação e controle e sistemas
embarcados. Desenvolveu, por exemplo, o sistema de
Gerenciamento de Tráfego Aéreo Brasileiro e, com a
eficácia alcançada, exportou parte da solução semelhante
para a Índia.
A Visiona, uma joint-venture entre a Embraer e a Telebrás,
é responsável pela integração dos sistemas do Satélite
Geoestacionário Brasileiro de Comunicação e Defesa e
recentemente expandiu seu portfolio para o fornecimento
de serviços de sensoriamento remoto via satélite, que
podem ser associados às várias soluções integradas que
a Embraer Defesa & Segurança pode ofertar para seus
clientes. Recentemente, também expandiu suas atividades
para prover soluções na área de comunicação via satélite
(SatCom).

and Control Centers, Infrastructure Support to
Decision-making in addition to the Integrated Logistic
Support contained in the scope of the pilot project.
Savis has expertise in the integrated management of
border monitoring and control projects and strategic

defense and security sector by stimulating the national

synthetic aperture radar BradarSAR, and is completing
the development of the SABER-M200 and SABER-S200
models, with applications for anti-aircraft warfare and
air traffic control, respectively. The synergy between
the two companies, evident in Sisfron, made Embraer
make the decision of consolidating their operations,
aiming to increase the generation of value for
employees, customers, and shareholders.
INTEGRATION OF THE SYSTEMS
Other companies that are worth mentioning in the
context of integrated solutions are Atech and Visiona.
Atech, a leader in the development of complex and
critical mission systems for defense, security, air traffic,
and civil applications, dominates the entire lifecycle of
these solutions, working in the design, development,
implementation, and maintenance of command and
control systems, cyber defense, simulation, air traffic
management, automation and control, and embedded
systems. The company has, for example, developed
the Brazilian Air Traffic Management System, and with
the effectiveness achieved in it, has exported a similar
solution to India.
Visiona, a joint-venture between Embraer and Telebrás,
is responsible for the integration of the Brazilian
Geostationary Communication and Defense Satellite
systems and has recently expanded its portfolio to
provide remote sensing services via satellite, which
can be associated with the various integrated solutions
Embraer Defense & Security can offer to its customers.
Recently, it has also expanded its activities to provide
solutions in satellite communication (SatCom).

/ Há 30 anos, o governo britânico elegeu o EMB-312
Tucano para ser o avião de treinamento da Royal Air Force
(RAF), dando à Embraer a vitória em uma memorável
concorrência do setor aeronáutico mundial, iniciada em
1983, com mais de 15 aeronaves na disputa.
O Ministério da Defesa britânico classificou quatro
finalistas: o Tucano (brasileiro), o PC-9 (suíço), o Turbo-
Firecracker (inglês) e o A-20 Wamira (australiano). Com a
vitória, em 1985, a Embraer se associou à Shorts Brothers
PLC, da Irlanda do Norte, e iniciou a fabricação de 130
aviões. O Tucano foi extensamente modificado para
atender aos requisitos da RAF, inclusive no formato de
seu nariz para receber um novo motor, mais potente.
A pedido da RAF, o motor original Pratt & Whitney Canada
PT-6, de 750 shp, foi substituído por um Garret, de 1.100
shp. Entre outras diferenças, o avião teve sua estrutura
reforçada e a hélice de três pás foi trocada por uma de
quatro pás. O “Shorts Tucano” também foi adotado pelas
forças aéreas do Quênia e do Kwait.
Os dois primeiros protótipos do Tucano T-MK-1, adaptado
às especificações da RAF, foram desenvolvidos em São
José dos Campos.
Os primeiros voos, inicialmente previstos para março
de 1986, foram antecipados em duas semanas, e os
ensaios em voo do “Shorts Tucano” foram inicialmente
conduzidos por Gilberto Pedrosa Schitini, piloto de provas
da Embraer e major-aviador reformado da Força Aérea
Brasileira (FAB), e Allan Deacon, piloto de provas-chefe

the EMB-312 Tucano to be the training aircraft of the
Royal Air Force (RAF), giving Embraer the victory in
a memorable bidding of the global aviation industry,
which began in 1983, with over 15 aircraft in the dispute.
The British Ministry of Defense ranked four finalists:
the Tucano (Brazilian), the PC-9 (Swiss), the Turbo-
Firecracker (English) and the A-20 Wamira (Australian).
With the victory, in 1985, Embraer joined the Shorts
Brothers PLC, of Northern Ireland, and started
manufacturing 130 aircraft. The Tucano was extensively
modified to meet RAF requirements, including the shape
of its nose to get a new, more powerful engine. At the
request of the RAF, the original Pratt & Whitney Canada
PT-6 engine, with 750 shp, was replaced by a Garret, 1100
shp. Among other differences, the plane has a reinforced
structure and the three-bladed propeller was replaced
with a four blade. The "Shorts Tucano" was also adopted
by the air forces of Kenya and Kuwait.
The first two prototypes of the Tucano T-MK-1, adapted
to the specifications of the RAF, were developed in São
José dos Campos.
The first flights, originally planned for March 1986, were
anticipated in two weeks, and flight tests of the "Shorts
Tucano" were initially led by Gilberto Pedrosa Schitini,
Embraer test pilot and retired Major-Aviator in the

de treinamento básico. Foi o primeiro avião da
categoria desenvolvido e produzido desde o início como
turboélice, mas mantendo características operacionais
das aeronaves a jato. Além disso, e diferente das outras
aeronaves de treinamento do inventário da FAB, o EMB 312
não possuía assentos lado a lado, mas sim na configuração
em tandem, escalonados, onde o instrutor e aluno se
sentavam no eixo longitudinal da aeronave, sendo o posto
traseiro mais elevado, permitindo ao instrutor a visão
frontal. Esta configuração, além de reduzir a área frontal
da aeronave, ainda permitia melhor adaptação do cadete
ao ambiente de uma aeronave de caça.
Outra característica inovadora foi a adoção de assentos
ejetáveis. O EMB 312 foi o primeiro treinador básico
turboélice a ser equipado com esse importante recurso
de segurança. Os tripulantes ficavam abrigados sob uma
grande capota transparente em peça única de plexiglass,
produzida de forma a não gerar distorções óticas.
O EMB 312 foi concebido para ser estável em baixas
velocidades e altamente manobrável, características
importantes para uma aeronave de treinamento
básico. Além de sua missão principal de treinador, ainda
poderia receber cargas externas em quatro pontos
duros nas asas, permitindo seu emprego em missões de
treinamento armado, apoio aéreo e ataque ao solo.

Tucano had great performance, even using only 80%
of engine power.
The Tucano revolutionized training aircraft design in the
international market. The EMB 312 aircraft, designated
by the FAB as T-27, had advanced design for the time
and many innovative features that eventually became
the world standard for basic training aircraft. It was the
first aircraft in the category developed and produced,
from the beginning, as turboprop, while maintaining
the operating characteristics of a jet aircraft.
Moreover, unlike other training aircraft of the Brazilian
Air Force inventory, the EMB 312 had no side-by-side
seats, but in tandem configuration, staggered, where
the instructor and student sat in the longitudinal axis
of the aircraft, and the rear post being higher, allowing
the instructor a frontal view. This configuration, while
reducing the frontal area of the aircraft, still allowed
a better adaptation of cadets to the environment of a
fighter aircraft.
Another innovative feature was the adoption of ejection
seats. The EMB 312 was the first basic turboprop trainer
to be equipped with this important safety feature.
The crew were housed under a large transparent roof
in a single piece of plexi-glass, produced so as not to
generate optical distortions.
The EMB 312 is designed to be stable at low speeds and
highly maneuverable, important features for a basic
training aircraft. In addition to its core mission of coach,
it could still receive external loads on four hard points
on the wings, allowing their use in armed training
missions, air support, and ground attack.

/ Os britânicos adotaram um avião brasileiro para o
programa de formação de pilotos da sua prestigiada aviação
militar. No início deste ano, o jato executivo Phenom 100
foi escolhido para realizar o treinamento de pilotos das
Forças Armadas do Reino Unido em aeronaves multimotor.
Essa não é a primeira vez que os britânicos usam aviões
da Embraer para treinar pilotos. Em 1986, sua Força Aérea
(Royal Air Force) adquiriu uma versão do turboélice T-27
Tucano para esta atividade (leia mais nas páginas 28/29).

O contrato de aquisição de cinco aeronaves Phenom 100 foi

assinado com a Affinity Flight Training Services, que desde
2014 opera os aviões de treinamento do programa Military
Flight Training System - MFTS (Sistema de Treinamento
Militar de Voo) do Ministério da Defesa do Reino Unido.
O acordo inclui também serviços e a opção de compra
de aeronaves adicionais.

O Phenom destinado ao treinamento dos britânicos possui
dois motores turbofan Pratt & Whitney Canada e está
configurado com sete assentos. Nos treinamentos MFTS,
o avião será ocupado por dois pilotos em instrução, quatro
tripulantes trainees e um instrutor na cabine de passageiros.
