Materials

Students are not required to purchase a camera. Cameras will be available for checkout
daily throughout the semester.

I am pleased to announce that Creative Photography One students will be able to buy a
“Starter Kit” directly from me that will contain all of the materials needed for the course.*
The materials will be purchased from N. Tampa Photography and sold at face value,
including tax. If you would prefer to buy materials on your own, I will require a $5.00 Lab
fee for darkroom chemicals.

The kit will include:

15 Sheets of 4”x6” Light Sensitive Enlarging Paper (for making pinhole photographs)
20 Sheets of 8”x10” Light Sensitive Enlarging Paper (for making prints)
1 Light Proof bag (for storing paper)
3 rolls of 24 exposure Tmax 400 black & White Film
3 Printfile Negative Sleeves (for storing negatives)
5 Clear bags (for print storage)
Darkroom Chemicals for the semester (these will not be handed out)

Price: $40.00 (This works out to a little over $2.00 per week)

*If a student needs additional film, paper or other materials I will have them for sale
throughout the year.
Grading System
Creative Photography

The total number of points for each grading period will vary (depending on
the number of assignments.)

The point values for each assignment are:

Homework: 5

Class Participation: 5

Contact Sheet: 10

Written Classwork: 10

Quizzes: 10-20

Tests: 30-50

Bellwork: 45 (1 point per day)

Shooting/ Studio Assignments (criteria below): 50


• Technical quality/ neatness
• Creativity
• Composition
• Fulfills assignment
• Critique participation

Written Critiques: 50

Unprepared for Class: -2

Late Camera: -5 per day

Uses Time Wisely: 50 (per grading period)

Late Work: You have 1 week to turn in a late assignment. After 1 week, it becomes an F.
Your grade goes down 1 letter grade for each day an assignment is late. Homework
assignments and bellwork, will not be accepted late. Shooting assignments are due at
the beginning of class on the day of the critique.
