Exegesis
Hazrat Luqman is advising his son to establish his namaz and further advises others to
establish their namaz. Further he is advising his son to preach for the pious acts among
people. Also there are advises of Luqman to his son that he should preach that one
should not act upon the evil paths which are haram (unlawful or prohibited in Islam) in
the Din of Allah. And wa/mur (and command) bialmaAAroofi (good), tell them to do
noble and pious acts in the world. Luqman is advising that may be he may face hardships
in keeping people away from the evils, he must not lose his heart, and he must face all
hardships with great patience and fortitude. Luqman is advising his son that when a
person does good, noble, and pious acts in this mortal world, he naturally gets agonies in
this regard while preaching others to leave the bad and evil activities – it is all from the
design of Allah. So Luqman is saying his son to be patient in preaching noble and pious
activities.
It is the nature of the people that when they do evil activities and when someone comes
and forbids them for not doing those, they become angry and violent on them. Luqman is
telling that it is the nature of human aptitude. So in all the circumstances for the sake of
Allah he should not lose his courage and patience.
Patience is a great entity of the nature that it serves every purpose of human nature. If
somebody does sabr – exercises patience, Allah in return of it, gives pleasantries and
paradise. Allah tells that the people who are sabir – patient, when hard circumstances
encounter them, they exercise full patience. So Allah is saying His prophet (Salla 'Llahu
'alayhi wa sallam) to give them glad tidings that there stay would be in paradise. Such
people do understand that they and their every move and thing goes to Allah Subhana-
Wa-Ta’aala. So such people deserve to be granted and showered with the blessings of
Allah. And Allah does not ignore them. They get good regards and rewards from Allah
Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala. Allah cares about them and sends kindness in this world too.
There are so many things in this world, which are not visible to the human naked eye.
For example if there is sun and it is visible then it is the proof that sun prevails
somewhere. So the kindness of Allah is not like visible objects as there are other
heavenly bodies. It is hidden and it does work according to the Law of Requital. It
distributes results and consequences to the doers of their own form with particular
category. It does not let any breath and movement of any life go without any result. And
what the blessings of this system are showered on the person, these shower without
letting him know but the results are sometimes visible to him and sometimes not. So
with the sensible senses a man can visualize the results and changes in material form.
Only the narrow-minded people who remain exhausted and restless can not see the results
of the activities what they do. And it is with them, visible to senses, but despite the fact
they are unable to see them. What he gets is the result of his some kind of thought or
activity. It is all from Allah and its great error free system to deliver fortunes or
misfortunes etc. The people who are devout and fervor in their worships, see the tell tale
sings of kindness of Allah and prostrate in the court of Allah in order to express their
gratitude to Allah. The prophets always expressed their gratitude to Allah for having
kind blessings from Allah. Prophet Nooh was given the name “Abden Shakoora” And it

is not important that one should always go in sujood to express his gratitude to Allah, in
our heart through tongues we may also render our thanks to Allah.
That’s why Allah says not only be patient but also preach to be patient. Every particle of
the body should render thanks to Allah on receiving and perceiving the blessings of Allah
Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala. We should preach for Haq and Sabr too.
One important point that it was not a new idea after the advent of Islam to establish
namaz, it is pre-Islamic notional preach. The verse of Luqman is the proof in this regard.
Allah is telling that Luqman advises his son to establish the system of namaz in complete
form. Actually namaz makes our body and soul purified. To be always purified is
imperative for a moumin. Namaz also expels the evils descended form the skies.
Obscene and vulgar thoughts are barricaded through the namaz. Allah has given us five
times for the procedure to be purified so that if we may derail we may be put again on the
right tracks of evil free life. And when one develops and understands the basics of Din,
then the duty comes on him to train and guide according to the holy Quran his friends,
colleagues, locality, country or tribe. So the message of Luqman is the message of
Quran, that if a man goes on the right path of light of Allah, it is not sufficient to go on
the right path but also others should be asked to follow the holy Quran. It is too much
important to remind others what is Haq and what is the evil distinguished from bad.
Allah loves His creature that’s why He intends that there should be no evil in the system
of people. That’s why preaching has been given important value in Din-e-Islam. Every
person wishes to take others too with him to the paradise. And that is only possible if
others are told how to get and earn the great life of paradise. So it is not important to go
to paradise alone but also it should be told to others. Due to this a well-knitted Islamic
society takes place. This is the recognition of a moumin that he does understand what is
good and what is bad. Together with it he also preaches and tells others about the
difference of these different activities.
The main and prime aim of moumineen is that they establish namaz and pay zakat
permanently. Also they do the humble obedience to the prophet (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa
sallam). The opponents of the moumineen are the hypocrites. The hypocrites are
uniform in their thought and actions. They belong to the same community. One
characteristic of a hypocrite would be the characteristic of other hypocrite. These people
incite others to adapt the evil ways of life. These people urge others not to do pious and
noble activities in the society. These people act in silence. They maneuver the activities
and plan secretly to destroy our talents and potentials for Din. Their hands are tied, it
means that they do not spend their money or wealth for the sake of Allah. Allah told us
the signs of the hypocrites.
To the mounineen Allah says do pious and virtuous acts, and preach them to others. Do
avoid evil activities and evil system, which would destroy the mansion of our noble
efforts. We have been asked to stop the evil and promote the virtues. Allah says to us
that we belong to great ummah. Because we make others do noble and pious deeds. May
Allah protect us from the evils! Allah says that great ummah has been convened so that
they may tell others what is piety and what is the way leads to hell. We have to save
others from going to wrong destructive path of life. The moumineen firmly believe in

Allah and His systems of the holy Quran. The holy Quran is only for him who firmly and
every moment believes in its luminous system for the welfare and survival of the
mankind. And also does practically to spread the light of the holy Quran. And he also
should remain far from the concept to bring any other parallel to Allah.
Imam Hussain (AS) proved that he belongs to the ummah who stand firmly before the
Iblis mighty powers. Other Muslim communities also prevailed but the community of
Imam Hussain (AS) proved to be the best one in accordance with the Quran. Imam
Hussain (AS) did not think about his life, he offered it for the noble cause of Allah.
Subhan Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala.
Insaan ko bedaar tu ho layney do
Her Qaum pukarey GI Hussain humaray heain

Let the conscious of man wake

Every nation would call Hussain is ours

Hussain gave us the message that one should raise his all powers to fight with evil to
defend Haq. We should support Haq like Hussain. Amirul Moumineen said were you
not present when Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam) picked him up in hands
and said “ he asked did Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa
sallam) do or not? The addressee of Imam Ali (AS) replied that because he had become

old and he forgot the incident of that kind. Then on it Imam Ali (AS) said “ he
was hiding Haq after having that recognized. For it he gave him a sign, when he would
try to hide in garment, could not hide. It is mentioned in the history that the old man got
the white patch on his forehead till his death. This incident is the proof that if Haq is
recognized and if it is hidden then the torment from Allah is ready for him. There is also
a proof that the wilayat of Ali if it is hidden, the wrath of Allah would destroy us.
The incident of prophet Shoeb is present in the holy Quran. When prophet Shoeb was
directed to come out of his home, because the torment of Allah was about to take place.
He was also directed not to tell about that news to others, since they were going to be the
victim of that torment from Allah. He asked that would the torment be on all people?
The prophet Shoeb told Allah that there are many people in the crowd who are pious in
their acts. Then Allah gave firm commandment to him that he should have acted what
was being told to him. Allah made clear to him that because those good peopler were
though good but they were silent on watching the evils of them. They did not show
hatred but remained mixed with them. Allah told the prophet the logical cause to send
His torment on them. So if we are not in position to oppose them or to show or hatred
then at least we should send our curses on such people. Because if the evil spread it
would produce its effect on all of us. And if the virtues spread, these would give its
beneficial and genial effect to all of us.
Always remember that namaz or roza is not only Maruf. Other commandments of Allah
are also important to be implemented in the practical society of us. Basic human and

divine rights are also important to make them fulfilled. Since the human society needs
decent and civilized morals and religious affairs according to the holy Quran.
Allah also told us that before people we should not be stiff-necked. We should not be
arrogant. We should not nurse the nature of haughtiness. It is haram (unlawful or
prohibited in Islam) in Islam. Subhan Allah (all glory to Allah). Allah has given us this
message through the holy verse of Luqman. And the same message is being told by
Luqman to his son. Luqman is crushing the philosophy of superiority complex. A man
should be humble. Also he advised his son not to walk on the earth having his chin up in
the air. This is the low profile of the human nature.
There is one more message that nothing would be detrimental to Allah. Only we would
be in lose. If someone became the murtad, no matter for Allah. In case of evils in the
society Allah brings then another nation to take the charge of the previous people in order
to implement the laws of Quran and to set the caravan of humanity on the right path
towards paradise. Moumin remains passive and humble but combatant before the
fiendish powers. Allah hates the person who loves his own pride and prejudice. These
are the diseases for a nation. That’s why Luqman is advising his son to be passive and
humble and also saying that one should spread the light of high morals of obedience to
Allah, and avoid shirk. This attitude gives us fazeelat. Others should recognize our
fazeelat in us. We should not prove our fazeelat to others. Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu
'alayhi wa sallam) did not try to prove his fazeelat. Even the kuffar acknowledged the
fazeelat of Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam). Fazeelat is glory and grandeur.
Every domestic and social act of Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam) showed and
proved his glory and grandeur.
Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam) used to sit among his companions in such a
mixed way that most of the people would ask the recognition of prophet (Salla 'Llahu
'alayhi wa sallam).
Further would be Inshallah discussed in other lecture with full relevancy of the matter.
