Inside this issue: Manager’s Pick of the Month

Manager’s Pick of the Month 1 When I asked David Walton, our fiercely loyal and dedicated Opera-
tions Manager, which wine kit he wanted to choose as the Manager’s
Current Special 1 Pick of the Month, he immediately said “the Amarone”. Dave loves
the En Primeur Amarone della Valpolicella Classico and passionately
recommends it to any customer that wants a hearty, full-bodied top-

Chile Trek - February

Thoughts of Chile take you to the awe inspiring Andes and the culture
that surrounds them. Trek embodies the Chilean lifestyle of living
within the mountains with a down to earth philosophy in a multitude
of different microclimates and geographies.

Opening with a dark roasted notes of coffee and chocolate with a hint
of blackberries, this wine balances the best of four classic varietals.

Chilean Culture
Chile’s industry sectors are based primarily on local mineral resources:
agricultural raw materials, and forestry. There is also a large textile,
clothing, and leather industry concentrated mainly in the urban cen-
ters.

For recreation, Cueca, which is a form of polka, is considered to be

Chile’s national dance. And, contrary to popular belief that soccer is
the most popular sport in Chile, it is actually Tennis.

Chilean Food
Typical Chilean cuisine arose from the fusion of traditional indigenous
ingredients with Spanish culture and traditions. Chilean farms typi-
cally produce grapes, apples, pears, onions, wheat, corn, beef, and
poultry. Common Chilean dishes include:

 Ceviche: Raw sea bass in lemon juice

 Empanada de Pino: typical turnover filled with diced meat, onions
olive, raisins and a piece of hard-boiled egg, baked in earthen or
plain oven.
