Genetic engineering. The word genetic has a root word of gene which from a
greek word genea meaning from breed, kind or origin. Genetic is the science that deals
with the interaction of genes in producing similarities and differences. As for
engineering, it’s all about the design. It concerned with the practical application of
scientific knowledge. So, genetic engineering means, it’s a science that interacts with
the gene that manipulates or producing similarities and differences.

Genetic engineering is a very vast field of science. It can be useful and

beneficial. However, it had feedback that it creates more complications or much
stronger disorders.

What’s more? It can conflict to ethical issues. It conflicts to Natural Law by

Thomas Aquinas. Natural law includes self-preservation, just dealings with others and
propagation of our species. Manipulation to genes is not natural thing to do. It doesn’t
preserved natural way of a person’s genetic code. In fact, it can create complex
disabilities.

Proposition: Genetic engineering conflicts to the natural law

Natural law has threefold which include the self-preservation, just dealings with
others and propagation of species.

Self-preservation doesn’t mean the intervention of the medical field is not sole
purpose for preserving oneself. However, the genes are the one being manipulated. Its
natural structures have been manipulated. The concept of being natural gene structure
which was base from our dominant and recessive genes yet, here we are manipulating
it without any concern to what may happen later on.

The positive group clears out that genetic engineering is beneficial and good for
all. They specify things which pointed out which such surprisingly without any
consideration to another who is involved.

Just like the proposition of the genetic cloning. They specify that the byproduct of
the cloning doesn’t contain life. Then what is life then? How come that the clone doesn’t
have life? It doesn’t have the same right of the genuine one was also emphasized. Then
with this kind of power to produce any outcome for the benefit for all without any
concern to the one involved, how can we set line for using such advance yet
unpredictable outcome of genetic engineering? Then this kind of procedures created
through genetic engineering is costly. Not all people can benefit to it.

The positive group had never foreseen the outcome. They only see the good or
beneficial aspect of this field yet, the outcome that is beyond control by anyone
especially to the experts to this genetic engineering has been neglected.
