Instructions for installing the firmware

For DIR-300 hardware version B1

First, access the DIR-300 web configuration through a web browser. The
default address is http://192.168.0.1.

Check the current firmware version on the device. This can be seen
clearly on the top right-hand corner of the login screen.

- If the firmware version is 2.06 or lower, please follow the complete

guide
- If the firmware version is 2.10 or higher, please follow the steps 1
to 3, skip steps 4-6 and continue again from step 7.

An intermediate firmware need to be installed first in order to upgrade

firmware version 2.06 or lower to the latest firmware.

Please ensure that you do the firmware update on a computer that is

connected via Ethernet cable to the DIR-300 and NOT wirelessly. Please
also note that the firmware upgrade will factory reset the DIR-300. Please
make a note of existing configuration or backup/save your configuration.

Please proceed as below:

Step 1

If you have not done so already, enter the DIR-300 web configuration
through a web browser. The default address is http://192.168.0.1.
Step 2

Please enter username and password when prompted and click Login.
The default username is “admin” and the password field should be left
blank.

Step 3

If a local language pack is installed, please remove this by following the

step 3. Otherwise, please continue to step 4.

Select Maintenance from the top menu and then Save and Restore
from the left-hand side menu.

Click on Delete button next to Delete Language Pack.

Step 4

Select Firmware Update on the left-hand side menu from within

Maintenance.

Install the intermediate firmware by clicking on the Browse button,

select the unzipped file DIR300_middle_firmware_upgrade.bin and
click Upload.
Step 5

The intermediate firmware will now be installed. This will take around two
minutes. Please make sure that you DO NOT POWER OFF the device
during this time. There will be status information on screen, as below.

Step 6

Once the intermediate firmware is installed, you will see that the firmware
version shown on the top right-hand corner of the login screen. Please
make sure that this shows Firmware Version: 2.10. If it does not,
please repeat steps 3-5.

Please log back into the device web configuration. The now default
username is “admin” and the password field should be left blank, click
Login.
Step 7

Select TOOLS from the top menu and then FIRMWARE from the left-
hand side menu.

Install the new firmware by clicking on the Browse button, select the
unzipped firmware file DIR300B5_FW214WWb01.bin and click
Upload.
Step 8

The new firmware will now be installed. This will take around two and a
half minutes. Please make sure that you DO NOT POWER OFF the device
during this time. There will be status information on screen, as below.

Step 9

Once the new firmware is installed, you will see that the firmware version
shown on the top right-hand corner of the login screen. Please make sure
that this shows Firmware Version: 2.14. If it does not, please repeat
steps 6-8.

The firmware upgrade is now complete. You can now reinstall your local
language packs and reconfigure/reload your previous configuration.
