Dear Sacket Harbor School Community,
Unfortunately, the Sackets Harbor Central School District received confirmation from Jefferson
County Public Health that a second student has tested positive for COVID-19.
The District is working in collaboration with Jefferson County Public Health who will be
performing the contact tracing process pursuant to their protocols, The contact tracing process
identifies anyone who comes into close contact with someone who has COVID-19. Officials
from Jefferson County Public Health will communicate with any staff member or with any
parent/guardian of a student found to be in close contact with a positive case. If you are
contacted by Jefferson County Public Health, please follow their recommendations.
Sackets Harbor Central School District's reopening plan was developed to address potential
positive cases, The District continues to follow the policies and procedures/protocols to ensure
the health and safety of students and employees. Social distancing protocols and disinfecting
measures continue to be in place.
Because our school building was shut down on Friday, November 6, 2020, we are prepared to
safely reopen tomorrow, November 9, 2020. Extra cleaning and disinfection took place
throughout the entire school building. With that being said, I ask that our parents/guardians of
students in Grades 7-12 be prepared for a possible pivot to virtual instruction, If this becomes
necessary, I will inform you of our transition plan to virtual learning,
As much as the District is attempting to be completely transparent in this matter, we are faced
with the competing privacy rights of our staff and students, The Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any
personally identifiable information. The District is not permitted to release any additional
information,We appreciate your continued support and understanding. We will continue to work together to
‘ensure the health and safety of our students and staff as we move forward.
Sincerely, /
clo Lag”
