 The design that built
our brand.
It’s not myth or marketing spin, but the Cold Blooded Jacket
is the design that created our brand. We started with a few
rolls of Polartec® Windbloc, a durable, American-made fleece
fabric backed by a fully windproof membrane. But when
word got out about a small Northwest shop pairing premium
pile with custom tailoring, the orders started rolling in from
across the continent.

Yet the real catalyst was one jacket we stitched up for a tall
editor at Backpacker Magazine in 2001. She liked our work
so much that one single jacket led to a Backpacker Editor’s
Choice award in 2002 and an explosion in orders. We’ve
grown with demand, but our shop still makes this original
favorite to order. The difference is that the Cold Blooded
now has a national reputation and a loyal following.

And, it’s still that good.

Base line
Foundational wicking and warmth

Polartec ® Power Dry ® contains the three

prime characteristics for a foundation
layer—it wicks, it dries and it’s soft on skin.
This trilogy is why the fabric performs
so well in sweaty or sticky situations,
but the underlying chemistry we dig is
a bi-component, midweight construction
that wicks moisture, pulling perspiration
outward then spreading it on the surface
for fast dry times. Power Dry ® is also
breathable and machine washable,
a combo your ski partner or significant
other will appreciate. If you can’t tell,
we like Power Dry®, which is why we made
it our first-layer choice.

Lightweight base-layering essentials

Some people simply run hot. For them

we offer Silk Line base layers that harness
a lightweight thickness of Polartec ®
Power Dry ®. Like all Power Dry ® textiles,
the fabric dries quickly, feels soft
next to skin and wicks sweat efficiently
due to bi-component construction.
But the key difference is that this lighter
material won’t overheat the core since
fiber performance is focused on wicking
moisture rather than adding insulation.
In plain English, the technical translation
is Silk Line pieces are weighted perfectly
for sweaty activities, humid weather
or our hot friends.

unto itself. With two layers of laminated stretch
fabric, this winter-weight, soft-shell textile
blends the warmth of fleece with the weather-
shedding characteristics of a true stretch-

worldwide leader in the field. Utilizing laminate
construction, which sandwiches a high-
performance membrane between two textiles,
their recipe creates a one-way waterproof
barrier that still allows perspiration to escape.
While a sea of waterproof/breathables
now exists, we use only premium, name-
brand GORE-TEX® to construct our
ultimate storm shell—the Ridgeback—
