James Peter Conlan attacks students and tries to turn them over to police at UPR

White entitlement knows no borders. A US-born professor

named James Peter Conlan bullied, then physically attacked a group
of striking students at the University of Puerto Rico.

James P. Conlan is over 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, and towered over a
group of peaceful students striking for access to the university. Conlan
opposes the strike and has been harassing and attempting to physically
provoke non-violent students for some time. They did not respond until
he physically attacked one of the young men at the campus
gates. James Conlan is lucky they were more generous in spirit than
most.

It is clear from the exchange that James Conlan attempted to use his
physical stature (and position as a professor at the University of Puerto
Rico) to provoke an exchange that would lead to police intervention. He
towers over the students, puts his hands in their face, pushes into them
and lectures them on "the law". Maybe Professor James
Conlan should respect the rule of law when it comes to his hero George
W. Bush torturing prisoners of war, destroying entire nations without
cause or shredding the first amendment. Maybe he'd even realize that
Puerto Rico's outlandish colonial status is a direct violation of
international law when it comes to colonialism. But he doesn't think the
law applies to white men like him. That's why he is so eager to bully
and physically attack students. He expects no justice for Puerto Ricans.

Previously, James P. Conlan barged into student assemblies with

cameras attempting to take pictures of strike leaders' faces in order to
turn them in to the police. This guy is a royal asshole and a freelance
pig.

Armed police have been occupying the UPR campus off and
on for months. The right-wing fanatic running Puerto Rico
right now is attempting to destroy public education and has
not hesitated to use extreme brutality to intimidate students
and educators into accepting his corporate take-over.
If James Conlan were truly an educator, he would understand what a violation armed police are
to an autonomous university — an idea that first gained ground in early modern Europe exactly
to check the power of kings to determine what is (and who is) taught. James Conlan doesn't care
that students are being pushed out of the university. His attempt to attack students is now
exposed, but in his white entitlement he actually thinks he is a victim. Poor rugby thug.

Thug James P. Conlan may think his white skin and macho act will get him over as a "victim".
But here's the simple truth: for the rest of his life and academic career, students all over the
world will know what a violent bully James Peter Conlan is. They know he attempts to
provoke fights in order to turn students over to the police. Maybe he should look for work in
Libya since Gaddafi is reportedly hiring mercenaries to assault protesters there. "It's the law!"

Students may also learn what kind of car James Peter Conlan d rives and his license plate
number. They may share what he does late at night (that might not look so good in committee
reports). They may share what they know of his trips abroad and what he does on them. Since
people are paying attention, maybe he'll learn what the rule of law is all about. Hope James P.
Conlan keeps that nose clean!

Puerto Rico may still be a colony, but the days of genocidal conquistador Cristobal Colon
burning "savages" at the stake is LONG OVER. Hatuey lives, maldito.

We've got our eye on you, Conlan. We will never forget. And we're not just in Puerto Rico. When
you do your little workshops on the "travel literature" of genocide — remember that we
remember.

"The arc of the universe is long, but it bends towards justice."

TO BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR: We do not advocate violence towards this thug.

Violenceis clearly what thug James Peter Conlan wants, knowing that racist police will ruin the
lives of students pursuing education and justice. Instead, just let him know how you feel. Let his
students know what kind of a thug he is. And his neighbors if you feel like it. When he appears
internationally, everyone should know he attacked students and has attempted to take pictures of
student leaders SO THEY WILL BE TURNED OVER TO THE POLICE. This man disdains
democracy, popular education and the people of Puerto Rico. He is a pig. Returning his violence
only serves his purpose. SO DO NOT PLAY HIS GAME. Change the game, let the people
know!
