Scene 1

Mr Jerrad :911, what is your emergency?

(The best friend is in a telephone booth.)

Mr Jerrad : There is a dead body at the s back of the alley, of Saint Joseph.

(Police arrive upon the crime scene, cross checking any clues left behind.)

(Dead body is brought to mortuary for post-mortem)

Investigator 1: Hello, is this Mrs. Smith? We are calling from Nilai Police Station. We have
some unfortunate news to tell you. Please be present here immediately.

Scene 2

(Wife arrives upon Nilai Police Station.)

Investigator 1: Kindly follow us.

(Enter consultation room)

(Investigator 1 hands over a sealed bag of belongings to the wife)

Investigator 1: My greatest condolences to you and your family. Your husband was found
dead in the alley.

(Wife sobs)
Mrs. Smith: How did it happen?

Investigator 1: Your husband was found dead at the back of the alley around 2am. Based on
the post-mortem report, we found a few stabs on the heart but there was no weapon found in
the crime scene. There is no foul play involved. We believe this is a suspected case of
murder.

Scene 3

(Two investigators are talking.)

Investigator 1: Did you get any info on him?

Investigator 2: Check this out, our victim has been leading a double life. Paul just found out
that he was actually involved in some of the drug cases. He goes by a fake name called
Haziq.

Investigator 1: Oh I heard from my buddies at the drugs narcotic center that they were trying
to build a case on Haziq as he is very low profile but manage to always transport drugs to
Myanmar, Thailand and other countries.

Investigator 1: Forensics, what do we have here?

Forensics 1: I think we would need some more time to find out what was the weapon used
and what time he exactly died.
Scene 4

(As the best friend is leaving Mr Smith’s house, the police arrive to ask Mrs Smith a few
questions.)

Investigator 1: Good morning, Ma’am. We’re sorry for your loss but we would like to ask
you a few questions.

Mrs Smith: Sure. Please come in. We will have a talk.

(As the police are coming in, they notice bruises around Mrs Smith’s neck and arms.)

Investigator 1: Where were you at the night of the murder? When was the last time you saw
your husband? Have you seen your husband with anyone suspicious?

Mrs Smith: Woah woah. One at a time.

Investigator 2: Where were you at the night of the murder?

Mrs Smith: I was out for dinner with my colleague.

Investigator 2: Where did you guys go? What time did you get back?

Mrs Smith: We were out dining at Jason’s. She dropped me off at midnight.

Investigator 1: What were you doing after you got home?

Mrs Smith: As usual, home alone. Drinking.

Investigator 2: When was the last time you saw your husband?

Mrs Smith: Around 6pm. As he said he had some errands to run and he wouldn’t be coming
back tonight.

Investigator 1: Did he mention who is he going to meet? What was he going to do exactly?

Mrs Smith: All I can remember him saying was he’s going out with Jerrad but he didn’t
mention where he was going.

Investigator 1: Have you seen your husband with anyone suspicious?

Mrs Smith: Suspicious people? My husband is a noble man. Why would he be with
suspicious people?

(Investigators look at each other and smirk.)

Investigator 2: Mrs Smith, can you give us more info about this Jerrad person?

Mrs Smith: Oh yes. He’s been with my husband since childhood.

Investigator 1: As we were walking in, we saw some bruises on your neck and arms. What
causes them?

Mrs Smith: I fell down while making noodles.

Investigator 2: But from my experience, it seems to be inflicted by abuse cause I don’t think
making noodles can cause such severe bruises.

Investigator 1: So I think you should tell us the truth so that we can find out who had killed
your husband.

Mrs Smith: ….

Investigator 1: Who was the lanky guy that left just now? Why was he here?

Mrs Smith: It was Jerrad. He came by to give his condolences.

Investigator 1: Alright Mrs Smith. Thank you for your cooperation. We will contact you if we
need more information. (suspicious)

(A phone call from the forensics department .

Forensics : So the results are out . The weapon that was used to killed the victim was a small
knife and he died approximately from 10pm to 12 am .

Investigator 1 : We are on it .
Scene 5
(Two days later, the two investigators were discussing the progression of the case.)

Investigator 1: Did you crosscheck the alibi of Mrs smith ?

Investigator 2: Yeah. She is clear. But what I found odd was her stammering when we asked
about her bruises.

Investigator 1: Yeah that story seemed like a hoax. Anyway, we should get a background
check on Jerrad.

Investigator 2 : Got them all right here. He is living in Brook Town street . He has been
working as a waiter for the past 5 years . But , he wasn't as lucky as Mr Smith who was born
with a silver spoon.

Investigator 1 :Right.. Shall we pay him a visit ?

Investigator 2 : We shall.

Scene 6

( The two investigators drive up to Brooke Town Street only to realise it’s a ghetto town .
They park and head towards the door. )

Knock knock !!!

Investigator 1 : Mr Jerrad is the police we would like to have a word with you.
Investigator 2 : Mr Jerrad !! (knock on the door more heavily)

Investigator 1: Probably he’s not in yet. Let’s come back later (said with a purpose in order
for mr jerrad to fall for the trap thinking the investigators are gone already)

(As the investigators were leaving , the door creaked open. )

Mr Jerrad: Oh sorry, I was using the toilet just now. How can I help you guys?

Investigator 1 : Are you Mr . Jerrad ?

Mr Jerrad : Yeah , who are you ?

Investigator 2 : We are from the FBI and we would like to ask you a few questions regarding
Mr.Smith’s murder.

Mr Jerrad : Smith was my best friend . Almost like a brother .

Investigoator 2 : Hence, why we need to ask a few questions . Your cooperation would be
very helpful in solving the case.

Mr Jerrad : Go ahead

Investigator 1 : Where were you at the night of the murder ?

Mr Jerrad : Umm ..I was at work .

Investigator 2 : Well not according to Mrs Smith . She said Mr Smith mentioned wanting to
meet you before he left home.

Mr Jerrad : Yeah he called at 6 to grab dinner . But I was stuck in between 2 shifts so I turned
down his offer .
Investigator 1 : Ahan .. so you were at work till late I’m guessing .

Mr Jerrad : Yes sir . Call up my work place and they'll assure you . I didn't leave till after
midnight .

Investigator 2 : Will do . What did you do when you got home ??

Mr Jerrad : Well I….. ( he paused ) .

( Mr Jerrad looked dubious to the investigators as he took a long pause before answering the
question )

Investigator 1 : Mr Jerrad !!

Mr Jerrad : Huhh ?! Yeah sorry . I came back to my place and had a couple of pints . And
watched Lucifer till i dozed off.

Investigator 2 : Is there anyone that can provide an alibi for you?

Mr Jerrad : No one other than my boss at the restaurant .

Investigator 1 : When was the last time you saw Mr Smith ?

Mr Jerrad : The day before as he mentioned he was going to meet some of his friends to start
a new business .

Investigator 2 : Did he mention who they were or what were the business they were planning
to start ?
Mr. Jerrad : Not really as I only saw them once before and he did not really talk about it
much to me .

(Pulls out a picture of the drug cartel )

Investigator 1 : Would it be by any chance to be these people ?

Mr Jerrad : Yes

Investigator 2 : Did you know what business they were planning to do ?

Mr Jerrad : Not really as Mr.Smith doesn't really talk about them .

Investigator 2 : Just for your information , they are a bunch of drug dealers so we suspect a
case of homicide.

Mr Jerrad : Ohh !!! That’s a shame. He was a righteous guy . ( faking a tear )

Investigator 1: Alright that's all, thank you for your cooperation.

Mr Jerrad: Sure, anything to help my late best friend. Still extremely gutted of what happened
to him.

Investigator 2: Right. ( feeling a little suspicious)

(The investigators leaves)

Investigator 1: Honestly I feel something was a bit off . There was little to no remorse in his
speech.

Investigator 2: True, especially the long pause and the dubious look he had.
Investigator 1: Yeah, we will keep investigating, now let’s keep our head towards the drug
cartel.

Scene 7

( Arrives at Saint Diablo )

Investigator 1 : So apparently this is where Mr Smith’s associates are from.

Investigator 2: (knocks on the door)

(having no replies)

Investigator 2 : ( knocks again)

(still no replies)

Investigator 1: As usual, I guess we will do it the hard way

Investigator 1: (smashes the door)

Di Alberno: Woah there's no need for these shenanigans. Who are you guys anyway? What
brings you here?

Investigator 2: We are the FBI and we are here for the murder of Mr Smith. We would like to
have a word or two with you.

Di Alberno: Sure.

Investigator 1: We’re just going to ask you some questions.

(Pulls out Mr Smith’s picture).
Do you know this man?
Di Alberno: No. I don’t

Investigator 1: You’ve never seen this man before? Are you sure?

Di Alberno: He looks vaguely familiar. But I don’t know him.

Investigator 2: He was one of the most famous and successful businessmen in the country, Mr
Smith. You don’t know him?

Di Alberno: I have no idea buddy but what’s the matter with him?

Investigator 2: Recently, he was murdered. (Show out next group of photos) He was found
stabbed to death. For your information, my team has just found out that you and Mr.Smith
were acquaintance. What had you guys been doing?

Di Alberno: Nah. Never heard of him! Do not simply pinpoint on others without solid
evidence.

Investigator 2: Do not try to be smart. You’ll remember everything after a third degree of
torture.
Are you guys going on a drug trafficking plan? It’ll be good if you speak the truth for the
charges charged upon you may be lessen

Di Alberno: (Keeps silent).

Investigator 1 : We wouldn't hurt you if you cooperate with us. We are just here to find out
who had murdered Mr. Smith (Throws out other questions) SO where were you on the night
of the murder?

Di Alberno: I was chilling with my buddies, having some fun all night long at the Connaught
Bar. You can check with the bartender or my buddies anytime.

Investigator 1: When was the last time you had contact with Mr Smith?
Di Alberno : Alright so we were having dinner with Mr Smith as well but he left around 9:30
pm and didn't came back . We all left afterwards around 11.

Investigator 1 : Did he have any enemies or was he involved in any unfair play to get to
where he is today ?

Di Alberno : He was always fair and quick with his decisions which would make your
questions invalid as to whether he had any enemies .

Investigator 2: But would you agree with the way he ran things or how he dealt with day to
day business proposals.

Di Alberno : That's not my main concern as long as the company is making shit tons of
money . I don't really care who is in charge or how things are running.

Investigator 1: Ever occurred to you that it might be illegal?

Di Alberno: Like I mentioned before he was a very fair and honest man.

Investigator 2: You might be surprised to find out, he was lying to you all along. He used the
company, cargo’s ships to transport drugs to overseas places such as Thailand , Myanmar and
others . He is a devil in disguise!

Di Alberno: Again, I have no interest in what or how he runs things.

Investigator 1: Alright then we can clearly see you are not related with the murder. (smacking
his head) (speaking with sarcasm) Thank you for cooperating with us .

Di Albern : Good luck in finding his murderer. .

Finale
(Investigator 1 and 2 enter a room)

Investigator 1: So, who would you guess had killed the victim?

Investigator 2: If I were to guess, I would have guessed the wife did it.

Investigator 1: We are pretty much on the same page. As the bruises we saw, I think they
were there ages ago and you know when you push someone that close to a wall, they tend to
do extreme things.

Investigator 2: But one thing doesn’t add up, if the wife was the murderer, shouldn’t she
throw out all the pictures or frames? I mean why would you remind yourself of all the pain
and torture. Like when incidentally killed someone, the thought of it haunts you forever and
its petrifying to say the least.

Investigator 1: Besides the wife, what do you think about the drug cartel?

Investigator 2: I think they are just a bunch of bloodlust imbeciles as long as the company is
making money, they wouldn't care how or what you do. So, I don’t find the drug cartel has
any strong motive to kill.

Investigator 1: Well they maybe would want someone more careful, more diligent to work for
them. As I find it impossible if they didn’t have a clue as to how the company has been
operating for years.

Investigator 2: That could be a possible motive for murder. We all know how they function
“recycle, reduce and reuse”.

Investigator 1: Could the best friend be in the mist? I mean there’s no reason for him to kill
his best friend who he had known since childhood. But you never know how good things can
end in a blink of motive or intention.

Investigator 2: I mean his body language didn’t seem right either. At this point anyone could
be the murderer. Gotta need clues, more clues.
Investigator 1: There must be a linkage somewhere. There’s no possible reason how there’s
no connection between the facts.

Investigator 2: I guess we will just have to work harder.

Case been going on for months since the murder, no further evidence found which link back
to the murder case.

Investigation has come to an end as every suspicion has come to a dead end and no new lead
has surfaced.

Investigator 1 closes the murder file, marking it as unclosed file

(An envelope full of money was in his letterbox; noting to Mr Jerrad.)

Man in black drives off in a black merc, fading into the sunset.

Story ends here for the readers to have their own conclusion to what had happened.
