friends at one of our local sheltered housing schemes. Your support is valued.
Grovers Puppets at Church Café
Please invite friends old and new to the Thursday Café this week to
hear the Christmas story re-told in a different way. There will also be
carols and a short address plus the usual refreshments. More details

Ladies Christmas Meal – last chance!
Ladies please do put your name down on the list in the foyer if you would like to
join in this years Ladies Christmas Meal on Saturday 18. After this morning’s
service the sheet will be removed so details can be worked out for ‘who brings
what’ on the evening. If you are coming please don’t forget to bring your
wrapped up £3.00 Secret Santa present.
Christmas Choir
Rehearsals, in preparation for the Carol service on 19 December,
will take place next Wednesday and Saturday – times to be
confirmed.
The Nativity
In the week before Christmas BBC1 will be screening a brand new peak-time dramatisation
of The Nativity story. It's been retold by the genius Eastenders screen-writer Tony Jordan
and made by Kudos, the company behind Spooks, in four 30 minute programmes on BBC 1
7pm each evening from Monday 20th until Thursday 23rd December.
Nativity in the Park
Mike is putting together a team of volunteers to help with this new venture on Christmas
Eve. If you are able to help e.g. with setting up, stewarding, hospitality, clearing up etc
please have a word with him as soon as possible.
St Cuthbert’s Christmas Lunch
As last year we will be serving a turkey lunch with all the trimmings after the
service on Christmas day. This is open to any-one. If you would like to help or
attend or know some-one who would like to come see Tricia or Julie.
Mulled Wine & Minced Pies
Help is needed with preparing the mulled wine next Sunday evening and also donations of
red wine. Mince pies – home made or bought – are also requested for next weekend☺
Abney 5K Run / Saturday Café
Our next run is on New Year’s Day at 9.30 – see abneycheadlerun.co.uk. The café that day
is 10.30-11.30 only
St Cuthbert’s Houseparty
Please collect and complete, if you have not already done so, the returns form on the
comprehensive leaflet which is now available in the Foyer.
Christmas Cards
The "St Cuthbert's Silver Christmas Tree" is now up in the foyer again for church-based
Christmas cards. Instead of sending loads of cards to church members, just put one on the
silver tree for everyone and put a donation in the wooden box. We sent £120 to Bible-lands
last year supporting needy children in the Holy Land & would like to send more this year.
City Centre Ministries
CCM have a ministry to the destitute and homeless.
On Christmas Day we are inviting people to bring hats,
gloves, scarves and sleeping bags and leave them
under the Christmas tree with a view to distribution to
those in need. More details from Catherine or Mike
Recycling for The Leprosy Mission
Please don’t forget to pas s your Christmas card envelopes (with the stamp still on them)
and holiday postcards to Liz Duxbury - the Leprosy Mission can make a lot of money from
these. Thank you.
Prayer Diary / Address List
A limited number of the new booklets are available today. Please use for prayer and
information. Also do advise of any incorrect information – assuming there is any – so that
we can rectify in for the next print run.

On Thursday Canon Mike Lowe was licensed as an Associate Minister in Cheadle by
Bishop Robert with a specific brief to work amongst those in the third age.
On Saturday Muriel Pickering celebrated her 90th birthday with many friends at The Alma
Lodge
