What is new for gas turbines? …. and CCGT’s .
• Gas turbines play today an important role in power generation and
will continue to do in the next decades.
• Question to the suppliers: please , give an overview of the recent
developments?
• This presentation summarizes the answers of Siemens, Alstom,
Ansaldo and Mitsubishi.

Continous Upgrading
After the Siemens License expiring date (October 2004) and based on its
own experience and specific needs of its customers, in the last few years
Ansaldo Energia has continuosly upgraded its Gas Turbine with several
packages allowing:
Performance optimization
Enviromental impact reduction
Increasing in operating flexibility
Enhance availability and reliability
Upgrading life cycle of critical items
Maintenance activities improvement
AE94.3A4 Evolution
Upgrading introduced after licence expiration
– Life cycle analysis of all turbine B&V to improve power output, efficiency
and/or to increase maintenance intervals
– Fogging system
– Flexible hoses for gas and oil on board distribution
The new High Pressure Purging allows dual fuel Gas Turbines to
work with higher efficiency and stability, due to the fact that burners
are always kept clean and free of any solid particles.
Premix mode is maintained during all fuel gas operation (including load
rejection, grid support, fuel change over, etc.)
This operation mode has been experienced for the first time on annular
GT by AEN on its own AE64.3A in Terni.
ADVANTAGES:
No dead time due to burner switch over during loading/unloading
Possibility to operate in island mode at any load
Very simple fuel system (easy operation and maintenance)
