The Docking Systems developed by Aeronurti Engineering
has the goal to provide products that improve the safety
and efficiency of airline docking procedures.
Automated Guide‐In System was developed to guide‐in and
stop aircraft in precise positions at airport terminals. New
airport design generally calls for nose‐in docking with
precision positioning of aircraft to loading bridges and fuel
pits. The AERON System is designed with this concept, to
accommodate all aircraft types on a single docking device
without the error factor involved with changes in aircraft
height due to variations in gross weight. AERON docking
systems comply with ICAO Annex 14 Recommendations.

Parking tolerance with respect to the loading bridge in
aircraft having pilot tubes forward of the passenger doors is
extremely critical. The AERON System holds a tolerance of
+/‐ 15 CM.
INSTALLATION POSITION
The AERON System consists of a metal enclosure housing
attached to the terminal building or other support precisely
lined up with, and perpendicular to, and 535MM left of the
aircraft J line or centerline.
BASIC DESIGN
The bottom of the enclosure housing contains a green neon
tube flanked by 2 red tubes. The green tube is encased in
baffles, the red tubes behind flanges so as not to be visible
straight‐on. When the pilot is taxiing in and can see only the
green tube, the aircraft is in a correct centerline position,
+/‐ 7.5CM. If a line of red is visible on either side, the
aircraft is off line in that direction.
The upper half of the enclosure housing contains digital aircraft indicators ‐‐ 747, DC10, 707, A330, etc. ‐‐
up to 31 different types as required for a particular position for that aircraft mix.
The figure below shows how the aircraft guidance board interactively informs the pilot about the closing
rate of the aircraft to its stop position. The board also showed the aircraft type (or the flight number) for
pilot’s confirmation. The panel indicates closing rate of 10M, 5M, 2M. When aircraft reach the stop bar on
the apron, the word STOP appears.

The LEDs below the aircraft indicator consist of three separate lamps that function as follows:
• Green ‐ ramp clear, ready for aircraft. The guide‐in system has been programmed for aircraft
indicated.
• Yellow indicates that 5 meter remain until stop.
• Red indicates STOP. As each color is activated, the other color automatically shuts off.

CONTROL
The control unit is turned on by activating the START switch on a
control box at the base of the ramp. After that one command, the
system is completely automatic. The red and yellow lamps are
activated by the aircraft relative position as its nose wheel passes
over induction loops in the ramp.
These loops are turns of Ø1.5MM2 wires in 6MM x 40MM deep saw
cuts in a rectangular configuration 300 x 2000MM. The wires (voltage
less than 5 volts) are covered with epoxy seal. Since aircraft have
different nose wheel to passenger door dimensions, separate sets of
loops are required for different types of aircraft. However, where
apron drive loading bridges are available and fueling pits are flexible, it is possible to accommodate
various types of aircraft with common loops.
There is a keypad selector on the control box for selecting of each type of aircraft ‐‐ any mix of aircraft
types. In order for the ground crew to activate the START switch to indicate the readiness of the gate
to receive a particular aircraft, the proper switch position must be selected.
After docking, recycling is not necessary since the controlling circuitry automatically de‐activates the entire
system approximately 10 seconds after activation of the red lamp. This eliminates the possibility of an aircraft
entering the gate with the wrong controlling loops activated.
SAFETY FEATURES
For emergency stop, which overrides circuitry activating
the red stop light, press RED switch on TEST/MANUAL on
top of control box (if DEAD MAN switch is installed ‐
release switch). This may be required should auxiliary
vehicles obstruct the path of the parking aircraft, loading
bridges are improperly stowed, etc. Semi‐automatic and
manual switches are on the controller for remote or
temporary parking positions. "Dead‐man" switch is
optional.
Additional "fail safe" devices have been incorporated. A
search system has been installed which deactivates the
entire system should any of the lamps fail. Pilots are
instructed that this means STOP. A printed circuit check
system controls and shows conditions with indicator lights
on the control panel.
AERON System is all‐weather with loops cut into the ramp
below the surface, thus unaffected by rain or dust. All
components in the control box are solid state and they will
operate in extreme heat or cold. The detectors meet all
international specifications on temperature requirements
