1 Informationen zur Software des CMAX

1.1 Zusammengehörige Firmware− und PlugIn−Versionen

Die Firmware des CMAX und die verwendete PlugIn−Version müssen zwingend
kompatibel sein, siehe folgende Tabelle (Stand 2010/02):

Firmware im CMAX Kompatibles FCT−PlugIn

1.0 (Eigenschaften siehe Abschnitt 2.1) 1.0.1 (oder höher)

1.1 (Eigenschaften siehe Abschnitt 2.2) 1.1.0 (oder höher)

Danach ist es nicht möglich, ein mit der PlugIn−Version 1.0.x erstelltes CMAX−Pro
jekt mit der Firmware 1.1 zu betreiben.

2 Firmware−Versionen

2.1 Firmware−Version 1.0

Die Firmware−Version 1.0 ist die erste freigegebene Version und benötigt minde
stens das PlugIn der Version 1.0.1.
Diese Version ist in den Beschreibungen zum CMAX (Version 0908NH) vollständig
beschrieben.

2.2 Firmware−Version 1.1

Die Firmware−Version 1.1 benötigt mindestens das PlugIn der Version 1.1.0.
Informationen zur Kompatibilität bzw. zu den wichtigsten Änderungen folgen hier:

2.2.1 Neue Fehlermeldung E47

Die Referenzfahrt oder die Identifikation dürfen nur gestartet werden, wenn das
Motion Complete gesetzt ist (MC=1). Falls nicht wird der Fehler E47 erzeugt.
Durch diese Änderung wird der Handshake zwischen SPS und CMAX eindeutiger.

2.2.2 Verbesserter Handshake in der Parameterbetriebsart für zyklische

EA−Daten
Wenn die SPS die Betriebsart Parametrierung aktiviert, setzt der CMAX die
E−Daten nicht mehr automatisch auf 0. Durch diese Änderungen wird der
Handshake zwischen SPS und CMAX eindeutiger.

2.2.3 Ventilfehler bei kurzzeitigem Einbruch der Versorgungsspannung

korrigiert
Bei zu schwachem oder zu langsam nachregelndem Netzteil konnte unter be
stimmten Randbedingungen ein Ventilfehler auftreten (rote LED), ohne dass der
CMAX eine Störung meldete. Fahraufträge wurden nicht ausgeführt.

2.2.4 Fehlerhafte Referenzfahrt

Bei großen Antrieben und/oder großen Massen in vertikaler Einbaulage waren die
notwendigen Überwachungszeiten nicht ausreichend. Die Robustheit des Referen
ziervorganges wurde erhöht.

2.2.5 Änderung beim Handshake START/ACK bzw. HOME/ACK bei Betriebs

freigabe (STOP)
Die Signale START (Bit B1) und HOM (Bit B2) im Control−Byte CPOS müssen beim
Setzen der Betriebsfreigabe (Bit B1) im Status−Byte SCON noch zurückgesetzt (=0)
sein. Wenn nicht, wird die neue Störung E58 oder neue Warnung W58 erzeugt
(konfigurierbar).
Die folgenden Diagramme a) bis c) zeigen die verschiedenen Fälle.

Hinweis
Der Ablauf entsprechend a) ist auch nach einer Störung zu beachten. Setzen Sie
deshalb unbedingt vor dem Quittieren der Störung SCON.START = 0 und
SCON.HOM = 0.

bereits gesetzt, wenn STOP gesetzt wird:

Die Situation erzeugt den Fehler E58. START/HOM ist bereits bzw. noch gesetzt.
Hinweis: Erst START/HOM zurücksetzen, dann den Fehler quittieren.

c) Falscher zeitlicher Ablauf, wie (b) aber als Warnung konfiguriert:

Die Situation erzeugt die Warnung W58. Mit Rücknahme von START/HOM wird ACK
zurückgesetzt und es kann ein Fahrauftrag gestartet werden. Dabei wird die
Warnung mit der START−Flanke gelöscht.
Hinweis: Grundsätzlich ist nach einer Störung drauf zu achten, dass vor dem Quit
tieren der Störung unbedingt CPOS.START / CPOS.HOM zurückgesetzt sind (=0).

3.1 Zusammenhang zwischen Projekt, CMAX und PlugIn

Der CMAX enthält: Das Projekt im FCT enthält:

Zum Herstellen der Geräteverbindung wird überprüft:

1. Erfüllt das verwendete PlugIn die Mindestanforderung des CMAX?
2. Wenn ja, werden die Projektdaten verglichen.
3. Wenn nein, wird das PlugIn abgewiesen. Eine Meldung wird im Fenster Aus
gabe angezeigt.
Hinweis: Die Firmware−Version selbst wird nicht verglichen.
 Wenn das im Projekt verwendete PlugIn nicht die erforderlich Version hat, also
nicht die Mindestanforderungen des CMAX erfüllt, wird keine Geräteverbin
dung hergestellt.
Das PlugIn 1.0.x meldet dies im Fenster Ausgabe", siehe Bild5.
Die aktuell verwendetet PlugIn−Version wird in der Statusleiste unten rechts
angezeigt.

 Sobald eine Geräteverbindung erfolgreich hergestellt wurde, werden die vom

CMAX geforderten PlugIn−Versionen auf der Seite Controller" im Register
Kompatibilität" angezeigt, siehe Bild6.

3.2 Wo finde ich die Informationen zu den Versionen meines Systems?

Eine Liste der jeweils neuesten Versionen der installierten PlugIns können Sie mit
dem Befehl [Hilfe] [Info über installierte PlugIns] anzeigen.

Beim Einfügen einer neuen Komponente können Sie die gewünschte Version aus
wählen è Abschnitt 3.5, Bild9.
Mit welchem PlugIn die Komponente CMAX im Projekt erzeugt wurde wird auf der
Seite Controller" im Register Kompatibilität" angezeigt, siehe Bild6.
Sobald eine Geräteverbindung erfolgreich hergestellt wurde, wird Firmware−
Version des CMAX auf der Seite Controller" im Register Gerätedaten" angezeigt,
die aktuell verwendete PlugIn−Version finden Sie in der Statusleiste des FCT−Fen
sters, siehe Bild8.

3.3 Kann ich ein altes Projekt mit dem neuem PlugIn öffnen?
Nein, eine mit einem alten PlugIn erstellte Komponente in einem Projekt kann nicht
auf ein neues PlugIn aktualisiert werden.
Beim Öffnen eines Projekts wird immer die Version verwendet, mit der das Projekt
erstellt wurde.
Eine Aktualisierung ist aber möglich è Abschnitt 3.4.

3.4 Wie lade ich ein altes Projekt in einen neuen CMAX?
Dies ist möglich, wenn der alte CMAX (mit Firmware 1.0) verfügbar ist. Dann kön
nen Sie eine Komponente mit dem neuen PlugIn anlegen und mit einen Upload die
Projektdaten aus dem CMAX in das Projekt laden è Abschnitt 3.9.
Tipp:
Die Projektdaten aus dem alten Projekt können mit der Funktion PNU−Tabelle
exportieren" gesichert werden und anschließen in einem neuen Projekt mit PNU−
Tabelle importieren" geladen werden è Online−Hilfe zum PlugIn. Mit diesen
Funktionen ist kein CMAX als Zwischenspeicher" notwendig.

Hinweis
Aktivieren Sie vorher den Expertenmodus über das Hauptmenü des FCT
([Komponente] [Expertenmodus] ), damit evtl. geänderte erweiterte Daten
ebenfalls übernommen werden.

3.5 Kann ich ein älteres PlugIn in einem neuen Projekt verwenden?
Festo empfiehlt generell den Einsatz der jeweils neuesten PlugIn−Version.
Falls Sie dennoch eine ältere PlugIn−Version verwenden möchten, können Sie diese
beim Einfügen einer neuen Komponente in das Projekt auswählen:

3.6 Kann ich ein neues Projekt in einen alten CMAX laden?
Dies ist problemlos möglich. Die von der alten Firmware−Version nicht unterstütz
ten Features sind dann natürlich nicht verfügbar.

3.7 Wie lade ich die neue Firmware in einen alten CMAX?
Laden Sie die neue Firmware−Datei von www.festo.com è Abschnitt 1.2.
Gehen Sie dann vor wie im Kapitel 4 beschrieben.

3.8 Kann man eine alte Firmware in einen neuen CMAX laden?
Auch das ist möglich. Laden Sie die alte Firmware−Datei von www.festo.com, siehe
Abschnitt 1.2. Gehen Sie dann entsprechend vor wie im Kapitel 4 beschrieben.

3.9 Wie kann ich ein Projekt aus einem alten CMAX in ein neues PlugIn laden?
Dies ist einfach durch Anlegen eines neuen Projekts mit neuem PlugIn möglich.
Beim Aktivieren der Geräteverbindung wird automatisch der Assistent zur
Hardwaresynchronisierung angezeigt, mit dem Sie die Projektdaten aus dem
CMAX in das Projekt übernehmen können è Kapitel 4, Schritt 3.

Hinweis
Aktivieren Sie vorher den Expertenmodus über das Hauptmenü des FCT
([Komponente] [Expertenmodus] ), damit evtl. geänderte erweiterte Daten
ebenfalls übernommen werden.

4 Vorgehensweise beim Firmware−Download

Nachfolgend finden Sie die notwendigen Schritte zum Firmware−Download, falls

erforderlich mit dem Sichern bestehender Daten.
Die Beschreibung bezieht sich auf ein Upgrade der Firmware von Version 1.0 auf
Version 1.1, gilt aber entsprechend auch für neuere Versionen.

Schritt 1: Installation des CMAX FCT−PlugIns 1.1.0

Für den Upgrade der Firmware auf Version 1.1 wird zwingend das CMAX FCT−PlugIn
1.1.0 benötigt. Mit dem PlugIn 1.0.x können Sie die Firmware nicht aktualisieren.

Schritt 2: Neue CMAX Komponente

Legen sie eine neue CMAX Komponente mit PlugIn Version 1.1.0 in einem neuen
oder bereits vorhandenen Projekt an.

Wenn Sie die vorhandenen Daten des CMAX vor dem Firmware−Download sichern
wollen, dann geht es weiter mit Schritt 3 − Sicherung der CMAX Daten.
Ist eine Sicherung nicht notwendig dann können sie Schritt 3 überspringen und mit
Schritt 4 − Download der Firmware 1.1 − fortfahren.

Schritt 3: Sicherung der CMAX Daten

Hinweis
Aktivieren Sie vorher den Expertenmodus über das Hauptmenü des FCT
([Komponente] [Expertenmodus] ), damit evtl. geänderte erweiterten Daten
ebenfalls übernommen werden.

Zum Sichern der vorhandenen Daten aktivieren Sie dann die Geräteverbindung. Es
sollte nun der Assistent zur Hardwaresynchronisierung angezeigt werden.
Ist das nicht der Fall und der Konfigurations−Assistent wird angezeigt, so sind
keine Daten im CMAX vorhanden und Sie können sofort mit Schritt 4 − Download
der Firmware 1.1 − fortfahren.

Klicken Sie auf Weiter bis Sie zur Auswahl der Abgleichsoptionen kommen. Dort
wählen Sie die Option "Soll−Konfiguration in das FCT Projekt übernehmen" aus.
Danach klicken Sie wieder auf Weiter.

Wählen Sie auf der Folgende Seite den "Kompletten Upload" aus. Klicken Sie da
nach auf Weiter und auf der nächsten Seite auf Beenden.

Die Daten vom CMAX werden nun in das FCT Projekt übertragen.
Speichern Sie nun gegebenenfalls das Projekt.

Schritt 4: Download der Firmware 1.1

Wählen Sie im Hauptmenü des FCT [Komponente] [Firmware−Download], um das
Dialogfenster zum Firmware−Download zu öffnen. Unter "Verfügbare Firmware−
Dateien" sehen Sie alle importierten Firmware−Dateien des CMAX. Ist die Firmware
1.1 noch nicht dabei, fügen Sie mit "Importieren" die Firmware−Datei im PlugIn
hinzu.

Hinweis
Der Firmware Download löscht alle Daten auf dem CMAX und Sie können mit
einem "alten" Projekt keine Verbindung mehr zum CMAX aufbauen.

Wählen Sie nun die Firmware 1.1 aus und klicken dann auf Download.

Schritt 5: Gesicherte Daten wiederherstellen

Stellen Sie nach dem Firmware−Download wieder die Geräteverbindung zum CMAX
her. Mit "Download Projekt" im Konfigurations−Assistent werden die gesicherten
Daten in den CMAX übertragen.

1 Information on the CMAX software

1.1 Related firmware und plug−in versions

The CMAX firmware and the used plug−in version must be compatible; see
following table (status 2010/02):

Accordingly, it is not possible, to operate a CMAX project created with the plug−in

2 Firmware versions

2.1 Firmware version 1.0

Firmware version 1.0 is the first approved version and requires at least the plug−in
of version 1.0.1.
This version is completely described in the descriptions for the CMAX
(version0908NH).

2.2 Firmware version 1.1

Firmware version 1.1 requires at least the plug−in of version 1.1.0.
Information on compatibility or the most important changes follow here:

2.2.1 New error message E47

The homing or identification may only be started when the Motion Complete is set
(MC=1). If not, error E47 is produced.
This change makes the handshake between PLC and CMAX more unique.

2.2.2 Improved handshake in the parameter operating mode for cyclic

I/Odata
If the PLC activates the parametrisation operating mode, the CMAX no longer
automatically sets the input data to 0. These changes make the handshake
between PLC and CMAX more unique.

2.2.4 Defective homing

In the case of large drives and/or large masses in vertical mounting position, the
necessary monitoring times were not sufficient. The robustness of the homing
procedure was increased.

2.2.5 Change in the handshake START/ACK or HOME/ACK in case of operation

enable (STOP)
The signals START (bit B1) and HOM (bit B2) in the control−byte CPOS must still be
reset (=0) when setting the operation enable (bit B1) in the status byte SCON.
If not, the new malfunction E58 or new warning W58 is generated (configurable).
The following diagrams a) to c) show the various cases.

Note
The sequence correspond to a) must also be observed after a malfunction.
Therefore, before acknowledging the malfunction, always set SCON.START = 0
and SCON.HOM = 0.

3.1 Relationship between project, CMAX and plug−in

does not fulfil the minimum request of the CMAX, no device connection is
created.
The plug−in 1.0.x reports this in the Output" window; see Fig.5.

3.2 Where do I find the information on the versions of my system?

You can display a list of the newest versions of the installed plug−ins with the
command [Help] [Info on installed plug−ins].

When inserting a new component, you can select the desired version
è section 3.5, Fig.9.
The plug−in with which the CMAX component was produced in the project is
displayed on the Controller" page in the Compatibility" register; see Fig.6.
As soon as a device connection has been successfully created, the firmware
version of the CMAX is displayed on the Controller" page in the Device data"
register;
you can find the currently used plug−in version in the status bar of the FCT window;
see Fig.8.

3.3 Can I open an old project with the new plug−in?

No, a component in a project created with an old plug−in cannot be updated to a
new plug−in.
When a project is opened, the version with which the project was created is always
used.
But an update is possible è section 3.4.

3.4 How do I load an old project into a new CMAX?

This is possible if the old CMAX (with firmware 1.0) is available. Then you can
create a component with the new plug−in and load the project data from the CMAX
into the project with an upload è section 3.9.
Tip:
The project data from the old project can be saved with the function Export PNU
table" and then loaded in a new project with Import PNU table" è Online help on
the plug−in. With these functions, no CMAX is necessary as a buffer".

([Component] [Expert mode] ), so that any changed or expanded data can also
be taken over.

3.5 Can I use an older plug−in in a new project?

Festo generally recommends the use of the newest plug−in version.
But if you still wish to use an older plug−in version, you can select it when inserting
a new component into the project:

3.6 Can a new project be loaded into an old CMAX?

This is possible without any problem. Of course, the features not supported by the
old firmware version are not available.

3.7 How do I load the new firmware into an old CMAX?

Load the new firmware file from www.festo.com è section 1.2.
Then proceed as described in chapter 4.

3.8 Can an old firmware be loaded into a new CMAX?

That, too, is possible. Load the old firmware file from www.festo.com;
see section 1.2. Then proceed as described in chapter 4.

3.9 How can I load a project from an old CMAX into a new plug−in?
This is possible simply by creating a new project with a new plug−in.
When the device connection is activated, the Hardware Synchronisation Wizard,
with which you can take over the project data from the CMAX into the project, is
automatically displayed è chapter 4, step 3.

4 Procedure for firmware download

You will subsequently find the necessary steps for the firmware download, if
necessary with saving of the existing data.
The description refers to an upgrade of the firmware from version 1.0 to
version1.1, but also applies correspondingly for newer versions.

Step 1: Installation of the CMAX FCT plug−in 1.1.0

For upgrade of the firmware to version 1.1, the CMAX FCT plug−in 1.1.0 is
absolutely required. You cannot update the firmware with the plug−in 1.0.x.
Current plug−ins and all available firmware versions can be found under
www.festo.com è Downloads è Download Area: Software, drivers and firmware
è Enter search term: CMAX

Step 2: New CMAX component

Create a new CMAX component with plug−in version 1.1.0 in a new or already
existing project.

If you want to save the existing CMAX data before the firmware download,
continue with step 3  Saving the CMAX data.
If saving is not necessary, you can skip step 3 and continue with step 4  Download
of the Firmware 1.1.

Step 3: Saving the CMAX data

Note
Activate previously the expert mode through the main menu of the FCT
([Component] [Expert mode] ), so that any updated extended data can also be
taken over.

Then activate the device connection to save the existing data. The Hardware
Synchronisation Wizard should now be displayed.
If that does not happen and the Configuration Wizard is displayed, no data
arepresent in the CMAX and you can continue with step 4  Download of the
Firmware1.1.

Click on Continue" until you come to selection of the comparison options. There
select the option Transfer nominal configuration into the FCT project". Then click
on Continue".

Select the Complete upload" on the following page. Then click on Continue" and
Finish" on the next page.

Step 4: Download of the Firmware 1.1

In the main menu of the FCT, select [Component] [Firmware download] to open the
dialog window for the firmware download. Under Available firmware files", you
see all imported firmware files of the CMAX. If Firmware 1.1 is not yet there, add
the firmware file in the plug−in with Import".

Note
The firmware download deletes all data on the CMAX, and you can no longer
build up a connection to the CMAX with an old" project.

Now select Firmware 1.1 and then click on Download".

Step 5: Restore saved data

After the firmware download, re−establish the device connection to the CMAX. The
saved data are transferred to the CMAX with Download project" in the
Configuration Wizard.
