Children- A valuable resource or an object of abuse.

Children are nature’s gift to mankind who form the most valuable resource of the world. Yet it is
alarming to note that 40 million children worldwide are maltreated and abused. The United Nation’s
have a special convention for the Rights of the Child. A child too has its own sense of freedom and
dignity that must be respected by the elders but somehow being powerful they tend to overpower
the children’s innocence. The situation of Indian children are pathetic as these children do not have
their basic needs of food and shelter being fulfilled to think of fighting for their rights. Most of them
otherwise can never think of raising their voices against their elders as the society do not permit for
the same. Creating awareness amongst the elders is the only plausible solution in the Indian
conditions to deal with violation of children’s right.

The problem of child labour in India.

We can see children work everywhere and the problem of child labor has increased even so after
independence.Mass poverty, hunger and Illiteracy have added to this problem The employers find the
children as cheap, dedicated , innocent and hardworking laborers . Children are employed
everywhere from heavy industries to small factories, hotels, restaurants, domestic workers etc. If the
government or state agencies work to stop such labour these children and their family members find
it difficult to run their family and many die of hunger and thus it has become a vicious circle for the
state to erradicate a problem of this stature. The government is thus trying to work for the welfare of
the society through various schemes so that children would not need to work and is also trying to stop
the children from working in hazardous conditions.

4. REALITY SHOWS- WHERE TO DRAW THE LINE.

The emergence of satellite television has brought with it various entertainment channels and daily
shows. Amongst the popular sop operas came the reality shows that would depict non fiction work on
the silver screen. The reality shows have also gained momentum as they started raising TRPs for
their channels and hence adding to the revenue. In a race to grab higher TRPs every other channel
started with its own set of reality shows in order to grab the share of advertiser’s money. And in such
a scenario what has happened is the vulgarization and sensationalizing of every trivial issue
polluting the minds of young and adults alike. The reality shows that were a hit in western world were
brought to the Indian television screen with added spice and vulgarity without sparing to think that it
could break the very fabric of our own culture. These channels and producers have forgotten that
they cater these programs to an audience that has certain values and ethics inculcated in them and
that their wrong portrayal and illusionary dramas and battles could hurt them or could influence them
to something undesirable and unwanted for the progress of the society and the nation as a whole. On
the other hand even the censor board is sitting hands crossed in matters where it should play its role
and lead the citizen of this country to a safer future. It is critical for us to point out this mess in the
reality of these unreal television shows that have crossed all lines. An intervention by the government
to stop such vulgar programs, if any, is needed.

Fund raising for relief work for the earthquake victims.

The school student cabinet has proposed to help the earthquake victims of the neighboring town of
Rampur and collect necessary funds for the same with the help of students and staff members. The
earthquake has displaced many families and have rendered them homeless who require immediate
support and aid. The cabinet has decided to start a fundraising campaign in the school and to form a
group of volunteers to raise the funds after the school hours through their family, social networks and
neighborhood. The victims would also require clothes, food and temporary sanitation facilities. Hence
the school would request the students to volunteer for helping the victims with required help on the
spot. It is critical to note that such noble cause must be met with urgent seriousness so that the relief
could be provided at the right time. Students have also requested to bring in any discarded cloth, bed
sheet, or blanket which could be useful to the earthquake victims. The school has also decided to set
aside 10% of the profit of school’s fund for the victims and the rescue operation . Every student,
teacher and members of the staff must be involved to make this cause effective and to raise funds
that could deliver the needs of the victims of the earthquake.

A great people have been moved to defend a great nation- PRESIDENT BUSH

New Delhi, 14 September: The United States of America was shattered to bits and pieces as the news of the attack by
terrorists spread everywhere. Americans were on the street as they saw the twin towers amidst flames and ashes.
Everyone wore a grim disbelief and panic could be seen everywhere.”The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings,
fires burning, huge structures
collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding
anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos
and retreat. But they have failed; our country is strong”, said the president who was addressing the media. He added
that Americans are the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity and that no one can keep that light from
shining. The government has started the response plans as the rescue work is underway and the Americans are trying
to run the business as usual so that the intentions of the terrorists aren’t fulfilled.

He exclaimed,” Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of
America - with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring
for strangers and neighbours who came to give blood and help in any way they
could”. The president proudly reiterated that the financial institutions remain strong and the economy shall be open
soon.
The search for the culprits is underway as the world’s strongest nation is on a hunt to catch the perpetrators of the
attack. The President shared the message of condolence and grief with the family of the victims.
