Once the download is complete you need to

unzip the file and install RekenTest on your
computer. This process should be

Appendix A Installation manual

This manual is a detailed step-by-step guide to download and install
RekenTest. The installation process is not particularly difficult and takes only
a few minutes if you are an experienced user.
A.1 Download
 In the download section of the website, click on the download link of
your choice.
 The browser will ask you if you want to open or save this file. (The
way this is handled depends on your browser). Opt to save this file.
 A dialog will appear asking you where to save this file. You could use
the My Documents folder, or another location, for example the folder you
use to save other downloads.
 Click OK, the file will now be downloaded and saved to your harddisk.
The time needed for this depends on your internet connection speed.
 Wait until the download has completed.

A.2 Uninstallation older version(s)

You can skip to A.3 Installation if you don't have an older version installed,
or you do have have another version installed but want to keep it. For the
latter, please remember to install the new version into a different folder.
Note that even if you have two separate versions installed, these
versions may still share the same file location (read more).
 Now is the time to make a backup of the older version if you want to
do so.
 Uninstall the older version (see below for more information).
 Note that only original files will be deleted, user files like reportfiles
 will not be automatically deleted. If you don't want to keep these files,
you need to delete them manually.

A.3 Installation
You are now ready to run the setup.
 Open the file rt40x.zip and double click the file rt40x.exe. This will
start the setup of RekenTest.
 The installation of RekenTest is pretty straightforward. Just follow the
instructions on the screen.

First select your language.

The setup will continue in the selected language, here English is shown.

Click Next to continue.

Tick I accept the agreement, then click Next to continue.

Click Next to continue.

Destination location
Setup prompts for a folder an to install the program in. By default, the
folder is set to C:\Program Files\RekenTest.
It is recommended to specify a non-existing folder, setup will warn if the
specified folder already exists.

Select components
This is perhaps the most important step in the setup process. Select
either standalone, client or server type installation.

Select RekenTest (standalone edition) if you do not want to use the

program in a network, (e.g. as a home user).
Select RekenTest Client if you want to use the program in a network. A
server program must be present to connect to. Please refer to Chapter 3
Client for more information.
Select RekenTest Server to install the program as a server. Usually only
System Administrators will need to do this. The server is a central data-
storage and enables clients to connect from anywhere. Please refer to
Chapter 2 Server for more information.

Technical note:
Only one executable is provided with all three types in its 'belly'. The executable checks

Startmenu
Specify/modify the name of the startmenu folder if you want to, then click
Next to continue.

Please verify your settings, then click Install to continue.

Please wait until the installation is complete.

 You can launch the application when setup is complete. Setup will close
when you click Finish.
Tip for administrators: RekenTest needs a folder to write data files to.
Please refer to Appendix B: File locations for more information how to
specify this folder.

A.4 Uninstallation
 An uninstaller is provided with the program. Please refer to the
Windows-Help how to remove software with your particular Windows-
version using the Control Panel. Another option is to call unins000.exe,
this also starts the uninstall function.
 The uninstaller only removes files setup has placed initially, so all user
files (if any) will be left behind. Remove these file(s) manually.
