Procedure:-

Backup Critical HMC Data on Backup DVD

HMC 6.1.3 update packages consist of multiple CD updates. All update CDs must be
installed.
At the HMC interface, follow this procedure for each update of the update CDs:
1. Select Licensed Internal Code Maintenance
2. Select HMC Code Update
3. Select Install Corrective Service
4. Select Apply Corrective Service from removable media
5. Insert the first update CD into the DVD drive of the HMC.
6. Press OK to start the update
When the first CD completes, the HMC displays a completion message and a checkbo
x to Install the next corrective service when you select OK.
7. Remove the first CD, click the Install the next corrective service when you s
elect OK checkbox, and then click OK.
The HMC returns to the Install Corrective Service screen.
8. Insert the next CD, select the Apply Corrective Service from removable media
radio button, and then click OK to continue the update.
9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for each remaining CD in the Update package.
After the last CD completes, the HMC displays the following message:
The corrective service file was successfully applied. Wait until all tasks compl
ete and Manually reboot the HMC for the changes to take effect, or select the ch
eckbox below.
10. Remove the last CD, click the Automatically reboot the HMC when you select O
K checkbox, and then select OK.
Verify a successful update
After the HMC is rebooted, follow these steps to verify that the corrective serv
ice update was successful:
1. Select Help in the top menu bar.
2. Select About the Hardware Management Console.
3. On the "About" splash panel, look for updated information about the update an
d fix you installed
Step 1. Install the corrective service efix MH01082
As a safety precaution, back up critical console data.
Put the CD you ordered, or created from the ISO image, in the CD drive, and then
follow these steps at the HMC interface to install the fix from the CD:
1. Select Licensed Internal Code Maintenance
2. Select HMC Code Update
3. Select Install Corrective Service
4. Select Apply corrective service from removable media
5. Select OK
The HMC interface retrieves the update package from the remote CD and begins the
installation process.
Step 2. Reboot
Reboot the HMC after the installation of the update has completed. Rebooting ens
ures that all changes are available immediately.
Step 3. Verify a successful update
After the HMC is rebooted, follow these steps to verify that the corrective serv
ice update was successful:
1. Select Help in the top menu bar.
2. Select About the Hardware Management Console.
3. On the "About" splash panel, look for updated information about the update an
d fix you installed.
