en SALA INSTINTO el 18/08/2007
La segunda edición de la revista ya está en la
calle y se celebra una segunda fiesta inesper-
ada en la ya conocida SALA INSTINTO
(Méjico, 7 - Plaza España).
La medianoche, en la sala de arriba, empieza
con una sesión suave y muy soul a manos
de DjSenbee y la voz de Lady EmZ (colectivo
NUBE 9). Sentimiento y mucha clase en cada
uno de los temas... El sonido se va tiñendo de
Funk y las voces de EmZ surfean cómodas so-
bre notas y melodías...
Al mismo tiempo, en la sala de abajo, algunos
miembros de IFS se preparan a tomar el con-
trol de los platos y micros con energía. Sus
bases van del Funk/Soul al Hip Hop y Ragga.
Letras positivas, mucho talento y buenas vi-
braciones; una actuación fantástica, familia!
El arte visual de VjAlberto trae color y lumi-
nosidad, a la vez que creatividad abundante y
un mensaje potente... las imágenes se fusio-
nan con el sonido y tienen vida propia. DjFran-
tik (Tiknology/Surco) se sube al mixer de arriba
y acompaña a Lady EmZ con algunos temas
profundos y Funkies, irrumpidos por breaks de
Jazz. Magistral selección! Mientras tanto, aba-
jo, los beats internacionales de IFS continúan
potentes; la voz aterciopelada de Tumi y el
flow de Lucien y LPunto caminan bien sobre
las mezclas de Nash.
Les siguen los “Funktásticos” Barna Basstars:
DjCode, Nerko y la voz de Feo1delgremio, que
nos sorprende con sus letras potentes y su
presencia en escena. Los tres, con impecables
trajes y pelucas afro, nos regalan una sesión
Funk/old skool HipHop inigualable! Code es
el maestro del scratch, los beats de Nerko te
llevan y te obligan a bailar y Feo1 sabe bien
como hablarle al público y tiene mucho que
decir... Menudo equipo: “Superstyle”! Arriba,
la noche sigue con DjDon Rolando y su agrada-
ble selección de los clásicos del mejor Reggae,
Soul/Funk y AfroBeat. El auténtico sonido Luv
Messenger!
La sala de abajo está que arde, no está repleta,
pero la gente se mueve con el sonido sin nin-
guna intención de parar y con cara de felici-

dad! Siguiente a los platos: DjFrantik, esta vez
con una sesión de 2 horas de DnB de alta cali-
dad. McStormy (NUBE 9/08001) coje el timón y
navega sobre las líneas trepidantes de bajo sin
ningún problema, moldeando su flow al ritmo
del beat cómo buen capitán.
DjMonne se dispone a llenar la sala de arriba
con el mejor Dance/Funk y sus jugosos Rebel
Breaks; una sesión para los adictos al mov-
imiento de caderas, bravo! La gente abajo
sigue “grooveando” alegre. Stormy le cede el
micro a Lady EmZ, la conexión entre los tres es
evidente... artistas y público 100% entregados
a la música, qué buena atmósfera!
Casi las seis de la mañana y la noche va lle-
gando a su final, pero la gente quiere más...
Nos despedimos con un delicioso sabor de
boca musical y, de nuevo, la prueba evidente
de que la unión hace la fuerza; artistas de Bar-
celona...no abandonéis jamás vuestros deseos
y mensajes!!

The second issue of the mag is already out in
the streets and we celebrate a second unex-
pected party at the well-known venue SALA
INSTINTO (Méjico, 7 - Plaza España).
It’s midnight, and upstairs the session begins
mellow and soulful in the hands of DjSenbee
and with the voice of Lady EmZ (NUBE 9 crew).
Plenty of feeling and class in each and every
track...The sound gets tinted by Funk, and EmZ
vocals surf comfortable over the notes and
melodies...
Meanwhile, in the downstairs room, some IFS
members get ready to take charge of the decks
and mics. Their bases range from Funk/Soul to
Hip Hop and Ragga. Positive lyrics, big talent
and good vibrations; a fantastic performance,
family! Vj Alberto’s visual art brings colour and
luminousity, along with plenty of creativity and
a powerful message...the images melt with the
sound and have life by themselves.
Dj Frantik (Tiknology/Surco) jumps up to the
upstairs mixer and features Lady EmZ with
some deep funky tunes, bursed by jazzy Breaks.
A master selection! Meanwhile, downstairs,
the international beats of IFS continue power-
fully; Tumi’s velvety voice, and the flow of Lu-
cien and LPunto work well over Nash’s mixes.
After them, the “Funktastic” Barna Basstars:
DjCode, Nerko and the voice of Feo1delgremio,
that takes us by surprise with his powerful lyrics
and his stage presence. The three of them ,
with their impeccable suits and afro wigs, give
away a Funk/old skool HipHop session! Code
is the scratch master, Nerko’s beats take you
and force you to dance, and Feo1 knows how
to talk to the crowd and has loads to say...What
a team: Superstyle!
Upstairs, the night goes on with Dj Don Ro-
lando and his pleasant selection of the best
Reggae, Soul/Funk and AfroBeat classics. The
authentic Luv Messenger sound! The downs-
tairs room is on fire, it’s not jam-packed, but
people move to the sound without intention to
stop and a happy face! Next on the decks: Dj
Frantik, this time with a 2 hour session of high
quality DnB. McStormy (NUBE 9/08001) takes
over the rudder and sails over the vibrating
bass lines without a problem, shaping his flow
to the rhythm of the beat as a good sailor.
DjMonne is about to fill the upstairs room
with the best Dance/Funk and his juicy Rebel
Breaks, a session that suits the addicted to the
hip move, “bravo”! People downstairs still ha-
ppily grooving. Stormy hands the mic over to
Lady EmZ, the conection between the three is
palpable...artists and audience 100% surrende-
ring to the music!
Almost six in the morning, the night is coming
to an end, but people ask for more...We say
goodbye with a delicious music after-taste
and again, the proof of evidence that unity is
our strength, Barcelona artists...don’t you ever
give up your dreams and messages!!

 TRAS LA LOCURA DE AGOSTO
Agosto en Barcelona…todo está cerrado o no
funciona (trenes, aeropuerto, servicios…).
Miles de turistas merodean por la ciudad y se
tumban en parques y playas, mientras que los
pocos de nosotros que no pudieron escapar
pisamos el asfalto intentando mantener el
ritmo a pesar de las muchas obras y la ola de
calor húmedo, buscando desesperadamente
una tienda con aire acondicionado donde re-
frescarnos antes de volver a ello. El tráfico
denso no ayuda…
En Agosto no se puede hacer nada, ni hacer
planes, ni arreglar cosas, es el mes en el que
todo y todos paran, no sólo en Barcelona sino
en toda España.
¿Qué hacer? Intenta ser paciente, mantente
fresco y empieza a ahorrar para que sí puedas
viajar a algún lugar el próximo verano.
Septiembre trae un comienzo fresco, nuevos
proyectos y una sensación de vuelta a la car-
ga…Toma su tiempo volver al ritmo de las
cosas, pero enseguida nos olvidamos de la
locura de Agosto, hasta que vuelve…
AFTER AUGUST MADNESS
August in Barcelona…everything’s closed or
doesn’t work (trains, airports, services…).
Thousands of tourists roam the city and ease up
at parks and beaches, while the few of us that
couldn’t get away step on the concrete trying
to keep up with the path despite the many road
works and the humid heat wave, desperately
searching for a store that has air-conditioning
where to freshen up before getting back into it.
The dense traffic doesn’t help…
Nothing gets done, arranged or fixed in Au-
gust, the month in which everything and ever-
yone stops, not just in Barcelona but in the
whole of Spain.
What to do? Try to be patient, keep cool and
start saving so you can actually travel so-
mewhere the next summer.
September brings a fresh start, new projects
and a sense of back in business…It takes a
while to get back into the swing of things, but
quite soon we forget the August madness, un-
til it’s back…

1- Describe tu trabajo.

2- ¿Cómo y cuándo empezaste?
Habiendo estudiado cine y medios audiovis-
uales e interesada en la escena de la música
electrónica, empecé a juguetear con el Veejing
por simple evolución natural hará unos 4 años.
Me inscribí en un taller impartido por el colec-
tivo LectroVision quienes, en un solo mes, se
encargaron de convertirme en adicta total;
además de proporcionarme una sólida base
desde donde empezar a experimentar. después
me tocó generar un banco de imágenes para
poder afrontar un directo, trabajando inicial-
mente sobre material encontrado en internet
y fragmentos de películas al que, progresi-
vamente, fui incorporando material propio.
3- Influencias e inspiraciones
Muchas, puesto que el veejing se nutre de
varias disciplinas artísticas donde confluyen
cine, fotografía, diseño gráfico, animación...
como inspiraciones dentro de este mun-
dillo, destacaría a Juan Rayos porque me
hipnotiza la belleza plástica de sus imágenes
y ese toque onírico que les otorga; y tam-
bién el colectivo Delacrew, porque su dis-
curso, sus vídeos y su música se juntan ma-
ravillosamente en directo como piezas de un
rompecabezas que encaja a la perfección.
4- Proyectos actuales y de futuro próximo
En este momento estoy en plena transforma-
ción. he cambiado Barcelona por Berlín y estoy
empapándome de nuevas energías. no encon-
trándome ya atada a una residencia semanal
después de año y medio, espero poder invertir
mucho más tiempo en grabar y crear nuevos
vídeos, que es mi objetivo a corto plazo. sigo
viajando a Barcelona regularmente por seguir
vinculada al proyecto de LeSFATALeS, colec-
tivo de mujeres relacionadas con la música
electrónica que llevan 5 años repartiendo cali-
dad y diversión por la ciudad. recientemente
participé en el festival LOVEBALL con la vid-
eoinstalación “S(t)IMULATION”, que cuenta
con un tema musical de Animatek bajo una
licencia de Creative Commons que tomé pres-
tado del netlabel Miga. la instalación volverá
a montarse del 1 al 15 de septiembre en la
galería OFF*Ample como parte de la expos-
ición colectiva LOVE.
5- ¿Cuál es tu máxima aspiración cómo VJ?
Como videocreadora, conseguir alcanzar
la técnica y el arte necesarios para plas-
mar en imágenes lo que desarrolle mi
mente, sin tener que hacer concesiones.
6- ¿Qué opinas de la escena de arte Visual en
BCN? ¿Qué cambiarías?
Barcelona tiene una gran concentración de
mentes inquietas y videojunkies implicados en
procesos creativos muy diversos que permite
que nos retroalimentemos, ayudemos y mo-
tivemos mutuamente. compartir esta pasión
con otras gente tan o más videofriki que tú,
te da fuerza para no perder la ilusión. la pena
es que muchos proyectos interesantes no en-
 cuentran salida porque se sigue anclado en un
concepto tradicional y cerrado del espectáculo
y del arte en general. falta abrir más la mente
a formas no tradicionales de expresión y dejar
de valorar la viabilidad de un proyecto bajo un
prisma mercantilista.
7- ¿Qué es RELEVANTe para tí?
Para mí lo más RELEVANTe es DISFRUTAR
con lo que una haces. es la clave.
1- Describe your work
Live visual collage.
2- How and when did you start?
Having studied film and visuals, and being in-
terested in the electronic music scene, I started
playing with the art of VJing about 4 years ago
as a natural evolution. I enroled on a workshop
by LectroVision collective who in just a mon-
th managed to turn me into a total addict; as
well as offer me a solid foundation from which
to start experimenting. After that I had to ge-
nerate a bank of images to be able to face a
live performance, firstly working with material
found in the internet and fragments of films,
which I progressively added my own personal
stuff to.
3- Influences and inspirations
Loads, given that VJing gets fed by various
artistic disciplines, in which cinema, photogra-
phy, graphic design, animation...come toge-
ther. With in the scene I’d mention Juan Rayos
‘cause I get hypnotized by the plastic beauty of
his images and the original touch that grants
them; also, Delacrew collective, ‘cause their
speech, their videos and their music mix to-
gether wonderfully live, like a puzzle that fits
together perfectly.
4- Current and near-future projects
Right now I’m right in a transformation pro-
cess, and I’ve changed Barcelona for Berlin, so
I’m absorving new energies. I’m not tight up
to a weekly residence, after a year and a half, I
hope to be able to spend more time recording

and create new videos, that’s my near-future
goal. I still travel to Barcelona regularly ‘cause
I’m still part of LeSFATALeS project, a women
collective related to electronic music that has
for 5 years been spreading quality and leisure
throughout the city; recently I partcipated at the
LOVEBALL Festival with a Video instalation ca-
lled “S(t)IMULATION”,that has a music track by
Animatekunder under the Creative Commons
license that I borrowed from the netlabel Miga.
The instalation will be shown again the 1st to
the 15th of September at the OFF*Gallery, as
part of the collective exhibition LOVE.
5- What’s your highest aspiration as a VJ?
As a video artist, I’d like to achieve the ne-
cessary technique and art in order to show in
images what my mind develops, without con-
cessions.
6- What do you think about the Visual Art sce-
ne in BCN? What would you change?
Barcelona has a big concentration of restless
minds and videojunkies involved in a diversi-
ty of creative processes that allow us to retro-
feed ourselves, help each other and motivate
one another. To share this passion with others,
as or more video-freakies than me, gives me
strength to keep the dream up. It’s a shame
many interesting projects can’t be out ‘cause
we’re still stuck into a traditional and close-
minded concept of performing and the Arts in
general. The mind needs to open up to non-
traditional expressive ways and must stop loo-
king at a project under a merchandising point
of view.
7- What’s RELEVANT to you?
To me the most RELEVANT thing is to ENJOY
what one does, it’s the key.

1- Describe tu trabajo
Visual en todos los aspectos. �Ahora mismo mi
trabajo es mi vida, no sé si es bueno o malo,
pero de momento me encanta. �Aunque hago
más cosas, ser videojockey es la manera que
tengo de expresar todos mis conocimientos de
imagen, movimiento, ritmo y ganas de fiesta,
adaptándome a la música del momento con
mis propias creaciones y haciendo disfrutar
visualmente a la gente. A veces lo consigo más
y a veces menos....jeje �Pero en todas-todas las
sesiones disfruto como una enana, pues la im-
provisación te pone la adrenalina a tope. ��
2- ¿Cómo y cuándo empezaste?�
La primera vez que hice de videojockey fué de
pequeñaja. Con la tele, un video VHS y un radi-
ocasette me di cuenta de las cosas tan bonitas
que se podían hacer dándole al rewind. �Me
quedé flipada una noche entera en el salón de
mi casa viendo las vacaciones de mi familia a
cámara lenta, rápida, para alante y para atrás,
al ritmo de la música. �La formación artística
que he tenido ha hecho que siempre estuviese
dando bandazos entre el video, el diseño y el
net.art. �Pero hace dos años, de estas veces
que te levantas pensando en cosas serias, me
di cuenta que quería ser videojockey, pues
era una buena opción para mostrar y unir to-
dos mis conocimientos y encima pasármelo
bien. �Un día me invitaron a hacer una sesión
en una sala de Sevilla, lo organizaba Toyota.
Les gustó y al día siguiente me llamaron para
decirme si quería ser la videojockey en la gira
de conciertos que estaban haciendo por toda
España. �Cómo para decir que no...Ahí se
puede decir que empecé a ser vj profesional,
con pantallas enormes, mucho aparatejo y
bastante responsabilidad.
3- Influencias e inspiraciones?�
Me paso 14 horas al día delante del ordenador,
así que me influye y me encanta el arte, la cul-
tura y la comunicación digital. �Me inspira vivir
en este tiempo y en esta sociedad e intento
estar al corriente de las cosas que se hacen
en todo el mundo y sobre todo lo que hacen
mis amigos, otros vjs y la gente que tengo cer-
quita. ��
4- Proyectos actuales y de futuro próximo?�
En estos momentos estoy trabajando con De-
lacrew [que son unos máquinas] en la parte de
diseño, postproducción y motiongraphic. �La
mayor parte del día me lo paso en el estudio
produciendo e intentando repartir el tiempo en-
tre proyectos comerciales y mis cosas. �Como
Vj hago sesiones para Toyota y Samsung du-
rante todo el año. Y también sesiones en clubs
o festivales a los que me invitan y que voy
encantada. �Los proyectos futuros más impor-
tantes que tengo en la cabeza son: �-European
Exhibition of Young Artists en Bruselas �-LPM
Live Performers Meeting en Roma �-Digital
Media en Valencia �-Aniversario Trivial Music
en Barcelona ��
5- ¿Cuál es tu máxima aspiración cómo VJ?�
Creo que cada vez tiendo más a hacer cosas
en las que se mezcla la función de vj con otros
ámbitos artísticos. �Así que tengo varias as-
piraciones: �-Hacer música para mis visuales �-
Hacer montajes a lo grande en los que no te
pongan ninguna pega en cuanto medios. �-Que
la gente salga del club o la sala comentando
las visuales (esta es la más dificil!! jaja) ��
6- ¿Qué opinas de la escena de arte Visual en
BCN? ¿Qué cambiarías?
Va a hacer un año que vivo aquí y me queda mu-
cho por conocer...porque he estado sobretodo
produciendo y no he salido mucho. �Pero pue-
do decir que es un gusto no sentirse un bicho
raro y poder compartir ideas, conocimientos y
emociones con la gente que te rodea, porque
la mayoría hacen lo mismo que tú. Barcelona
está llena de artistas. �La escena visual aquí,
como en todas partes, va lentamente pero con
paso firme. Ya nos hemos dado cuenta de su
importancia en nuestra vida, ahora solo falta
afinar un poco. �Cuando me invitan para una
exposición me hace mucha ilusión, porque es
la muestra de que la sociedad artística emp-
ieza a considerar a los vjs como una parte de
ella. �Y cambiar, cambiar...no cambiaría nada,
todo tiene su ritmo, y lo vamos haciendo entre
todos, que es lo bonito. ��
7- ¿Qué es RELEVANTe para tí? Desde ahora
una revista �
1- Describe your work.
Visuals in every aspect. Right now my work
is my life, I don’t know if that’s good or bad,
but for the moment I’m loving it. �Although I
do other things, being a Vj is a way I’ve got
to express all my knowledge in image, motion,
rhythm and a party mood, adapting to the mu-
sic of the moment with my own creations and
visually giving people a good time. Sometimes
I sort of make it, other times less...hehe. �But in
each and everyone of the sessions I enjoy to
the max, improvising raises the adrenaline.
2- How and when did you start?
I was really young when I first started VJing. I
noticed the beautiful things I could make pres-
sing the rewind button, with a TV, a VHS vi-
deo player and a cassette player. �I stayed up
 all night, buzzing in my home’s living-room,
watching my family’s holiday in slow and fast
motion, forwarded and rewind, to the rhythm
of music. Because of my artistic formation, I’ve
always been torn between video, design and
net art. But, about two years ago, one of those
days when you awake thinking about serious
stuff, I became aware that I wanted to be a Vj,
for it was a good option to show and compiled
all my knowledge, as well as having a good
time with it.
One day I was invited to do a session at a club
in Seville, organized by Toyota. They liked it
and called me the next day to ask me to be Vj
on the Spanish tour they were doing. There
was no way I could refuse...That’s when we
could say I started being a professional Vj,
with huge screens, loads of equipment and a
big responsibility.
3- Influences and inspirations?
I spend 14 hours a day in front of the computer,
so I’m influenced and I love art, culture and di-
gital communication. It’s inspiring to me to live
in these times and in this society, and I try to
keep updated about everything that’s going on
everywhere, specially what my friends, other
Vjs and people close to me are into.
4- Current and near-future projects?
I’m currently working with Delacrew [top guys]
doing design, post-production and motion
graphic. �I’m at the studio producing most of
the day, and trying to make time to do my com-
mercial projects as well as my personal stuff.
As a Vj I do sessions for Toyota and Samsung
throughout the year. I also do sessions at clubs
and festivals which I’m invited to and do with
pleasure.
The most important future projects off the top
of my head are:
-European Exhibition of Young Artists in Brus-
sels �-LPM Live Performers Meeting in Rome �-
Digital Media in Valencia �-Aniversario Trivial
Music in Barcelona
5- What’s your highest aspiration as a VJ?
Every time I tend to do more mixing the Vj task
with other artistic fields.
So I’ve got various aspirations: �- To do music
for my visuals.�- To do big installations, with no
budget limitations.�- I’d like people to come out
from the club or venue commenting about the
visuals (that’s the hardest one!! haha) �
6- What do you think about the Visual Arts
scene in BCN? What would you change?
I’ve been living here for a year now and I sti-
ll have loads to discover...I’ve been mainly
producing and haven’t been going out much.

But I can say it’s a relief not to feel an outcast
and being able to share ideas, knowledge
and emotions with people around, as most of
them do the same as I do. Barcelona is full of
artists. �The visual scene here, as everywhere,
is slow but sure. We’ve realized the importance
of it in our lives, now we only have to tune in
a bit. �When I’m invited to an exhibition I get
really excited, it shows how the artistic so-
ciety is starting to consider Vjs as part of it. �I
wouldn’t really change anything, everything
has its rhythm, and we’re slowly getting there
together, that’s the beauty of it.
7- What’s RELEVANT to you?
From now on,a magazine.

Mi trabajo consiste en complementar el entor-
no musical con el entorno visual. Desde diseño
y creación de videos, imágenes y animaciones
a la proyección y mezcla en vivo de los visu-
ales al sonido de la música.
2- ¿Cómo y cuándo empezaste?
La primera vez que proyecté fue en el 2004,
pero fue mucho tiempo antes de que supiera
que quería hacerlo. En 2003 empecé a preparar
todas las condiciones hardware, software y ha-
ciendo vídeos y animaciones para proyectar. A
mediados de 2004, Chloe Tolmer, con quien
trabajaba, me consiguió unos bolos para hacer
visuales y todo empezó…
3- Influencias e inspiraciones
Mi principal inspiración es la música, mejor di-
cho, la música es inspiración.
Influencias, la mezcla entre lo real, la ficción y
la abstracción, detalles, cosas que están pero
que no se pueden ver (ir un poco más allá de
la superficie), la re-creación de lo real, pasando
por conceptos como la simplicidad, la armonía
y el equilibrio, el color, la geometría, tan válidos
como el concepto del objeto ‘normal’ pero no
siempre considerados conscientemente.
4- Proyectos actuales y de futuro próximo
Actualmente tengo mi residencia de Vj en el
Nitsa, sala Apolo, y en los festivales Primav-
era Sound y Primavera Club, he sido invitada a
colaborar con el sello de visuales Lightrhythm
Visuals, y estoy colaborando con Hierro (Im-
molate music) en un proyecto de audiovis-
uales Kubiko.
5- ¿Cuál es tu máxima aspiración cómo VJ?
Antes que todo, crecer, mejorar y perfeccionar
substancialmente en este ámbito (seria más
como un proceso continuo)...

6- ¿Qué opinas de la escena de arte Visual en
BCN? ¿Qué cambiarías?
La escena de arte visual está bastante desarrol-
lada, lo que es un factor importante, muy sig-
nificativo y bastante positivo.
7- ¿Qué es RELEVANTe para tí?
Relevant es algo que hacia falta en la escena
Drum’n’Bass, y finalmente lo han logrado

1- Describe your work
My visuals are designed so that they comple-
ment the music. From design and video crea-
tion with images and animation, to projection
and visuals mixed to the sound of music live.
2- How and when did you start?
The first time I projected was in 2004, but that
was long before I knew I wanted to do it. In
2003, I started to prepare the hardware, soft-
ware conditions and videos and animations to
project. Half way through 2004, Chloe Tolmer,
who I was working with, got me some gigs to
do visuals, and everything started…
3- Influences and inspirations
My main inspiration is music, or better, music
is inspiration.
Influences; the mix between the real, the fiction
and the abstraction, details, things that are but
that can’t be seen (to go beyond the surface),
the recreation of reality, going through con-
cepts such as simplicity, harmony and balan-
ce, colour, geometry, as valid as the concept of
the “normal” object but not always considered
consciously.
4- Current and near-future projects
I’m currently resident Vj at Nitsa, Apolo club,
and at Primavera Sound and Primavera Club
Festivals. I’ve been invited to collaborate with
the visuals Lightrhythm Visuals, and I’m co-
llaborating with Hierro (Immolate music) in a
visuals project called Kubiko.
5- What’s your highest aspiration as a VJ?
Beyond anything else, to grow up, improve
and perfect substancially in this field (it’s more
a continual process)...

6- What do you think about the Visual Arts
scene in BCN? What would you change?
The Visual Arts scene is quite developed, whi-
ch is an important fact, very significative and
quite positive.

1- Describe tu trabajo
Mi trabajo como vj consiste en crear videos en
casa, usando mi cámara mini dv, capturando
y utilizando varios programas de edición de
video y de diseño… Después… en montar el
equipo de video y proyectar. Puede ser en una
discoteca o en un espectáculo concreto, puede
ser que la instalación esté hecha o que la tenga
que diseñar y montar, puede que el material
ya esté o lo tenga que traer yo… Tema vjing
de club, son seis horas, ahí intento decorar
la sala con vídeos que, a mi parecer, quedan
bien con la atmósfera sonora que crea el dj.
Ahí es donde se ve el trabajo de sintoniza-
ción del vj. He de decir que son demasiadas
horas para estar al 100%, así que es probable
que a ratos el vídeo no vaya sincronizado.
Después hay festivales, como el Trivial Mu-
sic (actuamos en octubre) en el que nos han
contratado para una actuación de dos ho-
ras, sería lo ideal… me pregunto si un dj se
pasaría seis horas pinchando en cada sesión…
2- ¿Cómo y cuándo empezaste?
Empecé a hacer vídeo hace muchos años,
desde la adolescencia me siento atraída por
el vídeo, por sus inmensas capacidades de ex-
presión. El tema vj, lo sigo desde hace tiempo
porque un amigo mío (mi maestro, jeje), Txam-
pa, lleva ya unos añitos con el tema y además
he crecido de fiesta en fiesta, atraída por la
cultura de club, de repente llegó el momento
de pasarme al otro lado, dejar de ser público
para pasar a aportar contenido y color a las
sesiones de un club. Así que practico vjing de
verdad, hace un añito solo, pero no he parado,

 me lo he tomado en serio, lo disfruto, creo
que es algo muy nuevo, que mucha gente no
entiende y somos nosotros, desde dentro, los
que tenemos que luchar por hacernos valorar.
3- Influencias e inspiraciones
Mis influencias más directas surgen de mi li-
cenciatura en publicidad, los dos últimos años
de carrera, además de ver los anuncios de la
tele, me tocaba analizarlos en clase. Creo que
eso me ha inculcado una manera de crear que
consiste en transmitir la máxima información
con la mínima cantidad de frames… Al fin y
al cabo mis vídeos duran eso, de 15 a 30 se-
gundos, como un anuncio. Después están
los colectivos amigos, que han estado ahí
siempre para dejarme material o para apor-
tarme conocimientos; nombro a los tres más
importantes, aunque hay muchos más: Tx-
ampa (www.colectivointerrupt.com y www.
txampa.com), Javi (www.fckvision.com)
y Javo_do not disturb (www.leitmotiv.cc).
La inspiración de mis videos nace de la necesi-
dad de expresión, ya sea transmitiendo la
realidad tal como es o de colores y texturas
distintas. Me gusta evocar sensaciones y emo-
ciones, expresar ideas, opiniones, transmitir
mensajes mediante videos creados por mí.
4- Proyectos actuales y de futuro próximo
Mi proyecto más actual es Blumen Project
(www.blumenproject.blogspot.com). Somos
E.T + VOLÀTIL, Paula y Eleonora. No llevamos
mucho tiempo juntas pero ya hemos hecho
un espectáculo de vídeo-danza para el Fsti-
val Loop en el Centro Cívico Espai Jove Boca
Nord, una fiesta para el Ayuntamiento de
Santa Perpetua, sets de visuales en Be Cool,
La Cova, City Hall, KGB, Razzmatazz, The
Loft, entre otras. También hemos participado
en el festival de videoarte de Cadaqués, con
una pieza de Eleonora que podeis ver en su
myspace(www.myspace.com/laartesanavis-
ual) y con un live para cerrar el festival con
la música de Aktiv (myspace.com/moefsee).
Estuvo bien porque llevamos a Cadaqués
el concepto de vjing y de live (allí parecían
no ser muy conscientes de su existencia).
¿Proyectos de futuro? Lograr que el vjing
sea una profesión reconocida, que se nos
pague bien por nuestro trabajo, que se val-
ore…. Y en paralelo, avanzar al ritmo de
las nuevas tecnologías, de los nuevos pro-
gramas, actualizando conocimientos e in-
tentando ser creativa, el problema es que
tengo muchas ideas y muy poco tiempo...
5- ¿Cuál es tu máxima aspiración cómo VJ?
Mi máxima aspiración como vj es salir de las

salas de baile y proyectar en galerías de arte,
en espectáculos audiovisuales donde las imá-
genes tengan un peso importante. También
quiero, además de ser creativa en los conte-
nidos de mis vídeos, serlo en la manera de
montar las instalaciones. Me gustaría desarr-
ollar técnicas de proyección e instalaciones.
6- ¿Qué opinas de la escena de arte Visual en
BCN? ¿Qué cambiarías?
La escena vj en Barcelona está bastante limita-
da, salas como Razzmatazz y The Loft deberían
ser el ejemplo a seguir por como tratan a los
artistas… queda mucho camino por recorrer
y muchos dueños de salas por convencer… y
mucho que luchar… pero no lo veo todo perdi-
do… veo un ápice de esperanza, pero aún falta
que se nos valore y se nos reconozca como
nos merecemos. Desde lo que cobramos,
hasta la presencia en carteles, flyers y webs.
7- ¿Qué es RELEVANTe para tí?
Relevant es una revista de arte y música urba-
na, creo que bastante nueva... que se interese
por hacer entrevistas a vj’s me parece síntoma
de un interés claro por estar a la última en ten-
dencias y arte…
1- Describe your work
My work as a Vj consists of creating home-vi-
deos, using my mini dv camera, capturating
and using various programs of video edition
and design...After...I get the equipment toge-
ther and project it. It can be done at a club or
specific show, the installation may be done
already or I may have to design it and assem-
ble it, the equipment may be there or I have to
bring it myself...about Vjing at a club, it’s six
hours, then I try to decorate the venue with
videos that I think suit the sound atmosphere
created by the Dj. That is when the Vj’s syn-
chronization work really shows. I must say it’s
too long time to actually be 100% , so there
may be times when the video isn’t actually
synchronized. Although, there are festivals like
Trivial Music (we perform in October) in whi-
ch we’ve been hired to work for two hours, it’s
perfect...I ask myself if a Dj could mix for six
hours in every session...
2- How and when did you start?
I’ve started doing video many years ago, I’ve
been attracted to video since my teenager
years, by its wide capacities of expression. I’ve
known about Vjing for a long time because a
friend of mine (my teacher, hehe), Txampa,
he’s been involved in it for many years, also
I’ve grown up from party to party, attracted by
the club culture, when the time to be on the
other side came up, time to stop being the au-
dience and add content and colour to the club
sessions. So, I’ve only been truly into Vjiing for
a year, but I haven’t stopped, I’ve taken it serio-
usly and I enjoy it. I think it’s something really
new that a lot of people don’t understand, and
it’s up to us, from the inside, to get respected
for it.
3- Influences and inspirations
My most direct influences come from my de-
gree in Publicity, the last two years at Univer-
sity, apart from seeing TV ads, I had to anali-
ze them in class. I recogn that has given me
a way of creating that consists in transmiting
as much information as possible with the least
amount of frames...Besides, my videos aren’t
that long, 15 to 30 seconds, like an advert.
Also, there are friend collectives that have
always been there to lend me equipment or
share their knowledge; I’ll mention the three
main ones, but there are many more: Txam-
pa (www.colectivointerrupt.com and www.
txampa.com), Javi (www.fckvision.com)
and Javo_do not disturb (www.leitmotiv.cc).
The inspiration for my videos are born from
the need to express, either being straight rea-
lity or adding colours and different textures. I
like to evoke sensations and emotions, to ex-
press ideas, opinions, to transmit messages by
means of videos created by myself.
4- Current and near-future projects
My latest project is Blumen Project (www.
blumenproject.blogspot.com). We are E.T +
VOLÀTIL, Paula and Eleonora. We haven’t
been that long together but we’ve already
done a video-dance show at Loop Festival, at
Centro Cívico Espai Jove Boca Nord, a party
by Santa Perpetua’s Council, visual sets at
Be Cool, La Cova, City Hall, KGB, Razzmata-
zz, The Loft, among others. We’ve also parti-
cipated at Cadaqués Videoart Festival, with a
piece by Eleonora that you can watch on her
MySpace account (www.myspace.com/laarte-
sanavisual), we closed the festival with a live
act and music by Aktiv (myspace.com/moef-
see). It was cool because we’ve brought Vjing
and the live concept to Cadaqués (they didn’t
seem very aware of their existence over there).
Future projects? To make of Vjing a recog-
nized profession, to be well-paid and res-
pected by our work...And alongside, to ad-
vance to the rhythm of new technologies,
new programs, keeping knowledge upda-
ted and trying to be creative, the problem is
I’ve got loads of ideas but very little time...
5- What’s your highest aspiration as a VJ?
My highest aspiration as a Vj is to move on
from the night clubs and project at art ga-
lleries, at audiovisual shows where images
would play an important role. I’d also like to be
creative at setting the installations as much as
in being creative within the videos content. I’d
like to develop techniques on projecting and
doing installations.
6- What do you think about the Visual Arts
scene in BCN? What would you change?
The Vj scene in Barcelona is quite limited, ve-
nues like Razzmatazz and The Loft should set
an example on how to treat their artists...there’s
still loadz to be done and many club owners to
convince...and loads to fight...but I don’t see it
as a lost battle...I see a bit of hope, but we still
have to be valued and recognized as we well-
deserve. Starting from what we get paid, to
the presence on posters, flyers and websites.
7- What’s RELEVANT to you?
Relevant is a urban Art and Music magazine,
quite new I think...the fact that it’s up for do-
ing interviews to Vjs shows a clear symptom
of interest in being updated on the latest art
trends.

DOWNTOWN REGGAE
Viernes 20 de Julio, Campo de Fútbol Municipal La Satàlia

Por cuarta vez consecutiva se celebró en

Barcelona el Downtown Reggae Festival, la iniciativa más
innovadora y comprometida con las raíces jamaicanas y la escena
Dancehall del estado. Hacía las 17h de la tarde los aerosoles de los pintores
ya estaban apunto para lanzar un mensaje al mundo des de poble Sec: “Deja un
mensaje en la sociedad y no en el planeta”. Una iniciativa que contó con participantes
de lujo en un muro de más de 25 metros donde pintores de la reputación de Sendy’s, Asia,
Kader o Pez dejaron huella con mensaje.

También a media tarde empezaron las actuaciones musicales. Las primeras sound systems tuvi-
eron la difícil misión de empezar a caldear el ambiente. Nunca Aún así, Baba Sound, Urtica, Luv
Messenger y Nyahbingi dejaron el listón bien alto. Benjammin’ y Nemo fueron las primeras rep-
resentaciones internacionales del Downtown 2007 a medida que el público crecía y se acercaba
con cada vez más ganas delante del escenario
El primer plato fuerte de la noche llego con Chulito Camacho, el madrileño, repasó uno a uno
algunos de los hits que lo han hecho famoso y que fueron coreados ampliamente por los que
nos encontrábamos ahí.
Después de éste y previo a un calentamiento
de Kill Dem Crew aparecería uno de los, sin duda,
triunfadores de la noche: Daddy Mory. Concierto espectacu-
lar se marcó el francés. Un show trepidante del exRaggasonic que
puso al público catalán patas arriba sin dejar de botar un solo momento. La no-
che ya estaba bien entrada cuando Jah Mason se disponía a cerrar esta nueva edición del
Dowtown Reggae Festival. El abogado está en la primera división del New Roots y el Dancehall
a nivel mundial y eso se nota. Un concierto muy sobrio y que ponía los pelos de punta dada la
calidad del artista que estaba en el escenario.

Por fin se acercaba la hora de Lone Ranger, toda una leyenda jamaicana y un referente inelud-
ible dentro del Dancehall, acompañado de Soul Stereo. Durante una hora Ranger demostró su
buen hacer y su veteranía que lo ha llevado a ser un mito viviente para cualquier amante de está
música. Al acabar el jamaicano apareció en el escenario Markooz, el cual demostró porque es el
campeón estatal de Beatbox.
Se acercaba la hora de acabar cuando sucedió uno de esos momentos por los que uno ama está
música. Con Jah Mason en el escenario Daddy Mory y Lone Ranger subieron a hacer un par de
temas los tres juntos. Una sesión que sin lugar a duda quedará gravada en la retina de todos los
presentes allí. Fue la mejor manera imaginable de acabar el Dowtown Reggae de este año.

DOWNTOWN REGGAE

Municipal La Satàlia
The Downtown Reggae Festival has been ce-
lebrated in Barcelona for the fourth time; it
was an innovative initiative compromised to
the Jamaican roots and the Dancehall scene
in Spain.
Around 5 pm the artist’s sprays were ready to
throw a message to the world from Poble Sec:
“Leave a message to society and not to the
planet”. An initiative that counted with luxury
participants in a wall more than 25 metres tall,
where artists with the reputation of Sendy’s,
Asia, Kader o Pez left an imprint with a mes-
sage.
Also, the music performances started at mid-
afternoon. The first sound systems had the
difficult mission to warm up the atmosphere.
Nunca Aún así, Baba Sound, Urtica, Luv Mes-
senger and Nyahbingi left the strip high. Ben-
jammin’ and Nemo were the first Downtown
2007 international acts, whilst the audience
was growing and was more willing to get clo-
ser to the stage.
The first big name of the night came with Chu-
lito Camacho, from Madrid, who went through
one by one to some of the hits that made him
famous and that were sung along widely by
the ones we were present there.

At last, Lone Ranger time was coming, a real
Jamaican legend and an inescapable referee
into the Dancehall, along with Soul Stereo. For
an hour, Ranger showed his well-doing and his
experience that has made him a myth alive to
any music lover. When the Jamaican finished,
Markooz appeared onstage, and he showed us
why he’s Spain’s Beatbox champion.
After him and previous to a warm up by Kill
Dem Crew, one of the night winners, no doubt,
appeared: Daddy Mory. The French man gave
a spectacular concert. The exRaggasonic’s
show stared the Catalan crowd, who were
non-stop jumping up. It was late night when
Jah Mason was about to close the Dowtown
Reggae Festival’s new edition. The lawyer is at
first division’s worldwide New Roots and Dan-
cehall, and that shows. A very sober gig that,
given the artist on stage’s high quality, gave
you shivers.
It was nearly closing time, when one of those
moments why you love this music happened.
With Jah Mason onstage Daddy Mory and
Lone Ranger came up to do a cupple of tunes,
the three of them together. A session that un-
doubtedly will stay engraved in the eyes of the
ones there present. It was the best imaginable
way to end this year’s Dowtown Reggae.

BARXINO TOUR OF GERMANY 2007
He estado fuera de gira la mayor parte del mes,
así que en lugar del resumen mensual de Hip
Hop he aquí una pequeña nota reveladora so-
bre ¡¡ la vida en la carretera !!
Para los que no sepáis, BARXINO es un grupo
nacido en Barcelona que ha estado activo los
últimos 5 años aquí, en Barna. La raíz principal
del grupo es el estilo latino y fusiona Hip Hop,
2 Step, DnB, Reggae y Funk para formar un
sound system electrónico de sonido único.
El 28 de Julio emprendimos el camino de 20
horas, en nuestro mini bus, hacia nuestro
primer destino: Dortmund, para el festival
Juicy Beats Después de un largo camino y
mucho tráfico por las vaciones de verano, por
fín llegamos al Hilton de 4 estrellas con cara
de muertos vivientes. Tras dormir unas horas
y disfrutar delos lujo del hotel, nos dirijimos
al parque para la prueba de sonido...Qué gran
festival...3 escenarios principales 4 sound sys-
tems y la suficiente cantidad de birra alemana
cómo para hundir el Titanic de nuevo. Tocamos
a las 6 de la tarde en el escenario World Beat,
el bolo fué genial y fue retransmitido en directo
en la radio nacional alemana. Por desgracia D.j.
Vadim estaba pinchando en otro escenario al
mismo tiempo, así que nos lo perdimos. Pero
lo compensamos con una instalación de Lon-
don Elektricity y Yellow Man junto a the Sagi-
tarius Band, de Kingston (Jamaica). La música
en directo finalizó a las 10 de la noche. Llle-
gados a este punto todos los sound systems
estaban a tope con los mejores Dj´s de Alema-
nia ofreciéndonos una selección fina de DnB,
Dubstep, Dance Hall, Funky-House y Hip Hop
hasta las 4 de la mañana, qué fiestón!! Tengo
que agradecer a los organizadores del festival
por cuidarnos tan bien y por las provisiones de
comida y cerveza gratis en el “backsatge” toda
la noche!! Si estás planeando ir a algún festival
el próximo verano ¡¡no te puedes perder este!!

Tras un día relajado en la piscina, el gimna-
sio y la sauna del hotel Hilton nos volvimos a
montar en el autobús mágico y nos pusimos en
marcha hacia nuestro próximo destino Klon.
Una de las noches tocamos en el club Under-
ground en Klon y fue genial. Los de la sala
montaron el lugar con temática tailandesa y
tocamos rodeados de budhas, incienso y velas,
muy civilizado...tras esto nos enganchamos de
nuevo a la cerveza alemana gratis y disfruta-
mos de un fantástico set de Djs de música ét-
nica.

El 4º día fuímos a Berlín un par de días, dónde
acampamos en un estudio/bar y celebramos el
cumpleaños de nuestro tour manager (Sepi)
una vez más la famosa cerveza alemana hizo
su aparición junto a algunas cosillas verdes...
hicimos una jam y el resto es un recuerdo bor-
roso. El día siguiente lo pasamos dándonos una
vuelta tranquila por Berlin y por la noche nos
dirigimos al Cafe Zapata, si vas a Berlín aseg-
úrate de ir a este local, es increíble!! Tocamos
un set de DnB ahí el pasado mayo y lo reco-
mendaría a cualquiera que esté pensando en ir
a pinchar a Berlín...(www.kafezapata.com)
Después de 2 días libres, nos dirigimos a Ham-
burgo, donde tocamos en el club Exil. Ham-
burgo es increíble!!! Es cómo Barcelona hace 4
años, barata, relajada y con una buena escena
musical.
El próximo destino fué Detmold, dónde nos
contrataron para tocar en la plaza mayor de
la ciudad...Un cambio curioso después de
nuestros bolos anteriores, es una ciudad rica
y conservadora y tuvimos que comportarnos
y darle la mano a un montón de ricos calvos,
dejamos la ceveza alemana a un lado. De todas
formas, la asistencia al concierto fue masiva:
4000 con fuerza, lo conseguimos de nuevo...
El momento final se acercaba, habíamos es-
tado 7 días en la carretera y el mini bus em-
pezaba a oler cómo el aliento del Presidente
Bush (apestoso) y soñaba con una noche en mi
propia cama durmiendo más que las 7 horas
de media de los últimos días!! Nuestro último
destino era Munich, a 6 horas en coche de norte
a sur de Alemania, para cuando llegamos esta-
bamos listos para darlo todo en nuestra última
noche de gira. Fabi y su equipo nos cuidaron
bien en el kafe Marrat y, después de una larga
prueba de sonido, le dimos caña al sonido una
vez más.
Misión cumplida: 5 bolos y 6 ciudades en 8 días.
La cerveza alemana apareció de nuevo mien-
tras nos enzarzamos en una reñida partida de
futbolín mientras Fabi y su equipo mezclaban
un Dance Hall buenísimo de “after party”.
Todo lo que nos quedaba por cumplir eran las
20 horas del camino de vuelta a casa en Barce-
lona, pero con una caja llena de Jaegamister y
cerveza alemana, todo es posible.

I have been away touring most of the last
month so instead of the monthly hip hop round
up here is a little insight into life on the road!!
For those of you who don´t know, BARXINO is a
Barcelona born band and has been active here
for the past 5 years in Barna. The main root of
the band is latino style and it fuses Hip Hop, 2
Step, DnB, Reggae and Funk to form an electro
sound system with a unique sound.
On the 28th of July we set off in our mini bus
on a 20 hour road trip to our first destination:
Dortmund, for the Juicy Beats festival. After a
long journey and a lot of summer holiday tra-
ffic, we finally arrived at the 4 star Hilton loo-
king like the walking dead. After a few hours
sleep and some luxury hotel time we headed
over to the park for the sound check...What a
great festival...3 main stages 4 sound systems
and enough free German beer to sink the Tita-
nic again. We played at 6pm on the World Beat
stage, the gig was great and was broadcasted
out live on national German radio. The only
downer was D.j. Vadim was playing on a diffe-
rent stage at the same time so we missed out
on that one. But we made up for it with an ins-

Jamaica. The live music finished at 10pm. At
which point all the sound systems kicked off
with Germanys finest d.j´s bringing us a fine
selection of DnB, Dubstep, Dance Hall, Funky-
House and Hip Hop till 4am, what a party!! Got
to send a massive shout out to all the organi-
sers of the festival for looking after us so well
and the free food and beer they provided from
back stage all day and night!! If your planning
to go to any festivals next summer this one is a

After a relaxing day in the Hilton swimming
pool, gym and sauna we all climbed back into
the magic bus and headed off to our next des-
tination; Klon. We played one night at the Un-
derground club in Klon, which was great. The
staff set up the club in a Thai theme and we
played the gig surrounded by budhas, insence
and candles, very civilized...afterwards, we got
stuck into some more free German beer and
enjoyed a great Dj set of World Music.
Day 4 we headed to Berlin for a couple of days
off where we camped out in a studio/ bar and
celebrated the tour manager’s (Sepi) birthday,
again the famous german beer made ano-
ther guest appearance alongside some green
things...we had a long jam and the rest is a blur.
The following day was spent moving round
Berlin very slowly and in the evening we made
our way to cafe Zapata, if you go to Berlin make
sure you check this venue out, it’s amazing!!
We played a DnB set there back in May and I
would recomend it as a venue to play for any
one looking to rinse out in Berlin...(www.kafe-

After our 2 days off we then made our way to
Hamburg where we played in the Exil club.
Hamburg is amazing!!! It’s like Barcelona 4
years ago, cheap, relaxed and with a great mu-
sic scene.
The next destination was Detmold, where we
were booked to play the main town square...
It was an interesting change from our previo-
us gigs as it was a very conservative wealthy
town so we had to behave ourselves and shook
hands with lots of rich bald men, and we gave
the famous German beer a break. The turn out
for the gig was great though: 4000 strong, we
rocked it again...
By this point the end was near, we had been 7
days on road the mini bus was starting to smell
like President Bush’s breath (full of shit) and I
longed for a nights sleep in my own bed lasting
more than the average nightly 7 hours!! Final
destination was Munich, it was a six hour drive
from the north of Germany to the south and by
the time we arrived we were ready to give it lar-
ge for our last gig of the tour. Fabi and his team
looked after us well at the kafe Marrat and after
a long sound check we blasted out our sound
one more time.
Mission accomplished 5 gigs and 6 city’s in 8
days. The German beer appeared once again
as we all got stuck into a very rowdy table
football contest while Fabi and his crew rinsed
out some wicked Dance Hall for the after party.
All that was left to accomplish was the 20 hour
journey home again to Barcelona but with a
cool box full of Jaegamister and German beer
any thing is possible.

¿Cuál es vuestra aspiración como grupo?
Hacer música y conocer a gente qué inspira a
hacer más música! Mover a la gente emocion-

apoyo e infraestructura financiera en la ciudad,
es que alimenta una sensación de verdadera
colaboración entre los músicos, en lugar de
competividad. BCN es un lugar maravilloso
para conocer gente de mentalidad musical,
compartir y desarrollar proyectos...solo tienes
que ver nuestra lista de colaboradores cómo
evidencia de ello...pero, por desgracia, tienes
que irte a otro lugar si quieres apoyo financie-
ro y promoción internacional.

Ya en los ochenta se pintaba la ropa con pintu-
ra de spray, en Nueva York y Filadelfia, donde
los colectivos de Breakers y Graffity pintaban
la parte trasera de sus chaquetas tejanas con
su nombre o frases populares; los colores eran
vivos y llenos de expression. Hoy, la diseña-
dora local Tina Ziegler, ha dado otro enfoque a
la ropa pintada.

Tina Ziegler empezó a diseñar ropa a los 15

años; creció en la tienda de costura de su ma-
dre, rodeada de telas y máquinas desde tem-
prana edad. Empezó una empresa de ropa con
graffiti con sólo 16 años, llamada Lucid Gear,
que todavía se vende en algunas tiendas de
EEUU. Siempre trabajando con pintura de
spray y tela, sprayando cada pieza para añadir
algunos elementos artísticos.

Cuando se trasladó a Seattle en 2003 trabajó

con algunos de los mejores artistas de la zona,
bajo el nombre de L5, se hizo muy amiga de
los artistas Peek-a-boo y Angle 179, y traba-
jaron juntos haciendo exclusivos vestidos y
faldas pintadas a mano. Tina diseñaba y cosía
la prenda, mientras que el artista pintaba libre-
mente lo que quisiera en ella.

Cuando se trasladó a Barcelona en el 2004,

rapidamente empezó a trabajar para crear des-
files de moda y una amplia línea de prendas
trabajadas con artistas locales. Entre 2004 y
2006 produjo 6 desfiles de moda en Barcelona,
trabajando con los artistas Pez, Kram, Klinis-
but, Asia, Dry, Mateo-lara y muchos más.

Actualmente Tina ha dejado el diseño a un

Painting your clothing with spray paint dates
back to the early eighties in New York and
Philadelphia where breaker crews and graffi-
ti crews would paint the back of their denim
jackets with their name or a popular slogan,
the colors were bright, and full of expression.
Today, Local designer, Tina Ziegler has taken a
new approach to painted clothing.

Tina started designing clothing when she was

15; growing up in her moms sewing shop she
was surrounded by fabric and sewing machi-
nes at an early age. She started a graffiti clo-
thing company at the young age of 16, called
Lucid Gear, which still sells in a few shops in
America. She always worked with spray paint
and fabric, spraying each garment with a touch
of paint to add some artistic elements. When
she moved to Seattle in 2003 she worked with
some of the best artists in the area under the
name L5. Artist Peek-a-boo and Angle 179 be-
came close friends, and together they worked
on making one of a kind hand painted dresses
and skirts. Tina would design and sew the gar-
ment, as the artist would paint freely what they
wanted on the piece.

When she moved to Barcelona in 2004, she

quickly started working on creating fashion
shows and a large line of garments working
with the local artists. Between 2004 and 2006
she produced 6 fashion shows in Barcelona,
working with artists Pez, Kram, Klinisbut, Asia,
Dry, Mateo-lara, and many more.

She produced a large collection of all hand pa-

inted women’s clothing, and displayed them in
type of fashion show- art gallery- party event
that she organized with the help of Fin.

historia, con pioneros como SUPER KOOL 223
haciendo los primeros textos en burbuja, hasta
JULIO 204 el primero en escribir el número de
su calle después de su nombre. Desde aquello

y vagones del metro era la mejor manera para
estrenar tus obras y ayudaba al movimiento a

Paredes y furgonetas son más comunes hoy
en día .Las leyes se intensifican y las vallas se
ponen más altas, haciendo la pintura de trans-
portes cada vez más difícil.
Para hablar sobre Graffiti en Nueva York seria-
mente, necesitaríamos un mes y un libreta de
3.000 páginas. Una verdadera lección de his-
toria.
Si visitas Nueva Cork, un buen sitio para ver
es Brooklyn, el hogar del graffiti, otro sitio es
Five Points (cinco puntos) dónde hay una zona
pequeña forrada de arriba a abajo. Una buena
película para ver es ´´Wild Style´´ (Estilo Loco)
dirigido por ZEPHYR, Charlie Ahearn y Fab
5 Freddy, que trata en parte de la historia de
la cultura Hip Hop y el Graffiti en Nueva York
en los 80. En cuanto a hoy, el Graffiti es una
adicción global y parece que sus influencias
rebotan desde Europa hasta Estados Unidos.
Aquí en Europa, artistas italianos y alemanes

 lo están llevando hasta el próximo nivel, con personajes y piezas 3D. Recorrer Alemania en tren,
o incluso dar un paseo por Barcelona es una buena manera de verlo y tener una buena lección
en plantilla y pintura.

Graffiti in New York is a history subject, with the pioneers like SUPER KOOL 223 doing the first
bubble letter piece, to JULIO 204, first to write his street number after his name. From that we
have names like TAKI 183, TOPCAT 126, ZEPHYR, REVOLT, CAN 2, T-KID 170, COPE 2, PART,
TORE, DEMER, DEEM, MUSE, DAZE, and the list continues. Back in the day, painting freight
trains and metros were the best ways to get your moving piece seen around the city quickly, and
this helped the movement greatly to expand. Walls and trucks are more common today as the
laws tighten and the fences get higher, making freight painting in NYC almost impossible.
To seriously speak about Graffiti in New York we would need a month and a 3000 page notebook,
a full on history lesson.

If you’re visiting New York a good spot to go to is Brooklyn, a home for graffiti, another spot is
Five Points, a small area where the walls are covered from top to bottom. A good movie to watch
is “Wild Style” directed by ZEPHYR, Charlie Ahearn and Fab 5 Freddy, which covers some of the
history of the hip hop culture and graffiti in NYC back in the early 80’s. As for today, Graffiti is a
World Wide addiction, and influences of styles seem to bounce back and forth from Europe to
America. Here in Europe, German and Italian writers are taking it to the next level with 3D pieces
and characters. Traveling through Germany on a train will be a good way to see it, or even taking
a trip around Barcelona for a good lesson on stencils and hit-ups.

Well, during a trip to NYC, I went on a graffiti photo mission, and here is some of what I discove-
red. Please keep in mind this is just a short view of NYC graffiti, and take the next step to educate
yourself about this culture and this movement.

RESUMEN D´n´B DEL VERANO POR STORMY

Sí sí, desenfundo mis ruedas de “selector” y allá voy de nuevo...volvamos al principio y reca-
pitulemos lo que se ha estado haciendo en la escena D´n´B de Barcelona este último verano
del 2007.
En fín, no es que tenga la mejor memoria del mundo y ya se que he estado un poco fuera
de gira. Así que, mis disculpas a quien se me olvide mencionar y cree que debería serlo...ahí
va...
Normalmente el verano es mal momento para el D´n´B, el calor aprieta y muchos Dj´s y Mc´s
actúan fuera de la ciudad, pero este año ha sido muy diferente...
En primer lugar, no han faltado grandes nombres este verano. Gracias a los buenos contactos
y a la buena voluntad de ROHAN (Mr.Bassbin, para aquellos de vosotros que no sepáis de él
y ya deberíais) fuímos honrados con no otra que la gran D.J. FLIGHT de BBCradio 1 xtra. Para
mí, personalmente, pinchó el mejor set que he escuchado en Barcelona este verano y rapear
junto a ella y Rohan en una sala pequeña e íntima fué una experiencia a recordar, ¡¡ gracias
Mr. Bassbin !!
La lista de celebridades no acaba aquí...El equipo de Breakstorm ha estado trabajando duro
y ha traído nombres cómo Black Sun Empire, Danny Weeler, D.J Domino y no otro que M.C
Spex de A.D.F, fuerte!!
Essential ha estado a tope junto a DNBCN y algunas incursiones de M.C. Herbzy. Y por si
fuera poco, Dubcelona programó al maestro HYPE para las vacaciones de agosto y, de nuevo,
gracias a mr.Rohan, Xpressing Underground tuvo la visita del todopoderoso EQINOX.
Para mí, personalmente, el premio a D.j. promesa del verano tiene que ser para TAMEN, quién
ha estado a tope ondeando la bandera del equipo Surco, recientemente ha añadido D.j. Sekev
a sus filas, que es sin duda otro nombre revelación a tener en cuenta. Egres se encontró pin-
chando en no otro que el Cafe 1001, entre otros locales de Londres...qué bien!! Lady EmZ ha
estado también haciendo incursiones en Londres este verano.
Tengo que destacar a la familia Xpressing, que ha seguido programando a muchos talentos
revelación de Barcelona, todo mi
respeto para FRANTIC, FERNANDO, TUFFIST, SANO...etc
Para mí, la mejor fiesta del verano tiene que ser la fiesta presentación de la revista REL-
EVANTbcn en Apolo[2]. Fué una prueba total de que juntos el sonido de nuestros colectivos
es 10 veces mayor y deberíamos hacer uso de ello, ya que la escena sólo crecerá a través de
la unidad!!!!

STORMY´S SUMMER D´n´B ROUND UP

Yes yes pull up my selector wheel and come again...let’s take it back to the t-o-p and reflect
back on what’s been going down in the Barcelona d´n´b scene this past summer of 2007.
Well, I can’t say I have the best memory in the world, and I know I was out of town doing a fair
bit of touring. So apologies to any one who doesn’t get a mention who thinks should have...
here goes...
Normally for d´n´b summer is a quiet time of year as the heat rises and many Dj´s and Mc´s are
playing out off town but this year deffenately proved us different...
Firstly there has been no shortage of big names this summer. Thanks to ROHAN’s (Mr. Bas-
sbin), for those of you who don’t know and who should know by now) great contacts and
amicable persona we were graced with the company of none other than the D.J. FLIGHT from
BBC radio 1 Xtra. For me personally, she played the best set I have heard in Barcelona this
summer, and mcing along both her and Rohan in a small personal venue made it a day to
remember, cheers Mr. Bassbin!!
The lists of celebs. Doesn’t stop there...Breakstorm massive have been busy working away and
pulled in names such as Black Sun Empire, Danny Weeler, D.J Domino and none other than
M.C Spex from A.D.F, heavy!!
Essential has been beavering away as ever alongside DNBCN with some visits from the mighty
M.C. Herbzy. And, if that wasn´t enough for you, Dubcelona programed master HYPE over the
August holiday and again, thanks to mr.Rohan, Xpressing Underground had a visit from the
almighty EQINOX.
For me personaly most up and coming D.j. of the summer award has to go to
TAMEN who has been going from strength to strength flying the flag for the
Surco massive, who recently added D.j. Sekev to their ranks and is defenately
another up and coming name to watch. Egres found himself spinning at none
other than Cafe 1001, amongst other venues in London...nice!! The Lady EmZ
has also been making waves in London town this last summer.
Got to send a big shout out to all of the Xpressing Family who have continued
to program many of Barcelona’s up and coming talents, big ups to FRANTIC,
FERNANDO, TUFFIST, SANO...etc
For me, the best party of the summer had to be the RELEVANTbcn magazine
launch party in Apolo[2]. It really proved a point, that together the sound of all
our crews is 10 times stronger and we should use that as the scene will only
grow stronger through unity!!!!

DJ SNPR y DNBCN – The Jump Up Crew
DNBCN fue creado hace dos años por DJ
SNPR, MC Supertee y Ragatek MC. El estilo de
SNPR es jump up con una combinación única
de letra inglés de Supertee y letra española de
Ragatek, el trío tuvo un impacto inmediato en
la escena de Drum N Bass en Barcelona. Desde
entonces la familia ha crecido y opera en Ingla-
terra y España. El equipo ahora incluye MC R-
VEE, DJ Eskaba, MC Herbzie, DJ Merey y MC
Eksman (ganó el premio para el mejor lírico MC
en los premios de Drum N Bass Accelerated en
Inglaterra en 2004). SNPR vive y respira Drum
N Bass de estilo jump up.Nació en Willesden.
En Londres el virus de Drum N Bass le infectó
pronto y empezó a pinchar cuando acabó sus
estudios en el colegio. “Estando en Londres
estaba rodeado por Drum N Bass y una vez
que empecé a salir en las discotecas y pedir
que me dejaran pinchar, encontré que tenía
regularmente huecos donde tocar en los even-
tos de DNB del barrio. A través de ello tuve la
oportunidad de pinchar en Ruud Awakening
104.3 y pinchaba con Supertee, Blacka, Eks-
man, Assassin y Herbzie.”
SNPR vino a Barcelona hace tres años y em-
pezó a pinchar su estilo único en el Raval Bass
en Zentraus y Xpressing Underground Club.
Entonces ¿cuál es la motivación detras de
DNBCN me pregunto? ´´Queremos volver el
nombre una realidad, Drum N Bass Barcelona´´
DNBCN ha estado muy ocupado durante los úl-
timos años. Ha pinchado en la mayoría de los
eventos en Barcelona; Breakstorm, Essential
Drum n Bass, y Vinyl Revelation por nombrar
sólo algunos. Últimamente ha estado en Apolo
y el Cooperage en Newcastle, Inglaterra.´´
Y ¿Para el futuro? ´´Pues estaremos en Essential
Drum N Bass y Breakstorm este mes, así que
manteneros atentos a los flyers. Además ten-
emos planes para unas actuaciones en Francia
y otro viaje a Newcastle.´´ Y ¿que quieres que
pase en Barcelona? ´´Más Drum N Bass para
empezar, eventos más grandes y más diver-

DNBCN was started two years ago by DJ SNPR
along with MC Supertee and Ragatek MC.
SNPR’s style is jump up and with the unique
combination of English lyrics from Supertee
and Spanish lyrics from Ragatek, the DNBCN
trio made an instant impact on the Barcelo-
na Drum N Bass scene. Since then the family
has grown and now operates in England and
Spain. The crew now includes MC R- VEE, DJ
Eskaba, MC Herbzie, DJ Merey and MC Eks-
man (voted best lyrical MC of 2004 at the Ac-
celerated Culture Drum N Bass Awards in En-
gland). SNPR lives and breaths jump up Drum
N Bass. Born in Willesden, London he caught
the Drum N Bass bug early and started djing
just after he left school. “Being in London, I
was surrounded by Drum N Bass and once I
start hitting the clubs asking to play, I found
that I had regular slots in some of the local D N
B events. Through this I got onto Ruud Awake-
ning 104.3FM and was playing with Supertee,
Blacka, Eksman, Assassin and Herbzie.” SNPR
came to Barcelona three years ago and started
spinning his jump up at Raval Bass in Zentraus
and at Xpressing Underground Club. So what’s
the reason behind DNBCN, I ask. “We want to
make the name a reality, Drum N Bass Barcelo-
na.” DNBCN have been busy over the last two
years. They have played at most events in Bar-
celona; Bassline, Breakstorm, Essential Drum
n Bass, and Vinyl Revelation to name a few.
More recently they have been in Apolo Club
and at the Cooperage in Newcastle, England.
So what’s coming up? “Well we will be at Es-
sential Drum N Bass also Breakstorm over this
month so watch of for the flyers. Apart from
we have some plans for gigs in France and also
another trip to Newcastle.” And what do you
want to see happen in Barcelona? “More Drum
and Bass for starters, bigger and better events
and more people getting involved in making it
happen here.” Favourite tune? “Burial by DJ
Leviccus on Philly Blunt Records.”

TXIRONA KAOS! TRABAJANDO PARA MAN-
TENER VIVA LA ESCENA!
Indiscutiblemente el drum’n’bass está
pegando fuerte. En Barcelona ya es la
música de los jueves, ocupa las salas al-
ternativas de las grandes fiestas techno y
en las raves cada vez más sound systems
lo golpean con fuerza. Algo que despertó
ya hace tiempo parece que se endereza.
Mientras en Barna diferentes colectivos
siguen trabajando fiesta tras fiesta, a menos
de cien quilómetros nuevas propuestas to-
man forma y siguen su curso. Hablamos de
Girona dónde desde hace ya algún tiempo
también suena el drum’n’bass.
Bolax, Krusty the Kore, Nahuel, Tutu, Homi,
Arnaux y SerG son algunos de los dj’s i mc’s
que empezaron trabajando juntos para reali-
zar las primeras fiestas en la pequeña capital
catalana. Ahora trabajan paralelamente para
crear la escena.
LA SALA DEL CEL
El colectivo Síndrome de Sound empezó a
programar drum’n’bass en este mítico club
de la península, que se dio a conocer por ser
pionero programando techno y hardtechno a
principios de los 90, una vez más vuelve a
apostar por un estilo que está en auge y re-
surge con fuerza, tomando los sonidos más
oscuros y contundentes de este género como
el techstep, neurophunk y technoid. Raiden
(Offkey Recordings), Benny Page (digital
soundboy) Letal & Propaganda (Offkey re-
cordings) o Vengeanze (Offkey Recordings)
son algunos de los dj’s que los han acom-
pañado hasta ahora. A partir de septiembre
esta programación seguirá con más fuerza y
más colectivos que nunca, el 22 de septiembre
invitados de lujo: NOISIA!!! El segundo viernes
de cada mes La Sala del Cel es drum’n’bass!

SerG de 2ill minds está trabajando duro desde
hace algún tiempo para ofrecer una línea reg-
ular de drum’n’bass y buenas fiestas entre la
nutrida programación del Blau Club. Hasta la
fecha ha acercado a Girona a grandes y clási-
cos del drum’n’bass como Aphrodite (Aphrodite
records) o dj Hype (Playaz), también a nuevos
y prometedores talentos como Spor (lifted). A
menudo existe colaboración con la gente de Dub-
celona en el line up y más recientemente tam-
bién con Rizomatik. A partir de septiembre nue-
va programación, habrá que estar informados.

WORKING TO KEEP THE SCENE ALIVE!
Undoubtedly Drum N Bass is a big hit. In Bar-
celona it’s now THE music of Thursdays, taking
over back rooms in the big Techno and Rave
parties and taking over sound systems. It took
a while but its getting there. While in Barce-
lona various collectives keep on smashing up
rave after rave, less than 100 kilometres away
more big things are going on. We’re talking
about Girona where drum n bass has been
banging the drum since way back when…
Bolax, Krusty the Kore, Nahuel, Tutu, Homi,
Arnaux and SerG are just a few of the artists
that started working together to put on some
of the first parties in the small Catalonian capi-
tal. Now they are working in parallel to create
the scene.
LA SALA DEL CEL
The Síndrome de Sound (the Sound Syndro-
me) began playing drum ‘n’ bass in this le-
gendary peninsular club which has become
famous for its pioneering techno and har-
dcore in he early 90’s, once again bets on a
style that is experiencing a strong resurgen-
ce, taking some of the darkest styles of this

SerG from 2ill minds has been working hard
for a long time to offer a regular line-up of
good drum ‘n’ bass parties at the Blau Club. Up
until now some of the big time players have
passed through, including; Aphrodite (Aphro-

and-coming talents such as Spor (Lifted). The-
re are often hook ups between the players at

 Where are you from?
Planet Zonk
And how is that working out for you?
It depends on the weather- usually stormy
though.
How long have you been MCing?
Nine years. I started MCing in England as a bit
of fun, it then turned serious when I arrived in
Barcelona seven years ago.
How did it all start for you?
I started working with Electric Ladies with Pilar
and Baby G. There were no MCs at the event,
so I ask if they had a mic. Later I became resi-
dent and it all stemmed from there.
What influences your MCing style?
Life influences me and the need to spread po-

forms and not to be stuck on one style. As far
as my personal ambitions are concerned, con-
centrating more on working with live music.
I’ve just completed two very good years with
the band ‘BarXino’ which taught me a lot more
about Latin root music. I am currently still ac-
tive with the collective 08001. This is a huge
multi- cultural music project and I intend to
learn as much as I can about the many diffe-
rent styles of music infused in the project, whi-
le at the same time developing my talent as a
live MC. At present I have just started my own
live Hip Hop band and our main ambition is
to spread love, truth and right, to help people
awake from this slumber that we call modern

Depende del clima. Normalmente hay muchas
tormentas.
¿Cúanto hace que rapeas?
Nueve años. Empecé a rapear en Inglaterra
para divertirme un poco y luego me lo tomé
en serio cuando llegué a Barcelona hace siete
años.
¿Cómo empezaste?
Empecé a currar con Electric Ladies con Pilar
y Baby G. No había MCs en los eventos y les
pregunté si tenían micrófono. Luego me hice
residente y todo provino de allí.
¿Qué influencia tu estilo?
La vida me influencia y la necesidad de repartir
positividad en un mundo negativo, esa es la
base para mis letras.
¿Qué opinas de la escena de la música Urbana
aquí en Barcelona?
Aquí todo está muy dividido. Hay demasiados
capitanes y pocos marineros. He trabajado
con muchos de los colectivos en Barcelona y
todos quieren llevar la música en direcciones
distintas. Resulta que me he quedado solo y
estoy abierto a todas las formas de música. Úl-
timamente los mejores artistas se han estado
juntando naturalmente, abriendo más puertas
a través del poder de la unidad. Así que el fu-
turo de la música urbana en Barcelona parece
mucho más brillante.
¿Qué quieres que pase en Barcelona?
Barcelona tiene una gran variedad de Música
Urbana con un montón de artistas dotados.
Pero a la ciudad le falta la infastructura para
impulsar a estos artistas. Necesitamos más
inversión y apoyo del ayuntamiento de Bar-
celona, más que los cambios en las leyes regu-
ladoras, que han retrasado los logros de los
últimos cinco años.
¿Cuáles son tus ambiciones para el futuro?
Mi ambición principal en la escena de Barce-
lona es seguir ocupándome de fiestas que of-
rezcan todo el espectro de música Drum and
Bass. Mi colectivo Nube 9 ha llevado esta mis-
ión desde el 2003. Al final lo que importa es
la música, representada en todas sus formas y
no pegarse a un estilo. En cuanto a mis propias
ambiciones, me gustaría concentrarme más
en currar con música en directo. Acabo de ter-
minar dos años impresionantes con el grupo
´BarXino´ que me han enseñado un montón
sobre la música de raíz Latina. Todavía estoy
con el colectivo 08001. Es un proyecto enorme
multi-cultural e intento aprender todo lo que
pueda sobre los estilos diferentes involucrados
en el proyecto, mientras desarrollo mi talento
como MC. Actualmente acabo de empezar mi
propio grupo de hip hop en directo y nuestro
objetivo es repartir amor, verdad y justicia, ay-

 Parece que fue ayer y ha pasado más de un año. Recuerdo como si fuera ahora mismo el primer
día que pisé este local, me acompañaba Oscar, que a día de hoy, es uno de mis socios, al que
cariñosamente llamo “mi socio pequeño”...El local se llamaba HOT, y durante bastante tiempo
había sido uno de los afters mas emblemáticos de Barcelona. Quien ha ido alguna vez de “alter”,
sabe como son estos locales, que os quiero decir con esto, que la primera vez que pise la que
hoy es mi sala, no me gustó nada de nada, pero bueno, venía con la intención de promocionar
unas fiestas y cuando me ofrecieron todas las sesiones de la semana, aposté por ello y la sala
era lo que menos importaba. Lógicamente, el fracaso llegó mas rápido de lo esperado, pero mi
sorpresa fue mi actitud, en vez de hundirme, me crecí más, supongo que porque tampoco quería
perder ni el local que por entonces ya me encantaba, ni la oportunidad de trabajar con dos de las
personas que ahora considero mas importantes de mi vida, Jaume, mi otro socio actualmente y
Toni, que no solo era jefe de sala, de SALA INSTINTO. Con todo esto y con mucha ilusión, decidí
tirarme a la piscina y comprar la sala. Desde luego os puedo decir que es una de las mejores de-
cisiones de mi vida, con la que no solo he ganado tener una discoteca en el centro de la ciudad,
sino unos socios increíbles y un grupo profesional y humano inmejorable, el cual os abre a todos
vosotros la puerta de mi negocio y al que podéis considerar vuestra casa, cinco días a la semana,
y siempre con ilusión, dedicación y con la idea de ser mejores diariamente para que vosotros
podáis disfrutar de la noche de Barcelona con la mejor sala posible, tanto en imagen, como en
sonido y servicios. Tenemos la intención de mejorar aún más, y todo ello para que vosotros, que
sois la parte más importante de nuestro local, os sintáis a gusto, cómodos y así podáis disfrutar
del mejor ambiente, la mejor música y el mejor servicio.
No obstante, esta labor no la realizamos solos, contamos con unos grupos promotores, de difer-
entes estilos, que diariamente os ofrecen una de las mejores ofertas de Barcelona y siempre con
la ventaja de la variedad. Algunos grupos promotores ya no se encuentran entre nosotros, pero
SALA INSTINTO quiere aprovechar, con estas líneas, la ocasión tanto para felicitarles*; como son
el grupo promotor BASSLINE, que viernes tras viernes os trae el mejor Reggae y Drum N Bass de
la ciudad, o el grupo JAMSONIK, que cada lunes os ofrece la mejor sesión y el mejor ambiente de
la ciudad, donde se dan cita los chicos y chicas más guapas del panorama turístico de Barcelona.
Recuerda que aunque no los menciono, de jueves a lunes, SALA INSTINTO, os ofrece una ses-
ión diferente y variada, capitaneada por los mejores grupos promotores del momento y donde
disfrutaréis de la mejor música, ambiente y fiesta que os podáis imaginar. Os esperamos en
nuestra sala, y para que no os sintáis extraños si es la primera vez que vengáis y también porque
se merecen la mención en este artículo, porque son los mejores profesionales de la noche de
Barcelona, os los enumero: Pedro y Marico en la seguridad. Natalia en la taquilla. Sra. Carmen en
el guardarropa, Javi, Txiqui, Erika, Alicia e Ines, detrás de las barras. Sergi y Victor en el Staff y
Toni como jefe de sala. Tanto ellos como Oscar, Jaume o yo mismo, Marcos, os esperamos y os
ofrecemos nuestro local para que os sintáis como si fuera el vuestro.

It seemed like it was yesterday but more than a year had passed. It could have been right now,
the first time I ever set foot in this place. I was accompanied by a friend of mine, Oscar, who to
this day is still one of my business partners, the one I affectionately call ‘my little man...’. The
place was called HOT, and for a long time it was one of the most famous after-hours in Barcelona.
Anyone who has been to an afters knows what these places are like, the first time I stepped into
the place where I now hold my events I had no love for it at all, but I had come to promote my
night and when they offered me the chance to host one of the rooms I jumped at it, the state of
the room was the least of my worries. Logically the failure came quicker than expected, but what
surprised me was my own attitude, instead of sinking I decided to swim, and as a result learnt
a lot. I didn’t want to lose the room so I put in the work and ended up having the opportunity to
work with 2 people who became very important in my life, Jaume, my other current partner, and
Toni the owner of SALA INSTINTO. So excited I threw caution to the wind and bought the place,
and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I had a superb club
in the centre of town, with some incredible people around me, professional and genuinely good
people who enabled me to open to doors to the club, a club which you can consider your home,
five days a week with some of the best sound, visuals and service in Barcelona.
We want to achieve more, we want to improve even more, to bring you even better quality and
service so that you have a better time and feel even more comfortable in the spot. However we
don’t do all this work by ourselves we count on a great team of promoters, all promoting diffe-
rent styles who offer daily parties with some of the hottest musical line-ups you’ll find.
We want to take this opportunity to thank some of the promoters who we work with such as
BASSLINE who Friday after Friday bring you the baddest sounds in Reggae and Drum N Bass
in the city, JAMSONK who, every Monday, give the best vibes the best musical session with
the best looking guys and girls, both homegrown and the tourist talent. Remember that from
Thursday through Monday SALA INSTINTO offers a varied and stylised musical menu from the
hottest promoters in town where you can enjoy the hottest parties in town. So that you feel at
home from the first time you visit us, and because we want to thank them for all their hard work,
and being the most professional crew in Barcelona: big shouts to Pedro and Marico on security,
Natalia in the ticket office, Carmen in the cloakroom, Javi, Txiqui, Erika, Alicia and Ines behind
the bar, Sergi and Victor behind the scenes and Toni the owner. We hope and offer you our club
as if it were your home.
