He is a mature, successful nomad. For several years he has worked as a PhD surgeon all over the world.
Domicile; London, UK.
He is in great demand. “The everyday lives of other people sometimes depend on my presence. When colleagues feel they
require my assistance I have to be where they need me,” he says. “Only the difficult cases, sadly. ” So he lives and works in
the places he is summoned to. Three days London. Two days Paris. Two days somewhere. Regular work periods for doctors
without borders.
Place of stay in Paris: in a five star hotel.
Place of stay during the two days somewhere: with friends.
Place of stay when working for Doctors Without Borders: a tent.
Place of stay in London: The privacy of his own home. In an exclusive location. A flat roof. Above the eighth storey. A specta-
cular view. The perfect location for the first LoftCube in the history of the LoftCube.

As an urban architect, when considering his new office he fell in love with the LoftCube. He scanned all the fabprefab new
developments. In the beginning it was hard for him to wait and he called every year.
“Landing at the pier is the perfect start to the day for me,” he said. Every morning, he jumps on his Riva to ride to work.
His new office is a bright spot on the other side of the lake and always welcomes him. From a great distance he can see the
site linked to the island by a wooden pier. The water flows beneath the cube, washing around the supports and giving the
LoftCube the appearance of hovering above the lake.

exceptionel project. People like us need an inspiring
space. These futuristic cubes placed between ruins,
that’s a perfect inspiration.
What can a musicians’ Foundation do with an old, enchanted park, in which the ruin of a small, picturesque castle in the
middle of France, forms a beautiful setting – for example as a film backdrop for romantic love scenes. What can they do
when the goal of the funding is not to invest millions of Euros in the renovation of a castle, but rather to promote young
musicians.
The manager of the Foundation left the ruin in the original state, just as it was when it was passed on, and placed five
LoftCubes on the site – two sets of 39 sqm LoftCubes that are connected to each other and one LoftCube sized 55 sqm,
which forms a solitaire. The two connected Cubes each form a living unit, including a music room. The central 55 sqm
Cube has been equipped with a studio – the ideal ensemble for private study and joint production.
The cost of this ensemble is negligible in comparison to the amount of money that would have been required to renovate
the castle. Due to the Cubes, the original splendour of the park can be completely preserved and yet it is able to serve the
truly worthy cause of the Foundation.

F one fifty and enjoy our time together.
It’s like living in a huge tent in nature,
you know …o.k., o.k. ...more comfortable.
She set off for the United States of America at the age of 18. New York. The greatest possible contrast to the small town
in which she grew up. Then she was drawn to California. She is a booker at a model agency. Beach, sea, sun, surfing and
partying with friends – that’s what she had always longed to do. Every weekend, and, work permitting, right in the middle of
the week too.
Six months ago she bought a piece of land with friends, right on the beach, with a direct view of the sea. After an intense,
successful week, she leaves the city and heads for the coast, in the direction of the beach, where her friends and a
LoftCube in the dunes are already waiting for her. Two days of being one with the waves, gazing at the horizon, cooking at
the campfire, daydreaming, sleeping, breakfast on the veranda, beginning the day slowly, back into the waves, grilling the
freshly caught fish in the evening, and partying, late into the night. Then she sets off towards the northeast, destination city,
five days managing models – drawing on the energy from the beach, from the waves, from the LoftCube.

like and how you wish things could be.
That is over!
As a celebrity in the film business she spends four to five months a year shooting in the most diverse places imaginable,
around the world. The obligatory luxury trailer on set and the luxury hotel on location soon lost their appeal – if they ever
had any appeal at all. She once said about the luxury suites: “seen one, seen them all.” She immediately recognized her
one-and-only chance to fulfil her desire for a more personal atmosphere while staying with friends during the holidays
in a LoftCube that they used as a guesthouse. She was delighted by the idea of always being able to take her own perso-
nal space with her, regardless of where her profession required her to be. She bought two LoftCubes and had them fitted
identically.
That was the end of her life in large trailers and luxury suites. Now she lives in one Cube while the other is already being
assembled in the place she will travel to next. This functions perfectly because everything is identical – right down to the
contents of the fridge.
As soon as she opens the door, she is home – regardless of where today is and where tomorrow will be.

Embedded and integrated into the mountains, an endless view over the Atlantic Ocean and the sound of wind and waves.
Sunrise in Cape Town. C.L. walks through his LoftCube composition just as he has done every morning for the last couple
of months. “It is a long way – outside”, he says “and it is really unique and different to a typical designer hotel.” Each room
is represented by a futuristic LoftCube of a different size, some solitary, some combined to provide suites, including grand
suites made up of three Lofts.
“We positioned them independently of one another so each client has the impression of being on his or her own in the
mountains. We provide all necessary services directly to the Loft – there is no central building. Our clients really appreciate
this new type of hosting”.

No planning permission. The officers at the Forest Authority wouldn’t budge on this one. The nature reserve is sacrosanct.
No exceptions. Not even for him. The forests have belonged to his family for generations, but times have changed over the
last 200 years. Even in Canada. Nowadays the owners no longer make the decisions. Except for the exceptions.
It is his great fortune that the large lake is also part of his family’s traditional property – including the fishing and boating
rights. With the exception of motorboats. However, the authorities have no grounds for forbidding non-motorized water-
crafts. So a pontoon serves as a floating foundation for a LoftCube in the middle of his ancestors’ wilderness.
In the evening, the days spent hunting and fishing draw to a comfortable close in the Cube. When the wind blows in the
right direction, he lets the pontoon drift and wakes up in the middle of nowhere. Other than him there is usually not a soul
to be seen far and wide – except for the Forest Authority’s helicopter that can occasionally be heard patrolling.

our hideaway took twelve weeks – and now the
funny thing – it took the same amount of time for our
new furniture to arrive.
“The island is so wonderful that our circle of friends just keeps on growing.” Smiling benignly, Robert R. talks about his
private oasis, without revealing the exact location. “We never invite anyone round. They just turn up.” They are very wel-
come of course. They really are friends, he assures me. “That’s the way it has always been – and that’s the way it still is
today. When it got a bit too much with the visitors – and rather cramped in the house – we began looking for a guesthouse.
My wife fell in love with the LoftCube straight away.” He smiles benignly again and adds: “We immediately had a lot of ideas
for furnishing the LoftCube.” They took a long time to decide where to position it. Facing the sea? Hidden in the under-
growth? Close to the house or further away? The hideout in the undergrowth won.
The LoftCube was delivered by ship, and assembled in three days. Then they gave us the key and wished us a pleasant time.
“After testing it for a while we gave the guests the run of the big house instead – and that’s how it still is today.”

Whether it is secure place of retreat, such as the caves of the first human beings, migrant locations such as
the tent camps of the nomads, flexible structures such as the US “Drop City” and the Dutch student honey-
combs, or global buildings such as the glass high rise towers in the megacities...
…all of them have one thing in common, the search for the ideal ‘third skin’ – as building structures are also
described in an architectural context – a place in which one can work, relax, and enjoy life with friends.
In 2003 Werner Aisslinger came up with the idea of the LoftCube, taking into consideration that the lifestyle
of modern nomads will be more and more affected by individuality, mobility and the renaissance of fine art.

A unique and inventive home – a cocoon on the inside merging with the natural
surroundings.
The LoftCube attracts special attention with its individual flair, wherever it lands.
Werner Aisslinger loves to talk about the puristic style of the LoftCube. The LoftCube
is characterized by the ceiling-high, large panes of glass that allow sunlight to flood
into the LoftCube from a 360º angle and provide spectacular views.
Those who want to take a different route must see the world from a new perspective.
The well-conceived LoftCube concept combines the highest level of functionality and
comfort with an excellent spatial scope and a stylish ambience.
The LoftCube gives one the sense of living amidst nature while and the same time
providing a feeling of warmth and security.
The innovative one-room concept does without non-utilizable auxiliary areas and
creates fluid transitions from living space to living space, and an almost traceless
transition between the interior and exterior.
Step back from the world and still remain close to nature.

Werner Aisslinger’s signature is the combination of organic forms with reduced radiuses and precise, fine
lines that produce lean structures. He pays particular attention to the use of new technologies and an
exciting mix of materials.
Polar white, fibreglass structures with a high gloss finish create the futuristic shape of the LoftCube. The
fibreglass used in yacht construction that has been tried and tested for many years ideally combines high
quality surfaces, stability, elasticity and longevity. By means of a unique façade development, the designers
have succeeded in using elegant, almost inconspicuous wood profiles with an aesthetically pleasing, warm
radiance, which creates a framework for large, light-flooded glass elements.
Each of the four facades gives the LoftCube an individual touch in terms of aesthetics and functionality.
Transparent, translucent and coloured glass elements as well as closed panels and different shading
elements create the desired translucency and circulation of air.
The exclusive material CORIAN, which on the one hand is as robust as stone and on the other hand has the
beautiful, organic shape of wood, has been used for the finish of all the utilizable surfaces in the bathroom
and kitchen and blends in perfectly with the polar-white shape of the LoftCube.

Take your home with you, a year in a New York building at the top of a high rise, two years in Dubai developing
new islands in the sea, then on to China for three years to realize the new airport and still everything is in the
same place and you feel at home where ever you are. The only things that have changed during the last six
years are the exceptional views from your home.
Due to its newly-developed, modular system, the LoftCube can be quickly installed and dismantled. All the
modules have been optimized to such an extent that they can be transported using standard methods such as
trucks and containers to locations that are not easily accessible.
After only 5-7 days installation the LoftCube welcomes you to your new home. If you wish to move the LoftCube
can be dismantled within 1-2 days and be sent off on its way to a new homeland.
If you would like to enlarge your home, simply add one or more LoftCubes via differently sized gangways,
depending on if you would like to separate the different living areas using a gangway or if you would like to inte-
grate the living areas using an expanded connecting passage. Make use of the full autonomy of the LoftCube.
The LoftCube will accompany you wherever you go. Your home in a backpack.

Landscape Landscaped interiors are designed by linking LoftCubes with the help of gangways.
In this concept, each individual LoftCube takes on the function of an autonomous room.
The transformation from room to room that is so important for creatives is made possible by means of different
gangways, which produce beautiful, individual arrangements in the landscaped interior.
B Narrow gangways support the concept of autonomous, separate rooms while wide gangways create a fluid, spaci-
ous transition between the rooms.

An ideal supplement is provided by our gangways for sloping sites. They allow for independent arrangements of
steps within the landscape. The LoftCube supports and the gangways take into account a minimum sealing of

body body | steelframe structure | wooden façade | roof + bottom membrane | high gloss fibreglass
The specially developed supporting and non-visible steel construction made of hot-
dip galvanized steel creates the framework for the floors and ceilings. This frame-
work is joined directly to the application points via hot-dip galvanized steel supports.
The wood façade that was also created especially for the LoftCube gives it an elegant
and precious appearance while the selected colour of the wood creates the desired
warmth.
The membrane used for the roof and floor is a polar-white Ferrari 8000 membrane of
the kind used for stadium roofs, airports and Formula 1 racetrack covering. It is tech-
nically and optically the best membrane available on the market for roofing purposes.
The appearance typical of the LoftCube is achieved with the high-gloss fibreglass
forms used in yacht construction. These allow for beautiful organic shapes that at the
same time have a high degree of longevity. These forms are not supporting elements
and this has several advantages. In this way, new colours and forms can be fitted
within the space of a day, without having to disassemble the entire structure.
The LoftCube supports are enclosed by fibreglass-gaiter clamps. The complete ener-
gy supply for the LoftCube is concealed behind these.

façade façades | strong wood | raico façades system | heat + protection glass | louvre | sliding door
This façade, developed specially for the LoftCube, allows for a very flexible approach to the design, so that every
available façade element and glass element, whether transparent, matt, or coloured, with blinds or heating, closed
or open, or any other desired construction, can be installed.
The four supporting, visible wood façades have been constructed using a RAICO-façade system and give the
LoftCube its elegant appearance.
The façades form the outer walls, which have been equipped with frameless low-e double glazing. The windows
are installed flush with the floor and ceiling, providing a fantastic view and a light-flooded interior with an all-round
360° view. The high-quality glass is constructed from the exterior to the interior using 8mm toughened safety
glass, 27 mm space between the panes, low-e foil, 2 * 5 mm LSG with 0,75 mm foil (1,1 k-value and 36 db).
Should higher heat insulation levels be required, we recommend the use of blinds in the space between the panes
or the use of triple glazing.
The laminated glass protects the LoftCube from uninvited guests.
Louvres can be used as sun-shading devices and as individual design elements. On the one hand these are ple-
asant eye-catchers that create a warm atmosphere when the sun shines through them, and on the other hand they
are very practical as they provide a wonderful protection from the sun.
They are therefore mainly installed in the south and the west, or if an additional screen or a special “sunray” effect
is desired.
One variation of shading is the use of aluminium blinds in the space between the window panes. This is an elegant
solution, not only in terms of sun-shading. In addition, the blinds protect the LoftCube by night from all too penet-
rating gazes and makes cleaning completely unnecessary.
The entrance door is a wooden sliding door that is integrated into the façade. The sliding system allows for easy
handling while at the same time the lock system guarantees the required degree of security.

also happy to install floors for special requirements.
Our ceilings make a strong impression with their high quality surfaces without joints. We use lacquer stretch
ceilings for the ceiling finish, by the Swiss manufacturer Ciling who guarantee the best appearance with a special
mixture of very homogenous ceilings. In addition, these ceilings are environment-friendly as they have been made
of a high-performance membrane, manufactured using the latest technology and free of lead, cadmium, mercury,
PCP, PCB and silicon.
In an open blue system such as the LoftCube, all methods for heating and cooling available on the market can be
used. Whether they are environment-friendly solar solutions or an air heat exchanger, or air conditioning systems
with integrated ceiling heating, floor heating or glass heating, we are happy to help you make a selection.

The LoftCube can be accessed via a 1250 mm wide stairway, which was developed
especially for the LoftCube and is connected to its underside. This gives it a special
lightness and allows it to be integrated perfectly into the overall design of LoftCube.
The stairway that welcomes the LoftCube owner and visitors is based on a steel
construction with wooden steps and a platform in front of the door. A stainless steel
railing, which also has a very minimal design in order not to conceal the view of the
LoftCube, rounds off the elegant appearance of the stairs.
A double-width stairway is available as an individual fitting, which can at the same
time be used as a stepped terrace on which one can enjoy reading a fascinating book

Operate the intelligent LoftCube with ease. The LoftCube welcomes its occupant with a sophisticated home
management system. From light scenarios and air conditioning to home entertainment. Loving attention to detail
and beautiful surfaces characterize the LoftCube control elements and switches.
The smart house concept is based on the fact that all products are capable of ‘speaking’ to one other. With a single
touch control panel a wide range of options is distributed to any place in the LoftCube. This is the basis for the
integrated home management system.
The power supply cables are fed invisibly along the façade and into the floor and ceiling. The complete control
system for the LoftCube is concealed in the electrical cabinet. This cabinet with its high quality finish is integrated
flush with the façade of the LoftCube and has been designed as a special piece of furniture.
If desired, the complete building services with EIB-Bus technology can be concealed behind the white painted
doors with Touchlogic. This cupboard is constructed in such a way that an extension at a later date, for example in
the form of the attachment of further LoftCubes or the conversion to EIB-technology can be realised without any
difficulty.
The exact configuration with switches, touchscreen, telephone, antenna, internet etc. will be defined during the
phase when the offer is made and will be noted in the floor plan together with additional installations for security
technology or individual requests, if desired.
We install systems by Berker in the LoftCube. The facility is doubly secured according to European standards and
complies with the current norms and technical connection conditions of 220 V or 110 V according to the country.

The LoftCube is manufactured for the most part by hand in the LoftCube factory. The
materials used for the LoftCube are primarily natural products that express their
individuality through divergences in form, colour, structure, dimensions and surfaces.
Each individual LoftCube is a unicum. It will be individually manufactured for you and
adapted to its surroundings through the configuration of the façades and fittings.
Information on the statics and hurricane safety measures as well as the heating and
cooling calculations are available within the context of the application for planning

8000 EURnet.
There may be additive costs if the transport has to cross a border. Sea freight can also be calculated on request.
The installation lasts 4-7 days according to the individual configuration and installation location. A move into a
turnkey LoftCube landscape made up of three connected LoftCubes is possible in 14 days.
As a rule of thumb, for an installation on solid ground one can calculate a sum of 20 000 to 40 000 EURnet.
A rooftop installation can be calculated between 40 000 and 80 000 EURnet. The price range is based on the exis-
ting roof structure and the required supply lines for the power connections as well as selected options such as a
roof garden. Planning permission can be granted on the grounds of three different aspects.
The LoftCube as a normal house and a standard application for planning permission. As a temporary house with
a shorter planning application process, and as a weekend house also with a shorter planning application process.
Which of these varieties is finally chosen in depends on the local building commission.
In order to be able to use the temporary and weekend variety, the LoftCube has been designed as a mobile buil-
ding, which only takes up a small area temporarily and can be moved again within 1-2 days.

This kitchen is set up for entertaining, with the white monobloc forming the centre
for cooking, eating and chatting. Based on bulthaup b3 as the aesthetic and func-
tional foundation.
The glacier-white CORIAN work surface forms a counter, creating a raised level
between the kitchen and living area. Featured with a small wine bar facing the
living room it is the communicative link but also a visual barrier between the living
space and cooking area – in case this is sometimes a little untidy.
The Touch System represents pure unadulterated minimalism. The highly precise
mechanism allows the doors and pull-out elements to be open simply by tapping
them lightly.
In the case of the cupboard doors, an extremely flat hinge is used for the first time.
It is characterised by a 105 degree aperture angle and a sound-cushioned impact.
Cooking and creating nice food with the high-end units from Miele.

The special partitioning panel made of glacier white CORIAN features an eye catching
water tap, movable to both sides, and used both in the kitchen and the bathroom.
