Commonwealth Travel Fellowship 2011

In 2009 the Council of the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association (CPA) agreed to

mark the 40th Anniversary of CPA with a Commonwealth Travel Fellowship. The
Fellowship to be awarded biennially would be funded by donations received into the
Scholarship Fund and would be open to pharmacists and pharmacy students with the
aim of allowing them the opportunity to attend a CPA Conference or a Conference in
another Commonwealth country of their choice.

By meeting with pharmacists, pharmacy organisations and regulatory authorities at

the Conference of their choice, the awardee will be able to improve their own
practice skills and in turn assist with the development of pharmacy in their own
country.

Applications are invited from pharmacy students or from pharmacists working in any
area of pharmacy practice – community, hospital, industrial or academic – and
pharmacists in developing countries are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Fellowship will comprise the sum of £ 2,000 (sterling) to be paid to the
successful Fellow to enable them to fulfil the objectives of their proposed visit. This
should provide sufficient funding for international travel, local travel and subsistence
for up to seven days spent in the other Commonwealth country.

A short report (1000 words) of the visit should be produced within two months of
returning home for publication in appropriate publications including the
Commonwealth Pharmacists’ E-news and its website.

Eligibility

The applicant must be a registered pharmacist of not more than five years standing
from a Commonwealth country or a pharmacy student studying in a commonwealth
country.

The Fellowship is to be used for travel to the CPA Conference or another Conference
of their choice in a Commonwealth country in 2011

Applications

Applications of about 1,000 words (preferably typed) should describe why the visit
would be of value to the recipient and how it would aid the development of pharmacy
in their home country. This should include the specific objectives of the travel. In
addition, a separate travel plan detailing the Conference and other organisations to
be visited in their chosen country (and the expected costs of travel and
accommodation), a one-page curriculum vitae and a recent photograph should
accompany the application.

Applications should be sent to The Secretary, Commonwealth Pharmacists’

Association, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1 7JN, England by Tuesday 1st
February 2011.
