About Wheatfield Bakery:
We believe in using only the finest ingredients that are as close as possible to their original state
found in nature. We also believe in the advantages of using fresh locally-grown ingredients
wherever possible. We use only organic non-GMO flour and organic dairy products from New
York and New England farms, with the exception of our eggs during the summer months which
come from Jorge Carmona’s Amantai Farm in Pennsylvania. Our non-domestic chocolate and
vanilla come from small grower-run cooperatives whose fair-trade practices we are happy to
support. We never use additives or preservatives so it is best to enjoy our items fresh the day they
are baked. We use seasonal fruits and vegetables thus the growing season may affect our menu
selections.
We believe that Wendell Berry’s claim that “eating is an agricultural act” applies as aptly to
baked goods as it does to everything else we consume; we like to trace the connection to the land
that produced the ingredients we use in every item we bake.
