Dear Wheatley Education Campus Parents and Families,

Recently we communicated that two CARE (Canvas Academic Real Engagement) classrooms would be
offered at Wheatley EC beginning on Wednesday, November 18. Unfortunately, due to staff availability
through our partner organization, we will not be able to open any CARE classrooms this week.

I want to acknowledge that this is disappointing news, but my priority has and always will be to keep our
students safe and healthy while limiting staffing changes or disruptions to their learning schedule. We
are currently working with DC Public Schools to determine the next steps for potentially offering a CARE
classroom starting in December or January. We will communicate with interested families and our
community as soon as we know more.

I have been so impressed by the things our scholars have accomplished during virtual learning and look
forward to continuing to see their achievements as we remain in remote learning for Term 2. My hope is
you will also continue to partner with our school staff to make virtual learning as engaging and
productive for our students as possible. If you are having any issues with a DCPS issued device that is
hindering your child’s ability to fully participate in class, please do not hesitate to reach out. You can also
call the DCPS Tech Line at 202-442-5885 for assistance.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via email at
Shenora.Plenty@k12.dc.gov.

In Partnership,

Dr. Shenora Plenty
