CHARLESTON — Boy Scout Troop 141 members


participated in a Memorial Day service Monday at
Mound Cemetery to honor veterans.
Keith Kohanzo, committee chairman for Troop 141,
has had the minute-gun used by the Scouts in the
ceremony in his family for generations.
“We shoot minute guns,” Kohanzo said. “We had the
saluting guns available and they are done in one-
minute intervals.”

The original ceremony took place at 10 a.m. in Mound Cemetery, Charleston. Also among area events to
honor veterans on this Memorial Day weekend, Charleston VFW Post 1592 and Ladies Auxiliary conducted
observances in Charleston and Ashmore.
