Safe Electrical Wiring in Homes

Electric cable is a medium to channel electrical energy through its conductor. In an electrical
cable consists of Isolators and Conductors. Insulators are cable wrapping material, while
conductors are made of copper and aluminum, depending on the type of cable. The ability to
conduct current in an electric cable is determined by the Current Conduct Ability it has in
Amperes.

There are three types of cables commonly used in home installations, the first is the type of
NYA. NYA power cord is usually used for home installations and power systems. This type
of cable is commonly used in housing because the price is relatively cheap. In home
installations, sizes of 1.5 re and 2.5 re are used. Single core, layered with PVC insulation
material, and often for aerial cable installation. The color code of insulation is red, yellow,
blue, black and yellow green. Next is the type of NYM. Electric cable is a medium to channel
electrical energy through its conductor. NYM cable consists of more than 1 core conductor. It
has white and gray outer layer insulation Outersheath and Innersheath. Then there is the NYY
type. This type of cable is a power cable that insulates the inner layer and the outer layer in
black. This type of cable can be core 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x and even 5x.

So from each of the three types of cable above, there are weaknesses and strengths. NYA
cable is good for housing, but is not very resistant because it consists of only one layer. NYM
cable has the advantage of strong durability because the layer is coated with PVC sheath.
NYY cable has a strong sheath so that this type of cable can be buried in the ground.

From the types of cables above, we must know is the way to the installation itself. By
knowing the house plans for electrical installations. Then use SNI standard cable. Making
cable lines divided, for example for water pumps, air conditioners, lights. And the last is to do
grounding during electrical installations at home with the aim to be safer.

So in conclusion, we must first know the types of electrical wires that we use. Because each
cable has different characteristics and their use must be adapted to these characteristics. Then
we also need to know the procedure for installing electrical installations in our homes.
Starting from knowing the floor plan of our home installation to grounding. Do not forget
also to be wise in the use of electricity, because it is in the context of energy savings.
