THE ACCELERATED PROGRAM (AP)
ACCELERATED PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Budokon Academy Accelerated Program (AP) is a 200-
hour / 4-weekend intensive course offered to qualified inter-
national and out-of-state students who do not have access to
a certified Budokon Academy Training center in their area.
Open to all belt levels, the Academy Accelerated Program is
held at Budokon International Headquarters in Charlotte,
NC and is taught exclusively by Kancho Cameron Shayne.

WHO SHOULD JOIN THE AP?

• Serious students who are familiar with the Budokon sys-
tem (either through Budokon Conditioning Classes, Bu-
dokon DVDs, or Budokon workshops) and would like
to take their practice to the next level.
• Anyone with a background in yoga, martial arts, dance,
gymnastics, or other movement art who is interested in
moving and thinking in new and inspired ways.
• International or out-of-state students who do not have
access to a Budokon Academy training facility in their
city or country.
• Serious students who can devote a minimum of four
weekends of their time and resources to travel to the
Budokon Academy Headquarters in Charlotte, NC.
• Students who are interested in a future career as a Bu-
dokon Teacher.

AP CURRICULUM
In the Accelerated Program, our students learn to master
the 6 pillars of the Budokon system in a condensed 4-
weekend format:
1. Thoughts 4. Environment
2. Emotions 5. Nutrition
3. Relationships 6. Fitness

These are the six most important areas of our lives. Under each pillar, we cover a wide variety of top-
ics including brain development, language, cognition, belief systems, communication, relationship
patterns, physiology, dietary guidelines, environmental sustainability, meditation techniques, yogic
asana, martial arts standing and ground techniques (including striking, throws, and submissions),
the Budokon Animal series and much more. As you progress in belt rank you will build upon the
base knowledge you have learned from the previous work.
AP FORMAT & REQUIRED HOURS
OUR 4-PHASE PROGRAM
The 4 Phases of the AP consist of:
• Three (3) twenty seven (27) hour weekends (Friday/
Saturday / Sunday)
• One (1) final eighteen (18) hour Belt Testing week-
end (Saturday / Sunday).

Students do not need to complete their 4 weekend phases

consecutively. However, the student must test for their belt
rank within one year of completing their 3rd phase. Upon
completion of the Accelerated Program the student will re-
ceive the rank of the corresponding belt curriculum.

NOTE: To receive a Professional Teacher Certification, the student is required to attend a separate
Professional Teacher Training Conditioning Course and is subject to additional rules and require-
ments. Visit the Teacher Training section of our website for more information.

CLASSROOM HOURS BREAKDOWN

During each weekend phase, each day will consist of roughly:
• 4 hours of group study & philosophy discussion
• 4 hours of physical practice
• 1 hour break for lunch

During the group discussions, students will work on in-class assignments and will also be assigned
homework, which they must complete by their next phase. During the physical practice, students
will learn our signature yogic and martial arts techniques step-by-step. Students will also learn the
Budokon Kata for each belt level. Students will review and build upon the material they learn in
their first phase in each additional phase. In the Accelerated Program, students achieve mastery
through repetition.

AP BELT TESTING OVERVIEW

The fourth and final phase of the Academy Accelerated Program (Red Belt through Brown Belt) is
strictly devoted to belt testing. All AP belt exams will be personally conducted by Kancho Cameron
Shayne out of Budokon International Headquarters in Charlotte, NC.

Four (4) Belt Testing Weekends will be held per year. This allows students to find a weekend that
fits in their schedule as well as gives students the option to postpone their training and log extra
hours, should they not yet feel ready to test. Students may test at any time within one (1) year of
completing their 3rd phase.

The Belt Testing Weekends are open to all belt ranks. This gives students the opportunity to meet
fellow Budokon brothers and sisters across the country and encourages the sense of family and cama-
raderie that the Budokon organization is built upon. Since all belt levels come together for these
weekends, higher-ranking students have the chance to showcase their skills and beginning students
have the opportunity to see what can be achieved at the higher belt levels.

AP BELT / RANK TESTING REQUIREMENTS:

• Students must attend the required number of
phases per belt, including the final Belt (rank) Test-
ing Phase.
• Students must log the required number of personal
practice hours per belt and submit their final log to
Budokon International one (1) week before their
final Belt Testing phase.
• Students must turn in a written exam 1 month be-
fore their final Belt Testing phase and receive a
passing grade of 90% (Contact info@budokon.com
for written exam and grading).
• Students must pass a movement exam by success-
fully demonstrating the required techniques and
Kata for each belt level.
