Injustice is one of
the big problems. Injustice is the phenomena in the society that so many people around
the world are challenging it. Social injustice is a concept relating to the claimed
unfairness or injustice of a society. Social injustice arises when equals are treated
unequally and unequals are treated equally. Authors have used literature to show social
injustices in their societies. Charles Dickens states the novel by analyzing injustice and
the condition of the society; the theme of social injustice is strongly present in A Tale of
Two Cities. Certain barriers that prevent full social justice cause social injustice. Some
people may confuse social injustice with individual justice. Individual justice is a much
more selfish item, maybe occurring with a disappointed student complaining for a better
grade, or a coach complaining because of a bad call, or something of the like. Social
injustice is a different case. Social injustice is a workers strike for better wages but they
can’t get their rights. Social injustice and individual justice have some similarities and
some components that separate them. Charles Dickens explains both in the book “Tale of
Two Cities”. The wealthy Foulon was also killed same day as Bastille was taken As the
point of view of the reader, we see the First reason that Foulon is aimed when Defarge
asks the revolutionaries: “Does everybody here recall old Foulon, who told the famished
people that they might eat grass and who died, and went to Hell?” book 2, chapter 14,
paragraph 31). Madame Defarge is looking for justice in the novel when the injustice
includes the deaths of her sister, brother, and father. It happens almost at the end of the
story that she finds out she had brother and sister but they were killed by Evrémonde
brothers. Because of this she wants to get revenge on Darnay the son of one of the
brothers. Her madness in finding the rest of the brothers is shown when she says: “Tell
wind and fire where to stop; not me!” book 3, chapter 1, paragraph 6). The idea that she
is more unstoppable than the inevitable elements.
Sydney Carton was so sure that he could never deserve Lucie. (Book 2, chapter
13, paragraph 17) “I am like one who died young. All my life might have been.” This
quote explains because of his lower class background makes him lose chances of getting
Lucie as his wife. When his parents died he was like a dead person. He never trusted his
own ability to rise and shine himself. “Samples of a people that had undergone a terrible
grinding and regrinding in the mill, and certainly not in the fabulous mill which ground
old people young, shivered at every corner, passed in and out at every doorway, looked
from every window, fluttered in every vestige of a garment that the wind shook. The mill
which had worked them down was the mill that grinds young people old had the same.”
(Book 1, chapter 5 paragraph 6) in this quote the social injustice theme is explained, how
poor people that live in the society even don't have food to eat. There is no difference
between old and young. They have to work hard and they're no longer citizens of the
nation. They can’t share their thoughts for their country or even city. “There were a king
with a large jaw and a queen with a plain face, on the throne of England; there were a king
with a large jaw and a queen with a fair face, on the throne of France. In both countries it
was clearer than crystal to the lords of the State preserves of loaves and fishes, that things
in general were settled for ever.” (Book 1, chapter 1, paragraph 2) in this quote you can
see that there is no differ in the two cities. A revolution could happen in England rather
than France but in France because of the revolution injustice was passing over society and
many people in the society were struggling with it. You may ask why again? The
general public business, which was, to let everything go on in its own way; of particular
public business, Monseigneur had the other truly noble idea that it must all go his way--
tend to his own power and pocket. Of his pleasures, general and particular, Monseigneur
had the other truly noble idea, that the world was made for them.” aristocrats only made
action when something interests them selves. They wouldn't listen to the society and
people. In the world that we live now we can say what we think with out any fear but it
wasn't like that even though still there are places that it’s like that. "The miserable bakers'
shops were beset by long files of them, patiently waiting to buy bad bread; and while they
waited with stomachs faint and empty, they beguiled the time by embracing one another
on the triumphs of the day, and achieving them again in gossip." (Book 2, chapter 22,
paragraph 29) This quote shows how people couldn't find food let alone finding good and
healthy food. They were happy to gossip in the backers’ and talk about politics and see
what other people think. Mostly they were hungry and thirsty. All the good things were
for the aristocrats. As you saw in the story when the water fell out of the phaeton and ran
"I know it all, I know it all. Be a brave man, my Gaspard! It is better for the poor
plaything to die so, than to live. It has died in a moment without pain. Could it have lived
an hour as happily?" Book 2, Chapter 7, paragraph 5. Poor people have a hard time and
hard life to live; they rather die than being alive and see what’s happening to them. This
quote shows how people thought and what injustice have done to them. In book 2,
else, yet I'm none the better for it in pocket; and it's my suspicion that you've been at it
from morning to night to prevent me from being better for it in the pocket, and I won't put
up with it, Aggerawayter, and what do you say now!". Good things are happening, people
are fighting against injustice in the society. That means for sure there is injustice in the
society.
Throughout the novel A Tale of Two Cities there were many injustice in the
society. Some people may say the injustice was because there was a revolution, they're
right but the most injustice was from peers and aristocratic. There is almost always
injustice in society, anywhere in the world you can find injustice and if someone says
there is no injustice here, that place may be heaven. People from the past till now are
struggling with it. You shouldn't lose your self, and never give up in the society. Good
heart may be good for some people and some events but there are times that
you should put your forgiveness and goodness away and fight with your problems till the
victory is yours. Sometimes good heart becomes the source of most of the worries. "If you
knew what a conflict goes on in the business mind, when the business mind is divided
between good-natured impulse and business appearances, you would be amused, Mr.
businessman and human being, a good heart may become a problem for a businessman.
