A Moleben For The Salvation Of Our Nation

And For Peace In The World

1
A MOLEBEN FOR THE SALVATION OF OUR NATION
AND FOR PEACE IN THE WORLD
For private use,

Priest Blessed is our God, now and ever and forever.

All Amen. Glory be to You, our God, glory be to You.

O Heavenly King and Comforter, Spirit of truth: You are everywhere

present and fill all things. Treasury of blessings and Giver of life: come
and dwell within us, cleanse us of all stain and save our souls, O
gracious Lord.

Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Immortal, have mercy on us. (3
X)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and
ever and forever. Amen.

O Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; O Lord, cleanse us of our sins;
O Master, forgive us our transgressions; O Holy One, come to us and
heal our infirmities for your name's sake.

Lord, have mercy. (Three times.)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom
come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who
trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us
from evil.

Priest For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, Father, Son
and Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever.

All Amen. Lord, have mercy. (Twelve times.)

+ Come, let us adore our King and God.
+ Come, let us adore Christ, our King and our God.
+ Come, let us adore and bow down to our Lord Jesus Christ, our King
and our God.

PSALM 45

God is for us a refuge and strength,

a helper close at hand, in time of distress,
so we shall not fear though the earth should rock,
2
though the mountains fall into the depths of the sea;
even though its waters rage and foam,
even though the mountains be shaken by its waves.
The Lord of hosts is with us:
the God of Jacob is our stronghold.
The waters of a river give joy to God's city,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within, it cannot be shaken;
God will help it at the dawning of the day.
Nations are in tumult, kingdoms are shaken:
he lifts his voice, the earth shrinks away.
The Lord of hosts is with us:
the God of Jacob is our stronghold.
Come, consider the works of the Lord,
the redoubtable deeds he has done on the earth.
He puts an end to wars over all the earth;
the bow he breaks, the spear he snaps.
He burns the shields with fire.
"Be still and know that I am God,
supreme among the nations, supreme on the earth!"
The Lord of hosts is with us:
the God of Jacob is our stronghold.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
now and ever and forever. Amen.

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Glory be to You, O God. (Three times.)

Then we sing "God the Lord" in the 6th Tone:

Deacon God the Lord has revealed Himself to us, blessed is He Who comes in
the name of the Lord.
The people then sing this refrain:
All God the Lord has revealed Himself to us, blessed is He Who comes in the
name of the Lord.
while the Deacon reads the verses:
Deacon Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for his love endures forever.
(R.)
They encircled me, compassed me about; In the Lord's name I
crushed them. (R.)
I shall not die, I shall live and recount the deeds of the Lord. (R.)
The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
This is the work of the Lord, a marvel in our eyes. (R.)

3
Tropar of Repentance in Tone 6
All Have mercy on us, O Lord,* have mercy on us, * since we have no defence,
* we sinners offer this supplication to You, our Master; * have mercy
on us.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Lord, have mercy on us, * for in You we place our hope. * Be not
exceedingly angry with us, * nor mindful of our transgressions; * but
even now look upon us with mercy, * and deliver us from our foes. *
For You are our God * and we are your people; * we all are the work of
your hands, * and we call upon your name.
Now and ever and forever. Amen.
Open to us the doors of mercy, * O blessed Mother of God, * that we
who place our trust in you may not perish, * but that through you we
be delivered from misfortune; * for you are the salvation of all
Christians.
If desired, Psalm 5O may now be read.
Have mercy on me, God, in your goodness;
in your abundant compassion blot out my offense.
Wash away all my guilt;
from my sin cleanse me.
For I know my offense;
my sin is always before me.
Against you alone have I sinned;
I have done such evil in your sight
That you are just in your sentence,
blameless when you condemn.
True, I was born guilty,
a sinner, even as my mother conceived me.
Still, you insist on sincerity of heart;
in my inmost being teach me wisdom.
Cleanse me with hyssop, that I may be pure;
wash me, make me whiter than snow.
0 Let me hear sounds of joy and gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Turn away your face from my sins;
blot out all my guilt.
A clean heart create for me, God;
renew in me a steadfast spirit.
Do not drive me from your presence,
nor take from me your holy spirit.
Restore my joy in your salvation;
sustain in me a willing spirit.
4
I will teach the wicked your ways,
that sinners may return to you.
Rescue me from death, God, my saving God,
that my tongue may praise your healing power.
Lord, open my lips;
my mouth will proclaim your praise.
For you do not desire sacrifice;
a burnt offering you would not accept.
My sacrifice, God, is a broken spirit;
God, do not spurn a broken, humbled heart.
Make Zion prosper in your good pleasure;
rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
Then you will be pleased with proper sacrifice,
burnt offerings and holocausts;
then young bulls will be offered on your altar.
After this the Litany:
Deacon Have mercy on us, O God, according to your great mercy; we pray
You, hear and have mercy.
All Lord, have mercy (Three times, and so for each petition.)
Deacon We also pray for His Holiness, N., Pope of Rome, Our Patriatch
Beatitude N., for our Most Reverend Metropolitan N., for our God-
loving Bishop, N., for those who serve and have served in this holy
church, for our spiritual fathers, and for all our brothers and sisters in
Christ.
We also pray for our nation under God, civil authorities, our President,
the congress and all our elected officials and civil authorities, may the
Holy Spirit guide them at this time to act according to Your Will. For
all the armed forces and the military who vigilantly protect and
defend us, with your divine presence enable them to combat evil but
not let them to succumb to evil themselves. And for all in the service
of our country, grant to all of them, O Lord, a peaceful governance, so
that in their tranquility we may be able to lead calm and peaceful
lives in all piety and dignity, hear us and have mercy.
We also pray for peace, here in this country and throughout the whole
world, in Afghanistan, in Israel, in Palestine, Africa, Asia, Europe, the
Americas and in our homeland Ukraine, so that in your peace, that is
from above and only comes down from you, hear us and have mercy.
We also pray that You give the strength and grace to be instruments
of Your peace, with the courage to forgive and the grace to defend
the truth and the defenseless, hear us and have mercy.
Grant us peace in our hearts, that in this time of frustration and anger
5
we do not act in haste and are able to see Your will in our lives. Help
us understand how we are to truly forgive as you commanded us,
hear and have mercy.
We have deserved the chastisement of your righteous judgment,
which has overwhelmed us, O Lord. But spare your people who have
sinned and do not cast us away forever! We fall down before You in
repentance and humbly pray You, hear and have mercy.
We know that we have provoked you love for all, O all-good Master,
and that we have angered your goodness. But now turn away from us
your wrath, which rises justly against us. Drive away the present strife
and discord, put an end to the shedding of blood, make cease all civil
disorder and hatred, all prejudice and irrational acts of vengeance, in
repentance we pray You, hear and have mercy.
We also pray for the repose of the souls of the servants of God NN.,
who have fallen asleep, and for the forgiveness of their sins and
offences, voluntary and involuntary. That the Lord God may place
their souls where all the just and holy repose.
Compassed about on all sides by tears and afflictions, with sorrow and
in repentance we cry out to You, O Lord our God, that our life be
brought up from corruption, that we not be destroyed forever, and
that all our enemies be scattered. For we flee to You and we on your
help alone: Hear your people who are afflicted and in need, O Lord,
and out of the abundance of your love have mercy.
Priest For You are a merciful and gracious God, and we render glory to You,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever.
All Amen.
Prokimen
Deacon Let us be attentive.
Priest Peace be with all of you.
Deacon Wisdom! Let us be attentive!
The Reader announces the Prokimen, Tone 4:
They cried to the Lord in their need * and he rescued them from their distress.
Verse: He led them forth from darkness and gloom and broke their chains to
pieces.
Gospel
Deacon Let us pray to the Lord.
6
All Lord, have mercy.
Priest For You are holy, O our God, and You dwell in the holies; and we give
glory to You: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever.
All Amen.
Deacon Let all that has breath praise the Lord.
All Let all that has breath praise the Lord.
Deacon Praise God in his holy place, praise Him in his mighty heavens.
All Let all that has breath praise the Lord.
Priest That we may be deemed worthy of hearing the holy Gospel, in peace
let us pray to the Lord.
All Lord, have mercy. (Three times.)
Deacon Wisdom! Let us stand and listen to the holy Gospel.
Priest Peace be with you all.
All And with your spirit.
Priest A reading from the holy Gospel according to the holy apostle and
evangelist Matthew.
All Glory be to You, O Lord, glory be to You!
The Priest reads the Gospel: Matthew 5:1-17, 19-2438-48. The NAB translation is
given here:
At that time when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he
had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be
satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is
the kingdom of heaven.
7
Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of
evil against you because of me.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they
persecuted the prophets who were before you.
"You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be
seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled
underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be
hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set
on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must
shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your
heavenly Father. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the
prophets. I have come not to abolish it but to fulfill it. Therefore, whoever breaks
one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be
called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these
commandments will be called greatest in the kingdom of heaven. I tell you,
unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will
not enter into the kingdom of heaven. "You have heard that it was said to your
ancestors, 'You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment.' But I
say to you, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment, and
whoever says to his brother an unkind word, will be answerable to the Sanhedrin,
and whoever says, 'You fool,' will be liable to fiery Gehenna. Therefore, if you
bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything
against you, leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with
your brother, and then come and offer your gift. "You have heard that it was
said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I say to you, offer no
resistance to one who is evil. When someone strikes you on (your) right cheek,
turn the other one to him as well. If anyone wants to go to law with you over
your tunic, hand him your cloak as well. Should anyone press you into service for
one mile, go with him for two miles. Give to the one who asks of you, and do not
turn your back on one who wants to borrow. "You have heard that it was said,
'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your
enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of
your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and
causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. For if you love those who love you,
what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? And if
you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do
the same? So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.

All Glory be to You, O Lord, glory be to You!

Litany
Deacon Have mercy on us, O God, according to your great mercy; we pray
You, hear and have mercy.
8
All Lord, have mercy (Three times, and so for each petition.)
Deacon We also pray for His Holiness, N., Pope of Rome, for His beatitude our
Patriarch N., for our Most Reverend Metropolitan N., for our God-
loving Bishop N., for those who serve and have served in this holy
church, for our spiritual fathers, and for all our brothers and sisters in
Christ.
We also pray for our civil authorities, for all the armed forces and all
in the service of our country.
We also pray that He will protect this city and every city and country
place and the faithful dwelling in them.
Then the Priest exclaims:
Priest Hear us, O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of
those far out at sea; have mercy, have mercy, O Master, on our sins,
and be merciful to us; for You are a merciful God, and the Lover of
Mankind, and to You do we send up glory: to the Father, and to the
Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever.
All Amen.
Deacon Let us be attentive! With hearts that are humble and bending down
the knees of our souls and bodies, let us pray to the Lord.
All Lord, have mercy. (Three times.)
Priest O Lord, our Savior: Our hearts are broken and so we fall down before
You. We confess our sins and iniquities, which have provoked your
deep compassion and have shut out your tender mercies. We have
departed from You, O Master, neither keeping your commandments
nor doing that which is pleasing in your sight. For this reason You
have been angry with us, visiting our transgressions with an iron rod
and our injustice with wounds. You have stretched forth your arm. The
earth weeps. The sickness of death has overtaken us. You have struck
us down with discord and strife; we are overtaken by violence and
enemies both within and without. You have given us as dust to our
foes, and we have become the least of all nations, a taunt and a
derision to our neighbors.
O God, great and most awesome, who forgives the evils of men,
who lifts them up who are cast down and sets upright those who have
fallen: Send down from heaven your almighty power, heal the wounds
of our souls, and raise us up from the bed of sickness. Calm the
agitation and discord in our land, banish from us slander and conflict,
murder and drunken-ness, bitter disputes and scandals. Burn out from
our hearts every impurity, conflict and evil, every desire of bloodlust
and revenge, casting out all thoughts of prejudice and injustice.
9
Let us rather love one another, and abide in You as one, O Lord
our God, as You have commanded and directed us.
Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us, for we have been
filled with shame and not one of us is worthy to lift up our eyes to
heaven. Remember the mercies, which You have shown to our
ancestors. Change your rage into loving kindness and grant us help in
our afflictions.
Our Church prays to You through the intercession of your saints
who have labored in our nation: of our fathers among the saints,
Innocent, Evangelizer of Alaska and Apostle to America; of our father
among the saints, John Neuman, bishop of Philadelphia; of the holy,
glorious and right-victorious martyrs Juvenaly of Iliamna and Peter the
Aleut; of the holy priest-martyrs Isaac Jogues and Rene Goupil and of
the great martyr Kateri Tekakwitha the Mohawk; of our venerable and
God-bearing father Herman of Alaska; of the holy and righteous Jacob
of Alaska; of the venerable priests Junipero Serra, Francis Xavier
Sellos and Damien the Leper; and of the righteous and venerable
nuns Elizabeth Ann Seton, Francis Cabrini, Katherine Drexel, Ann
Therese Guerin and Rose Duschene; and of all the saints who have
shone forth in this land and, most importantly of all, the all-holy
Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, under whose mighty protection and
aid does our nation abide.
Instruct us and strengthen all who are in authority, and proclaim
to them the good news concerning your Church and all your faithful
people. Through the power of your Cross strengthen our armed forces
in all good undertaking, and deliver them from every snare of the
enemy. Raise up for us people of strength and understanding,
granting to all of us a spirit of wisdom and fear of God, a spirit of
strength and all other good gifts of your Holy Spirit.
O Lord, we hasten to You and beg You to teach us your will, for
You are our God and with You is the fountain of life and in your light
shall we see light. Let you mercy be upon all who know you, Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever.
All Amen.
The Priest now makes the usual dismissal.
Deacon Wisdom!
All More honorable than the Cherubim and incomparably more glorious that
the Seraphim, undefiled Bearer of God, we glorify you.
Priest Glory be to you, Christ our God, our hope, glory be to you
All + Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and
10
forever and ever, amen. Lord, have mercy. (3) Give the blessing.
Priest May Christ, our true God, through the prayers of his most pure
Mother, of the holy God-crowned rulers Constantine and Helen, the
saints of the Americas, of St. ___ the patron of this holy parish church,
of St. _____ who we commemorate today, and all the saints, may this
same Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us and save us, for He is good
and truly loves mankind.
All Amen.

God bless America

God bless America, land that I love,
Stand beside her, and guide her,
Through the night, with the light from above,
From the mountains, to the prairies
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, my home sweet home,
God bless America! My Home Sweet Home!

The Star-Spangled Banner

Oh say! Can you see, by the dawns early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilights last gleaming!
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that Star-spangled Banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
