Job Description:

This position is in support of General Services Administration’s FAS Applications, Maintenance, and
Enhancements (GSA FAME) program with GSA. We are responsible for supporting all tasks and activities
associated with the development, maintenance, and enhancements (DM&E) and operations of GSA FAS’ IT
Systems. All employees must be able to pass a Federal Suitability Check for a position of public trust.

Position is Systems Architect leading the design and development of code enhancements as well as new
systems. Position is responsible for providing analysis, implementation and support for multiple systems. Position
is responsible for the daily task direction, successful execution and fielding of the projects assigned to them.
Position is expected to work with diverse disciplines (SW Engineers, System Engineers, Test Engineers, System
Administrators, and Configuration Managers) in a teaming environment to reach a common goal. Position is
responsible to make recommendations for prioritization of problem solutions based upon user/customer priority
ranking. Position is required to make judgments on the technical completeness of projects and to ensure the
proper engineering disciplines are applied. Candidate must have experience working with Clear Path.

Application development and Modernization using COBOL, DMSII, Web Transaction Server, and WEBPCM
technology, HTML, Java Script, CANDE, WFL, MGSBEB Web services, Unisys TECHNOLOGIES AND
TOOLS LIKE, JProcessor, DMSQL, XML Parser
• Provide infrastructure support for Virtual IP Creation, DNS name creation, Atlas and JBOSS server
configuration, Site Manager and web site configuration, Creating the MCP Shares and setting permission levels
for the User codes, firewall rule requests, iRule for BigIP entries, DNS name migration and any configuration for
Development and Production Windows servers, Web transaction server and JBOSS application server.
• Convert Web/Clear Path/ColdFusion/PowerBuilder /ASP.net/VBA applications to J2EE using JBOSS, MySQL
platform, JProcessor, DMSQL and Unisys XML parser.
• Perform peer reviews. Manage deployments and configuration items. Facilitate project planning, and test
planning activities.
• Assess new web technologies. Resolve operational and system related critical issues, interface with the
business line to refine requirements, suggest system changes, brainstorm solutions and perform R & D projects.
• Lead development projects, design architecture framework, evaluate new technologies, identify new project
scope and opportunities for development, maintain and enhance a J2EE development environment, interface and
integrate the applications with the mainframe on Windows Integrated Platform servers.
• Responsible for demonstrating and providing innovative ideas and solutions, providing and resolving technical
solutions, resolve critical issues, problem solving skills and on the spot decision making capabilities.
• Provide development, maintenance support and Technical Guidance for Software activities for the group of
applications in the division.
• Evaluate the tools and product, provide prototyping, and work on licensing, maintenance contract and renewal of
the products.

Critical Technology Requirements:


• Experience in Mainframe development and Modernization using COBOL, DMSII, Web Transaction Server, and
WEBPCM technology, HTML, Java Script, CANDE, WFL and Web services
• Experience in using Open source product like, MySQL database, JBOSS Application Server, TOMCAT and
DRUPAL
• Experience in application development using J2EE tools like Servlets, JSP, EJB, Web services, JSF, Seam
Framework, MVC Design pattern, eclipse, XML, SOA concepts, SOAP, SOAPUI, WSDL, etc.
• Experience in evaluating new tools and products, provide prototyping, and work on licensing, maintenance
contract and renewal of the product.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be competent at preparing and presenting formal briefings
to internal and customer senior management
