Fluke 8060A Digital Multimeter

To Turn ON, slide the GREEN POWER

SWITCH Up towards the top of the meter. All
LCD (Liquid Crystal Displays) will momentarily
show while the meter completes Self-Test. Then
the display will show numbers based upon your
Function and Range Selections.

CAUTION: These are Push-On/Push-Off Switches. Only

push Buttons In. NEVER pull them out.

SELECT FUNCTION. A (Amps = Current), V (Volts), Ω

(Ohms = Resistance) by pushing the appropriate button(s) at
the bottom of the meter. Then select DC-AC.

SELECT RANGE. If you don’t know the approximate

Voltage, Current, or Resistance, start with the highest range
button (at the top of the left side of the meter). Step down
one range at a time until you get appropriate readings.

To measure S (Conductance = Nano-Semens = 1/Ω), select

the Ω function, and press the top two buttons in together.

To measure Semi-conductance (the Forward and Reverse

Biasing of a diode junction) , select the Ω function,
and press both the 2k and 20k buttons in together.

Note the Test Lead connection labels on the Banana Jack

Inputs. Connect the Common and V or Ω Jacks to measure
voltage or resistance. Use the A and Common Jacks to
measure current.

The Hz, dB, and REL Buttons are momentary Toggle

Buttons that toggle the meter into and out of that Function.
The →← Button has three states for Continuity
Measurements.

An OL (Over Range) indication means that the input is greater than the selected range.
Press higher Range buttons, one at a time, until you get desired readings.

To measure Frequency, press the V Button in, press the DC-AC Button in for AC. Press the Hz Button.
“The frequency function is fully autoranging over four ranges: 200 Hz, 2000 Hz, 20 k Hz, and 200 k Hz.
“Depending on the frequency of the ac input signal, the 8060A automatically selects the proper range
and displays the appropriate measurement unit, either Hz or kHz. “Frequencies less than 12.2 Hz are not
measured reliably, and frequencies greater than 199.99 kHz cause the OL Over Range indicator to
appear.” Pressing the Hz Button again will toggle the meter back to measuring AC Volts. (Instruction
Manual, Page 2-21).

“The REL (Relative) function allows you to store any reading as an offset or relative reference value.
“When you press the REL button, the REL indicator appears in the upper right corner of the display and
the 8060A stores the next measurement in a register a;pmg wotj the function and range. “Subsequent
measurements are displayed as the difference between the measured value and the stored relative
reference.” (Instruction Manual, Page 2-19).

“To select the Continuity Function →←, first select the resistance function and then press the →←
button under the display. “The →← button functions like a three position switch: the first button press
enables visible continuity (the →← indicator is displayed), the second button press enables audible
continuity (the →← and audible indicator are displayed), and the third button press cancels continuity
selection.” (Please see the Instruction Manual, Page 2-24. I couldn’t find or draw the audible symbol in
this explanation. It is the third button from the left in the picture below).

Bootup Display shows all LCDs.
