TUV Rheinland organizes forum on ‘Hazardous Substance Process


Management’

Bangalore, February 19 2011 – TUV Rheinland (India) Pvt. Ltd., a leading provider of
Technical, Safety and Certification Service is holding the first of its kind forum on “Hazardous
Substance Process Management” for manufacturing companies on Tuesday 22nd February 2011
at Lemon Tree Hotel, Electronic city between 09.30 a.m. - 01.30 p.m. Senior industry experts
like Mr. G. Raj Narayan, , President, ELCIA( (Electronics City Industries Association)

Rheinland Taiwan will address heads of companies and over 60 industry representatives.

The forum is the kick-start event of a Comprehensive PPP program for Hazardous Substance
Process Management (CP-HSPM) by TÜV Rheinland, jointly funded by DEG Germany, Europe’s
largest developmental finance institution. The programme aims to enable Electrical and
Electronic Equipment (EEE )component & product manufacturing companies operating in
Karnataka and Tamilnadu region implement global best practices for Hazardous substance
process management, and comply with Global Environmental Regulations. TUV Rheinland will
also provide effective hazardous substance process management procedures and best practices
as a part of the programme.

According to Mr.Shanmuga Sundaram, Hazardous Substance Process Management


Programme Director & Manager Industry Services TUV Rheinland India, “Manufacturing
companies in and around Bangalore produce a significant amounts of EEE products and
generate substantial amount of hazardous waste every year, which could lead to severe
environment, safety and health issues. The PPP project aims to address issues at three key
levels- awareness, involvement and implementation. We will organize mass mobilization
programmes, create multi stakeholder expert pools to train and facilitate capacity building to
switch to sustainable industrial production. 10 SMEs will be selected as a part of the programme
to consult and pave the way for them to get certified for international standards such as ISO
9001 and IECQ HSPM QCO 80000.”
