Operating Procedure
MAKE - THERMAX

FLOW RATE – 36 M³ / Hr.

INLET HARDNESS – 300 ppm

OUTLET HARDNESS – 5ppm

HEIGHT – 2500 mm

DIAMETER – 1700 mm

BRINE TANK - 2000 Ltr.

Service Cycle Procedure:

Water from Hydro pneumatic System at the inlet of softener, open valve A & close rest of the valves.

Service Valve should be open to transfer water in Plant for process.

Back Wash Cycle:

Open Drain Valve”C” full. Slowly open valve “B” and adjust the flow in the drain sump. Investigate
the water unless the water is clear at the drain & same as that of inlet water. This completes Back
wash operation.

Close Valve “B” & “C” and open valve “A” and Service valve.

Minimum time required for back wash should be 20 to 30 min.

Regeneration Procedure:

It is essential that 400Kg of salt is ejected into softener. This is ensured by preparing saturated
solution of the salt in the BRINE TANK. Approximately solution of 26% concentration is prepared in
the tank. The volume of water to be added to salt shall depend on quantity of salt. For 400Kg of salt
1,138 Ltr. Approx. 1200Ltr.is to be added. As per the qty of water, mark with paint from inside the
tank for water level to be taken for every regeneration. It is advice that immediately after
regenerating the softener, brine should be prepared for next regeneration.

For regenerating the softener close all the valve like A B C and service valve.

Open valve “E, F, D”. Water inlet from Hydro pneumatic system should be on.

Prepare the solution with 400Kg of salt with 1200 Ltr. Of water in the brine tank.

Regeneration time should be 45 to 75 min. in which the drain valve “D” should be opened 1/4th only

After brine gets completely injected, close valve “E” and “F” fully. RINSE inlet valve by opening
half open for next 25 to 30 min.

After slow RINSING open valve “A” full for next 15 to 20 min. to normal condition & check the out
let hardness at the sampling point.

If the total Hardness is found to be commercial Zero, close the drain Valve “D” and open service
valve to take the water for process. In case, the quality of the water is not achieved yet, continue the
fast rinse step till quality is achieved.

The unit is now ready for service.
