10 (a) The rusting of iron is one of the major problems faced in present times. Suggest three
methods how this problem may be overcomed. [3 marks]

(b) The following are the equations of two reactions:


Reaction I: FeSO4+ Pb(NO3)2 → PbSO4 + Fe(NO3)2
Reaction II: 6 FeSO4+ 3Br2→ 2Fe2(SO4)3 + 2FeBr3

i In terms of change in oxidation numbers, determines which reaction is a


redox reaction and which reaction is not a redox reaction. [4 marks]

ii State the oxidizing and reducing agents for the redox reaction [2 marks]
