Joining Tawau Toastmasters Club
2008/2009 was never planned. It just
happened!

Roselind Gan Si Wah I remember it was DTM Lee Chye
ACS, CL Ewe who brought me to the club.
Young and naïve as I was then, I

Education efficiency, care, fun and learning, all

ACS, CL fascinated by the way speech evaluations were
handled. They were not offensive, but tactfully and

CTM speech contests every year. My first time ever taking
part in the International Speech contest brought me

Lynda Lee Ping to Kota Kinabalu (Division level contest). In a
CC, CL whirlwind, I was suddenly the second runner-up and
people whom I hardly knew came up to congratulate
Treasurer me. That is the Toastmasters’ spirit – to acknowledge
Eleanor Fabia Pang people’s achievement even though you hardly know
ACS them!

Sergeant-At-Arms Ever since then, I’ve again participated in speech

ATM-S, CL contests, I became more aware and observant of how
to improve my own speeches. There are many

ATM-G, CL Contest in the Division level and that granted me a
privilege to move a step higher to be in the District
Elizabeth Goh level contest. Sad to say, I was not able to bring back
ATM-S, CL any trophies, but it was a whole new experience,
enriching in its own unique way.

ATM-B, CL After seven years of joining the club, I suddenly found
myself in the position of a Club President! Of course
Lee Chye Ewe there is the sense of achievement and self satisfaction,
DTM but more is the burden of living up to the standards of
the club that I witnessed and that attracted me to the
