Journey to Quality & NABH Accreditation

Early November 2010, PCH crossed her first milestone in the journey to making the hospital a world
class facility. The NABH Accreditation is an external ratification of the process we have all been working
towards – non-stop!

Accreditation of Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital means that the systems and processes of the hospital
are in perfect consonance with the best healthcare practices followed across the globe. Of the 50,000
hospitals in India, only 58 hospitals have been accredited by NABH (November 2010).

Needless to say, this would not have been possible without the belief and commitment that each
member of this family has imbibed into their work systems. This journey towards quality benefits all.

Patients are the biggest beneficiary. Being a quality conscious hospital translates into high quality of
care and patient safety delivered by recognized medical staff. The rights of patients are respected and
protected. Patient satisfaction is regularly evaluated.

As a hospital when we ensure continuous improvement we raise thus community confidence in the
services provided by us. Confidence is also raised for Insurance companies to empanel us, which again
translates to greater facilities for our patients and their families.

Working towards quality also has personal benefits as it provides for continuous learning, good working
environment, leadership and above all ownership of clinical processes.

Yet, this acknowledgement is only a step, the first step in a long and continuous journey towards
ensuring that the faith and trust of the people who access our services is upheld. Let us rejoice this
recognition, but at the same time let us also remember that the journey has only just begun and that we
have to remain committed to ensuring that “quality” is the cornerstone of our work.

Growth” Dr Vijay Agarwal, Executive Director was invited to speak
on “Promoting Quality in Healthcare through Health Insurance”.

and Speaker at the 'Training Program for Medical Officers on
Holistic and Human Care of Victims of Domestic Violence'
organized by IIHMR, Jaipur and Directorate of Health Services,
Govt of NCT Delhi. Dr Amit presented a talk on “Reception and
Management of Survivors of Domestic Violence, Dowry
Harassment and Sexual Harassment in Emergency Department of
a Healthcare Facility” and “Pressure Handling Skills for Emergency
Doctors”.

An insight into Large Community Based Trial
Department of Pedicatrics, PCH in association with Yakult
organized 'An Insight into Large Community Based Trial to Evaluate
the Efficacy of a Probiotic in Preventing Acute Diarrhoea in
Children' at Hotel Taj Mansingh, New Delhi. The program was
attended by over 70 leading pediatricians from Delhi and around. Dr
SK Mittal conducted the proceedings of the program and Prof NK
Ganguly, Dr G Balakrish Nair, Dr Dipak Sur, and Dr Shinjini
Bhatnagar were the panelists. Mr Kiyoshi Oike, MD, Managing
Director of Yakult Danone India Ltd was especially present on the
occasion.

Dr Vinay Aggarwal, CMD, Pushpanjali Healthcare was elected National President, Indian Medical
Association, the world's largest organization of Doctors with over 2 lakh members and 1,500
branches spread across the country; with an overwhelming majority (92% votes in favor), the result
of which was declared on Tuesday, 2 November, 2010.

A widely travelled man, Dr Vinay Aggarwal when asked about his objectives as President IMA, said
that he would mobilize all available resources under his leadership to augment the Millennium
Development Goal of “Health for All”. He added that the theme of IMA during his tenure would be
“We will make a Difference”.

Star Doctor of PCH
Doctors' Day was celebrated by PCH doctors from all departments. The
Department of Dietetics and Nutrition along with GSK organized a quiz
competition; and the winner was awarded the title of “Star Doctor of
PCH”. The event took place in the conference hall and began with
encouraging words from Dr Gaurav Aggarwal and Dr TS Jain. The
program was hosted by Ms Charu Dua and Dr TS Jain. The quiz had
questions ranging from medicine to sports. After the initial rounds, the
search ended with the result being locked by the voice logger machine.
AAPI Award
Dr Narender Saini was presented an award by House Majority Leader
USA Congress Steny Hoyer and American Association of Physician of
Indian origin (AAPI) President Dr Vinod Shah for his services to the
medical fraternity and community on 26 June 2010 at Gaylord National
Convention Center, Washington USA. This award was presented on the
occasion of the 28th Annual Convention of AAPI.
