Visit the Houses of Parliament and its splendid Clock Tower. Inside hangs the fa
mous bell
Big Ben named after Sir Benjamin Hall, Chief Commissioner of Works when the bell
was hung in 1858.
It is worth queuing to visit the Strangers Gallery where you can see the House a
t work, and get a
chance to see the magnificent interior as well.
Overseas Visitors : A very limited number of permits are available to visitors t
o tour the Houses
of Parliament. Visitors should apply to the Parliamentary Education Unit (edunit
@parliament.uk),
and if granted, a permit will enable a party of up to 16 people to tour the Pala
ce of Westminster
on Fridays between 15.30-17.30 (provided that both Houses have concluded their b
usiness for the week).

The Royal Naval College
The Royal Naval College is beautifully situated on the Thames riverbank. It is r
aised on the site of the
Palace of Placentia where Henry VIII once lived. Charles II then demolished the
old Tudor residence and
replaced it with a palace, which was later developed into a naval hospital. Toda

of Greenwich. Only the impressive Painted Hall and RNC Chapel and the Crown Jewe
