Anna University Chennai, one of the Asia's largest Technological University is constantly striving to
reach greater realms in the annals of technical education. As part of executing its social obligation,
the University is committing itself every time to render innovative services to the needy community
across the length and breadth of the country in particular and the world at large. Currently the
University offers Technical Education at all levels through eight faculties viz. Civil Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information and Communication
Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Planning, Management Sciences & Science and
Humanities. In addition, Anna University Chennai contributes to the furtherance of techno-economic
status of India through well established research centres, professional chairs and research
sponsorship by the nationally and internationally renowned agencies. The University has gained
many laurels and continues to serve as a premier Centre of Excellence in many important and
emerging areas of technical education development and research. In its endeavor towards
transformation of knowledge and to build-up technology and managerial competencies to
professionals, the University is embarking on an ambitious initiative to offer professional MBA, MCA &
M.Sc. (Information Technology related area) Degree Programmes through distance mode. This is but
one more step proposed towards participation in nation building through building a knowledge based
society.

About the Centre for Distance Education

In tune with the growing global trend of extending conventional University instructional mode to
online, self learning, distance education methodology, Anna University Chennai has created the
Centre for Distance Education. Through this initiative Anna University Chennai aims to impart
technical professional education that would provide competitive edge in the global business
environment, to advance the qualifications of the needy by providing hard and soft skills to be a better
performer and to meet multiple real corporate world challenges through tailor made professional
courses. This requirement gains even more importance in the current scenario, with ever increasing
need for professionally qualified and trained personnel in areas of Computer Applications and
Business Management. Keeping this in mind, the Centre launches professional MBA, MCA & M.Sc.
(Information Technology related area) Degree Programmes through the distance education mode.
Objectives of the Centre
To provide competitive edge in the global business environment through updation of
Professional skills through distance mode.
To offer comprehensive state-of-the-art curriculum leading to professional MBA, MCA and
M.Sc. degrees and other professional degrees.
To design, develop and disseminate emerging technological know-how to the nook and
corner of the country in particular and the world in general.
To extend the benefits of state-of-the-art technical education to the so far unreached rural

Conduct of Entrance Test

i. Written Entrance Examinations shall be within Tamilnadu state only.

ii. Outside Tamilnadu, the entrance test shall be in ONLINE MODE at selected centres
(Subject to availability of minimum no. of candidates) The dates for online entrance test at
those centres shall be fixed in coordination with the respective centres and be intimated to
candidates.

iii. Candidates desiring to change their option from written entrance test mode to online test mode
or vice versa have to pay an additional fee of Rs.500/- in the form of a Demand draft drawn in
favour of “The Director, Centre for Distance Education, Anna University Chennai”
payable at Chennai and be Obtained from any Nationalized Bank.

Eligibility
Candidates for admission to the first semester of the Master's Degree Programmes shall be required
to have passed an appropriate bachelor Degree Examination of a recognized University as specified
under Qualification for Admission or any other examination of any recognized University or authority
accepted by the Syndicate of Anna University Chennai as equivalent thereto.

TANCET score is also valid for admission** to MBA / MCA of distance education (However candidates have to send
application and admission is subject to validity of TANCET score)

Candidates with AMIE or similar qualification awarded by Professional Institutes approved by MHDR are also eligible for
admission** to MBA / MCA degree programme, if they have
i. Two years experience after obtaining AMIE or similar certificates and
ii. A valid appropriate score in TANCET** or entrance test conducted by the Centre for Distance Education

Eligibility for Admission

Candidates selected through entrance test are eligible for admission in any one of the programmes MBA / MCA /
MSc in any one of immediate two successive batches of admission**
(CY 2009 batch of AY 2009-10 batch)
