Europe
ˇ Multi-faceted Europe
Europe is the most popular destination in the world and it’s not hard to see why. There are so many
facets to Europe, you can make your holiday anything you want it to be. You may be seeking total
relaxation or a full-tilt adventure; you may want to immerse yourself in history or to experience new
cultures, customs and beliefs; or you may simply hope to feast on gastronomical delights that are
renowned the world over. Whatever your desire, indulge yourself with a holiday to Europe and you
will leave with a whole new outlook on life.
France
France is the most visited country in Europe, which is no surprise, as it seems to have received an
extra helping of beauty – from its soaring mountain ranges to gorgeous beaches and cosmopolitan
cities. And there’s no city more cosmopolitan than Paris, a city renowned not only for its beauty,
Vienna Christmas market but for its impeccable style, love of art and distinctive cuisine.
The fabled French Riviera (Côte d’Azur) is renowned for its glamorous nightlife, exposed beaches and
chic resorts, such as Cannes and St Tropez. Along with neighbouring Monaco, the 160 kilometre-
long Côte d’Azur attracts the rich and famous, as well as artists drawn by the inspiration of its hillside
beauty and sultry climate.
The city of Nice is renowned as the hub of the French Riviera. Relax with a cool drink, just metres
from the Mediterranean, then explore the lovely Art Deco facades. Further into regional France,
medieval Avignon invites you to tour its maze of narrow streets and wander along the low fortified
wall that runs unbroken for nearly five kilometres. In beautiful Aix-en-Provence, stroll the majestic
tree-lined Cours Mirabeau into fountained squares crowded with 16th-century architecture and
explore a labyrinth of tiny lanes lined with cafes, restaurants and shops. In Lyon, stroll the narrow
cobblestone streets of ‘Vieux Lyon’, now a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and wander
past 17th and 18th-century mansions and museums to the Basilique de Notre-Dame.
Italy
It’s hard to resist the appeal of beautiful Italy. There are so many aspects to the country, the hard part
will be deciding what you love most. The art and culture, the delicious food, the wonderful scenery,
or the sheer magnitude of Italy’s history – how could anyone be expected to make a choice?
The city of Rome is simultaneously romantic, historic and vibrant. It is timeless with its ancient
history, art and architecture, containing more historic treasures than anywhere else in the world.
Built on 117 small islands, the intriguing city of Venice holds 150 canals, connected by an amazing
409 bridges. It’s the perfect city to ‘get lost’ in. Away from the main streets you’ll discover mysterious
alleyways leading off from the city, endless mazes of backstreets and deserted squares – the perfect
place to explore for hours on end.
