Step 5. Creation of very simple pipe

First of all, enter to piping mode DesignÎPipework. From menu select CreateÎPipe. Type pipe
name in field Name. If required change Specification and Attributes. New pipe will have Spec –
A150 – ANSI 150 lb.

Click OK. Now program requires entering branch name. By default it is b1.

Set Explicit in list Head/Tail settings and click OK. There are several options to create in the list
of Head/Tail setting. I will explain them after. Now we will use exact coordinates.

Select Head and enter all coordinates. Enter Nominal bore and Direction (direction is way from
head along nearest element of current branch. Currently this id East. If take into account that both
ends is flanged and we don’t know defined connection to other piping elements (nozzle, tee ….) and
we know only coordinates we will select 150# RF flange in Connection. Then click Apply.

Now select Tail. Fill all info about coordinates, connection type, and nominal bore. In case
Direction that is defining same way but from tail along close section of branch. In this case is W.
and Apply and you will see next picture.

We can see now pipe. But if your pipe straight and have different direction you will see only dash
line. Now required to install components (flanges, valves, tees). We need install 2 flange and
gaskets at the both ends of pipe. From main menu CreateÎComponents..

Select same Spec if selected other. By default is selected default set spec. There a lot of
components. We need to select Assembly (flange and gasket). If you want to start installation of
components from head to tail (normally have to be so), select option Forwards. If from tail to
head – Backwards. Select Auto conn to automatically connection to previous components or head
and tail of pipe. Direction in list (Direct N) is not applicable to Assembly. It has a meaning for
elbows to show correct direction of end and where to connect – Thro head. And click Create.

Select Gasket flange to head and Apply.

Select type of flange. This option can be different because of local database installed by Admin.
