Instagram Vs Reality
In this modern world everyone is on social media. You start your day checking your
Instagram account, then you post pictures, videos and stories all day long. It’s addictive. But
how much of it is true? Do they represent who you really are? People are always looking for the
perfect shot in the perfect place, and then they edit the photo so it can look even more perfect.
Everyone on Instagram is happy, everyone shows what a good life they have.
Happiness depends on the reaction of your followers. These followers, who participate in
your daily life, become your family. When you post a picture on social media, people
immediately react to it. Your self-esteem, which sometimes is very low, depends on the likes
and the comments you get from your posts. Some people don’t show who they really are
because they’re afraid no one will accept them.
Some people only use social media to convince themselves they’re happy. It’s like living in a
bubble, or in a fictional world that is even better than the real one. But social media isn’t all bad.
There are also many good reasons to go online and post your likes and comments. Now don’t
forget to like, share, comment and subscribe!

Exercise 1
Speaker 1: Oh, dear... It’s raining! How am I going to get home? I’m going to get all wet!
Speaker 2: Well, get ready for a rainy week.
Speaker 1: What’s wrong with the world? I mean, two days ago I was lying in the sun or diving in the pool. Now it’s raining and
it’s cold too! It feels like it’s winter again.
Speaker 2: Climate change. That’s what it is.
Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. The thought that our planet is dying is terrible. Well, at least I do my part to help protect the planet. I
recycle a lot. At home we’ve got 3 different bins for paper, plastic and glass.
Speaker 2: That’s great! I don’t always recycle, I must confess. But I am very careful with saving water. For example, I always
take a shower instead of a bath.
Speaker 1: I also save water at home. Every time I brush my teeth, I always close the faucet. My family is also keen on saving
energy. There are so many simple ways to save energy. An easy one is to turn off the TV when no one is watching it.
Speaker 2: Another easy one is to use special lightbulbs. They are more expensive than ordinary ones, but in the long run you save
a lot of money.
Speaker 1: We need to protect the environment but we also need to get going! It has stopped raining! Let’s go!

Writing
1. …I have a healthy diet. I usually eat a lot of fruit every day, like apples, bananas and sometimes grapes. My meals also
include fresh vegetables. I eat mostly homemade food because it’s healthier and cheaper. Another important rule is that I
don’t skip meals, especially breakfast. However, I like to have my junk food every now and then. I can’t resist hamburgers,
chips, hotdogs nor pizza. I hardly ever drink soft drinks. How about you? Do you have a healthy diet?
