DON’T SLEEP ON CHRISTMAS OR SANTA CLAUS

Ever wonder why the perennial fascination with Christmas and

Santa Claus? Don’t even believe it’s just materialism, or a kid’s trip, or a
Christian thing. Its essence has been taught and practiced since time immemorial
– irrespective of sectarian religion, race, creed or nationality.
Normally, Christmas is associated with the birth of Jesus Christ. Santa is the mythical, jolly old
man who flies his sleigh through the air and delivers toys and gifts to kids around the
world. In spite of the increasing number of people who practice mainly the gift
giving side of Christmas, or feel estranged from religion, the lure of the holiday and
Santa remains constant.

The Spirit of Christmas

What, then, are the underlying, universal spiritual messages inherent in this iconic holiday that
enliven it and perpetuate its practice ? First, let’s examine December 25th, the supposed birthday
of Jesus Christ. Hardly anyone believes that Jesus was actually born on that day. However, the
day does have some esoteric symbolism.

First, understand that “Christ” was not Jesus’ physical, carnal body. Jesus the man was the
“Word made flesh” that dwelt among men. The “Word” or “Christ”, which is “The only
Begotten Son”.

Thus, Christmas is really a celebration of the “Christ-Mass” – the glorification of the Holy Spirit
- that was epitomized by Jesus, that has been embodied in countless redeemers, saints and sages,
and that lies latent in you and me, ready to be realized.

The true gift of Christmas is the dawning light of the Holy Spirit in man.

In the northern hemisphere, Christmas day – December 25th – is the end of the winter Solstice
and the beginning of coming out of the darkness into the light as the days (light) start to get
longer. This symbolizes the growing flame of
enlightenment gifted to those open to receive it.

“Sol-stice” means “Sun stand still”. As the earth

revolves around the sun in an elliptical orbit, it
reaches the height of its arc at the Solstice, seems to
pause and turns back around in the other direction.
Imagine throwing up a ball in the air; it reaches its
highest point, seems to stop, and then comes down.

The approximate 4-5 days of the Solstice run from December 21 to December 25th. December
21st is the first day of winter and the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. The
night is as long and as dark as it will be during the year. During the Solstice the ratio of day light
to darkness remains fixed until December 25th when the hours of daylight start getting longer.

Symbolically, it is during the winter Solstice, culminating in Christmas,

that we receive the true gift of Christmas – a degree of enlightenment, in
the form of what the masters call “Divine Revelations.” With these
revelations we can symbolically make New Year’s resolutions that have teeth.

So, in this context, Christmas is just symbolic – meant to awaken us to a deeper, profound
mystery. To understand that better, let us turn our attention to the symbolism of Santa Claus.

The True Identiy of Santa Claus

Believe it. There can symbolically be no Christmas without Santa Claus. As the “Christ” in
Christmas represents the Holy Spirit, “Santa” symbolizes the saint as Word-Made-Flesh dwelling
among humanity. It is the saint or Godman who delivers the true gifts of Christmas – the
“Christ-Mass”, in the form of the Divine Revelations of light, sound and Soma (bliss). These
serve as “food” and nourishment for the soul.

“Santa”, the omnipresent saint, “flies” in His light body, accompanied by the elves
(Divine Revelations or “angels”), and delivers them to the spiritual children who
believe in and accept the guidance of the Godman.

Santa lands on each roof top – the “Crown Chakra” or “Kopavi” of the initiate –
the place where consciousness enters and leaves the human being. Santa or saint
then travels down the “Chimney” or spiritual pathway to the fireplace, which is symbolic of the
Third and Single Eye, between and behind the eyebrows. This is where the true seeker begins to
see inner light and hears the “jingle bells” or divine inner sound current, manifesting as the gift
of Divine Revelations.

The Christmas tree represents man’s ganglia or etheric body pathways super
imposed over the spine and body and lit up or vivified by the gift of “Soma” or
divine, blissful Soma. These serve to purify the soul and act as an antidote to
suffering and immunity to dis-ease states.

Again, the Divine Revelations of light, sound and Soma are the true gift of
Christmas or “Christ-Mass”. They are granted to the sincere seeker when in a
deep state of meditation - in the darkness of the night.

Christmas and its celebration, like many “Holy-days”, is merely a symbol of

the real thing. It, like many ceremonies, rites and rituals is only a reminder of
man’s true purpose and destiny, to realize self and God while living on this planet.

The “rebirth” of the sun after the winter Solstice represents the resurrection of the “born again”
human being. This is the seeker who rises above body consciousness in meditation and awakens
in the spiritual sky (to worship in spirit and in truth) in route to the throne of God.

As Christmas and Santa comes each year, and the sun rises every day, man has a daily
opportunity to re-unite to God and become a conscious co-worker with the Lord. Therefore,
instead of simply berating the materialistic celebration of Christmas and Santa, use it as an
opportunity to strengthen your spiritual connection. Let the giving of gifts represent the same
selfless giving that the Lord bestows upon us as the gift of life, and the revelations that serve to
redeem us and unite us back to God. God-men and God-women agree that loving selfless
service and giving is one of the fastest ways to ascend – especially when done under the
guidance of a competent enlightened spiritual guardian. As they say, “service to man is service
to God in man.”

Are You Ready to Meet Santa?

As sure as millions of children around the world brim over with excitement at the prospect of
meeting Santa, so too should we consider how wonderful it would be to actually come face-to-
face with one of the several living enlightened beings who are present on earth today and ready
to deliver to us the true gift of Christmas.

So, without shame or equivocation I say to you, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
