Dear Mr. Speaker:

Please allow this letter to confirm my official request for your support ofthe Special Committee
on Government Accountability to investigate the Meatpacking Industry, specifically with regard
to pnce fixing and other anticompetitive practices in the cattle industry, including but not limited
to;

• reducing purchase and slaughter volumes offed cattle, in particular cash cattle;
• orchestrating and enforcing anticompetitive procurement practices;
• continuing to import foreign cattle after it became uneconomical; and
• closing and idling plants.

Please understand Missouri farmers and cattlemen are being harmed by the low live cattle price
while the meatpackers are enjoying an all-time high price for their beef products.
The undersigned and I hereby respectfully request your support in launching an investigation to
ensure our Missouri citizens are not the victim of illegal, and anticompetitive practices in the
meatpacking industry.
