“Give what you have to receive what you lack”

A women´s hormone levels change throughout her menstrual cycle. One such hormone is called LH, read the pages 677 to
679 of biology book and answers the next questions
Create an Excel Graph with the information above, use as a model for your graph the image below.

Level of LH

2. On what day was the LH level the lowest? The highest?

70
The lowest day of LH was in the day 25 and the highest was the day # 13 with 70 level of LH.

3. How might LH levels and ovulation be related?

Then, the ovulatory phase arrives, in which the hypothalamus begins to release the LH hormone that completes the
maturation of the follicle, transforming into a large follicle that breaks and releases the egg. With the acceleration of
estrogens in this phase, the expression of LH receptors on developing follicles begins, which can synthesize an increasing
amount of estradiol. This leads to the positive feedback effect than there was before allowing continuous LH release over a
24-48-hour period. LH induces the12secretion of follicular
13 steroid hormones, 13 which include a small amount of progesterone
12 to 12
prepare the endometrium. These hormones allow the follicle to rupture and transform into the residual corpus luteum,
1 thereby causing
5 expulsion of9the egg. 13 17 22

4. In the menstrual cycle what happen after ovulation occurs?

After ovulation comes the luteal phase

5. What happens in the menstrual cycle if an egg is fertilized? Level of LH

If pregnancy occurs during this phase , hormones will keep the lining form sheeding with a menstrual period. Otherwise , a
flow will start around day 28 of the cycle beginning the next cycle.

6. Which effect has the menstrual cycle in the endometrium inside uterus?

Increase levels of estrogen and progesterone help thicken its walls.

7. Define the next terms:

a. Corpus luteum: Is a temporary endocrine structure in female ovaries and is involved in the production of relatively hight
levels of progesterone and moderate levels of estradiol and inhibin.

b. Ovarian follicle: Is a fluid-filled sac that contains an immature egg or oocyte.:

c. Ovulation: Discharge of ova or ovules from the ovary

d. endometrium is the inner epithelial layer, along with its mucous membrane, of the mammalian uterus.

e. Cervix: The cervix is the lower narrower portion of the uterus.

f. Vagina: The vagina is a muscular canal lined with nerves and mucus membranes.

g. fallopian tubes: Either part of a pair of tubes along which eggs travel from the ovaries to the uterus.

h. uterus: The organ in the lower body of a woman or female mammal where offspring are conceived and in which they
gestate before the birth
