Stative Verbs

They describe a state and not an action. They are NOT used in Continuous Tenses

Remember, the
majority of
STATIVE VERBS
cannot be in –ING
form

Some Stative Verbs can sometimes be « dynamic / action” verbs and go in a Continuous
Tense.

Think – To have an opinion. Think – To use your brain to think, solve a
Ex. What did you think of the show? problem, plan something, etc.
Ex. I´m thinking about you.
Have – For possessions.
Ex. I have a cell phone. Have – For “I´m having a dinner/ shower/
fun”
See – To notice people and things with Ex. We’re having a good time on vacation.
your eyes. Also for “watch”.
Ex. I saw a movie last night. See – To date, meet or visit.
Ex. I´m seeing Mike.
Taste – To taste good, bad, sweet, etc.
Ex. Your food tastes good. Taste – To put food or drink in your mouth
to find its taste.
Ex. I´m tasting what you´re cooking.

Remember that some verbs can be both,  stative and dynamic verbs depending on
their meanings.
