Introduction
This document highlights the mobile handset GPRS configuration setup. The detailed steps are
mentioned for Blackberry and other normal handsets that support J2ME applications.

2. GPRS Configuration Procedure


2.1. BlackBerry GPRS Configuration
1 Go to Options --> Advanced Options --> TCP
2 Check with the operator, APN is correct or not? (Ex: For Airtel : airtelgprs.com)

2.2. Normal Handset GPRS Configuration


Option: 01

1 Contact your operator and check with them whether they support packet data transfer
facility for GPRS/internet

Hand Set: Normal Phone (Other than Black Berry)

Option: 02
Operators should send the OTP Configuration settings to the User Handset. In case this
configuration is not working properly, the users are required to follow the following steps to setup
the Access Point configuration in his/her mobile handset manually.

Nokia Phone Configuration setup details:

1 From your phone's standby screen select "Menu"


2 Select "Settings"
3 Select "Configuration"
4 Select "Personal Configuration settings"
5 Select "Options"
6 Select "Add New"
7 Select "Access point"
8 Select "Account Name" and change the default account name to <OPERATOR> APN.
Example: Airtel APN
9 Select "Access Point Settings"
10 Make sure "Data bearer" is set to "GPRS" or "Packet data"
11 Select "Bearer settings"
12 Select "GPRS access point" or " Packet data access point"
13 Change the access point to one of the following:

If you're on Airtel change the Access point to: airtelgprs.com


If you're on Hutch / Vodaphone change the Access point to: www / portalnmms
If you're on BSNL change the Access point to: celloneportal
If you're on Idea Cellular change the Access point to: internet
If you're on Virgin Mobile change the Access point to: vdata

14 Leave "User name" and “Password” Empty.


15 Go back to the "Configuration" menu ("Menu" - "Settings" - "Configuration")
16 Select "Preferred access point"
17 Select "<OPERATOR> APN"
Mobile Handset GPRS Configuration Details

Samsung Phone Configuration setup details:

1 From your phone's standby screen select "Menu"


2 Select "Settings"
3 Select "Connection Settings"
5 Select "Options"
6 Select "Add New Connection"
7 Select " WAP Setting"
8 Select "Profile Name" and change the default profile name to <OPERATOR> APN.
Example: Airtel APN
Homepage URL: http://iobnet.mobi/
Proxy <uncheck the proxy setting>
Linger time (sec) = 90
DNS <uncheck the proxy setting>
Select ‘Bearer’ as “GPRS”
Advanced Settings
Change the APN to one of the following:

If you're on Airtel change the Access point to: airtelgprs.com


If you're on Hutch / Vodaphone change the Access point to: www / portalnmms
If you're on BSNL change the Access point to: celloneportal
If you're on Idea Cellular change the Access point to: internet
If you're on Virgin Mobile change the Access point to: vdata
Login Id=<blank>

Password=<blank>

13 Save the settings

SonyEricsson Phone Configuration setup details:

1 Go to “Web services’ on the main menu and press the middle button Web services
5 Select "Options"
7 Select ‘Options’ and then select " WAP Profiles"
Select ‘New Profile’
8 Enter the default profile name to <OPERATOR> APN. Example: Airtel APN
Go to ‘Connect using’ and select New account
Select ‘GPRS data’ and give the following APN name
Change the APN to one of the following:

If you're on Airtel change the Access point to: airtelgprs.com


If you're on Hutch / Vodaphone change the Access point to: www / portalnmms
If you're on BSNL change the Access point to: celloneportal
If you're on Idea Cellular change the Access point to: internet
If you're on Virgin Mobile change the Access point to: vdata

13 Save the settings

Mobile Handset GPRS Configuration Details

1 Once the settings are completed, user should go to the application deployed folder.
(Applications / Games / Downloads - Depends on mobile handset)
2 User Selects the Application (Application displays with IOB's Logo)
3 Select Options --> Settings
4 Select the GPRS settings sent by operator (Ex: "Mobile Office" for Airtel, "Vodaphone
Connect" for Vodaphone etc)

Note:

When you've downloaded and installed J2me Application, do not run it immediately (if prompted).
Exit (close) the GPRS session you opened to download, or reboot the phone. It is similar to
installing a new application on a PC, you need to reboot.

3. J2ME over SMS Configuration Setup


3.1. Nokia Mobile Handset SMS Configuration details
1 Go to application deployed folder. (Applications / Games / Downloads - Depends on mobile
handset)
2 Select the Application (Application displays with IOB's Logo)
3 Select ‘Options’
4 Select ‘Application access’ - > Communication -> Messaging
5 Select ‘Ask every time’. This is a one time activity.

3.2. Samsung Mobile Handset SMS Configuration details


1 Go to application deployed folder. (Applications / Games / Downloads - Depends on mobile
handset)
2 Select the Application (Application displays with IOB's Logo)
3 Select ‘Options’ -> Permission
4 Select ‘Send Message’
5 Select ‘Allow, always ask’. This is a one time activity

Note:
• ‘J2ME over SMS’ Application can be installed on any Java Enabled mobile handset.
• The handset is required to have the capability of SMS send and receive ‘port’ based SMS
Messages.
• Incase if mobile handset is not having this capability, the ‘J2ME over SMS’ will not be
supported in such mobile handset.
