Ongoing Services, Programs &


Events...
Here is the section where you can look to find information about
events and services that are ongoing. We will include names,
phone numbers, addresses and links to the websites, where
available, of programs that may be beneficial to youth in and
around Carson City.
Healtherapy: www.healtherapyinc.com, a nationally recognized equine-
facilitated psychotherapy (EFP) program that provides mental health
services to over 120 children, adolescents, and families, at the invitation
and request of officials within the State Division of Mental Health in
Nevada, is expanding to Northern Nevada. EFP is a professionally-
recognized mental health treatment plan, in which horses are used to
assist the client in learning about themselves and practicing new, more
adaptive behaviors. For more information, please call 775-884-9911.
Latch Key: Latch Key is a before and after school recreational
enrichment program that is held at all Carson City public elementary
schools (except Empire) and observes the school district holiday calendar.

YOUTH VISION: The Community Council on Youth "CCOY" is


collaborating with Access Carson City TV studios by supporting
the development, editing, production and airing of Youth video film
projects in our community on Cable access channel 10.

"Youth Vision" was launched in October 2006, and continues to


focus its activities on building character, commitment, ingenuity and
youth leadership roles in many different areas in our
Community. Through a focused approach, "Youth Vision"
continues to focus its attention on various issues related to youth
and their families which includes but is not limited to: multi-level
efforts to improve educational achievement; involvement in sports
and social and recreational activities and events, as well as
understanding and avoiding the problems of alcohol and drug
abuse through organized prevention activities administered by
"CCOY" and members of its comprehensive community coalition.

Musical Mentoring: Saturdays, Mondays, Tuesdays & Fridays. Children's


Museum of Northern Nevada FREE Hands-on musical instruments, singing
and music instruction.

WIC: The Carson City Health & Human Services WIC Program offers free
healthy food, referrals, nutrition education, free health screenings, and
breastfeeding education to women that are pregnant, women that are
breastfeeding, post partum woman children under the age of five and
infants. For more information, please contact Carson City Health &

services such as Immunizations, well baby check up and family planning.

The Ron Wood Family Resource Center: "Reach Up" Free mental

for LOTS of information about things to see and do in Carson City.

information. Children With Special Health Care Needs program. Family

PARTICIPATE IN YOUR CHILD'S EDUCATION: The Carson City School
District Contact List. Need help with school advocacy, Individualized

Recreation Department's Information. Want to attend a concert, play or
musical? See the Brewery Arts Center's site. Also see the Western
