MGA TINUGYANAN (STEWARDS)
Madamo nga beses sa akon ministeryo
bilang bag-o anay nga kura paroko sa
parokya ni San Antonio de Padua nga
nakalibot kami sa tatlo ka tuig sa mga
barangay kon gab-i sa pagpakonpesar,
paghatag seminar kag paghalad sang
misa. Duha kami ka grupo nga ang isa
upod sa akon kag ang isa upod sa akon
assistant. Diri akon madumduman
nga ang pari indi isahanon sa iya
ministeryo labi na sa mga
kabaryohanan. Ang pari may iya siya
nga “team of evangelizers.”
Kon ang ebanghelyo nagasiling “sing

Ang konsepto sang “gintugyanan”
(stewardship) nagakahulugan nga

“talent” and “treasure.” Gina-

nga naghatag sa parokya sang mga
importante nga bagay (land
resources) kag ila “regular
contribution.” Apang kon kaisa ang
Pinoy maisipon gid nga kon amot ang
hambalan kwarta dayon ang isipon.
Kon tiempo kag abilidad o kaalam ang
hambalan, madali magsukot o
magpasuhot agud makaganar sing
dayaw o may iganar. Ang importante
sa tanan amo ang pag-ululutod, pag-
ambitanay, pag-respetohanay, pag-
ambiyanay, pagsalig sa isa kag isa.

First Day
For Ardent Faith
St. Vincent Ferrer, you were born of deeply religious mother; from
her you received the Holy Faith; you learned to love God and to
pray. At a young age, you were seen kneeling in the front of the
statue of Mary. Your soul was supernaturally carried towards the
things on High. Despite the high cost, you answered your voca-
tion! Against many obstacles and contradictions, you had to fight
and suffer to become the perfect priest which you were. But your
deep spirit of faith supported you in all these battle. O Great Saint
you know the desire of my soul; I would like to serve God better;
for him I have receined so many good things. For this, obtain for
me more courage and especially the depth of faith. Many of my
thoughts , words, and actions are useless for my sanctification
and for my salvation, because this supernatural spirit does not stir
up my life. Help me to be better in the future.
I have confidence in your intercession. Pray for me during this

Second Day
For complete Trust in God
St. Vincent Ferrer, what confidence the people had in your prayers!
You were always surrounded by implroing souls, who appealed to
you as they would have appealed to Jesus himself during his earthly
life. And you, O good Saint, gave them hope by your words, which
were full of love for God. You, who had always counted entirely on
the heart of God, obtain for me a deep filial trust in his Provi-
dence.
As the hope of divine good fills my heart, give me courage and
help me to always obey the Commandments of God. Holy Priest
of St. Dominic, I have confidence in your intercession. Pray for me

Third Day
For a True Love of neighbor
St. Vincent Ferrer because of your love of your neighbor. You could
not preach on the love of God without burning tears of love. Dur-
ing your last years, it seemed as though you could not talk about
anything else. Thus you sacrificed yourself to your neighbor by
consoling, absolving and sanctifying them to the limits of your
strength. Your charity inspires me to greater loe of God, a love
which is shown more by acts than by words. Help me to love my
neighbor generously as Christ loves them.

For Horror of Sin
St. Vincent Ferrer, you were so adamant against sin, yet so sym-

as if you were still alive, as if I were kneeling at your feet and you
could hear me. Bend towards me, listen to the repentant confi-
dence for the weaknesses and miserable deeds of mine. Priest of
the Lord, inexhaustible Confessor, obtain for me the Horror of sin.
You wanted us first to avoid the occasion of sin. I want to take
your advice and make the resolution to break bad habits and to
avoid the dangerous occasions of sin.
Help me today, to examine my conscience. Holy priestof St.

Confessor of Souls
O powerful of God’s wordsyou knew how important a good con-

Real Presence
O Holy Priest and Preacher, whose only comfort inthis world was
the real presence of Jesus in the tabernacle, was it not your great
joy to distribute the Eucharist to the people who visited you? You
refused Communion to the souls of goodwill you opened wide the
doors of the Eucharistic Feast. You, who eaxh day at Holy Mass
received Hoply communion, with great love, give me some of your
fervor.
With freedom from mortal sin, obtain for me a sincere desire to
profit from receiving Holy Communion. Holy Priest of St. Dominic,

Cathiloce Church which you loved dearly.
O powerful protector, inspire us always to seek unity and peace in
our communities. Encourage us to love the pope, our bishops and
priest so that with them, we can form a happy and faithful commu-
nities of believers. I have confidence in your intercession. Pray for

For Purity
O St. Vincent Ferrer, a witness of your life made this magnificent
praise of you; “We would have taken him for an angel in a mortal
body.” Such praise manifests the edification you exude to others
with modesty and the exquisite purity radiating rom your body.
With such charm and with such enthusiasm you preached to oth-
ers about these beautiful virtues, which you said resembled the
perfume of a blooming vineyard. I beg you to join your entreaties
to those of Mary Immaculate in order that I may be guarded al-
ways, and carry the purity of heart as God requests of me to have.
You, who have directed so many souls towards the heights of vir-
tues, defend me in times of temptetions and obtain for me the
stregth to conquer them.

For the Desire of Heaven
O St. Vincent Ferrer, during the time you were on earth, you used
to repeat in your dejected hours, “One will rest in the other life.” It
is done, you are in eternal peace, and eternal happiness. I desire
to follow you one day. Until then, I hear you sayin to me: “You
should work and fight as long as you are in the world.”
Teach me then to work for the salvation of my soul, to spread the
good news and good example and to do good towards those around
me in order that I will receive the happiness of the Elect with you.

doomed to disappointment; trust
in your friends and they will die
and leave you; trust in money and
you may have it taken away from
you; trust in reputation and some
slanderous tongue may blast it;
but trust in God, you are never to
be confounded in time or
eternity.”

To think of God as a mother, so loving,
so compassionate, is a moving experi-
ence. The Prophet Isaiah in the first
reading says: “Even should she (mother)
forget, I will never forget you. See upon
then palms of my hands, I have written
your name...” However, this image no
matter how beautiful it is not a perfect
one. In real life situations, there are
mothers who destroy their babies
through abortion. There are mothers
who abandoned their children and there
are times as we heard of mothers who
killed their children. God is never like a
bad mother. No human image or human
word is adequate enough to picture God.
He transcends all human experience.
He is more good and compassionate
than we can picture him.
Experience tells us that God is so loving
and provident with us. He wants us to
be free of care and anxiety just as the
flowers and the birds mentioned in
today’s gospel. But there is something
wrong with this image. The beautiful
flowers we see in the bases in our home
were picked from the garden but finally
will wither. In one time or another we
came across of the bird lying dead on
the ground. What would happen to us if
we try to live as these flowers and birds?
We have to earn a livelihood. We have
to have the means to take care of our-
selves and those we love or else we die.
Being birds of the air and lilies of the
field is a kind of a wishful thinking but
it is not a realistic one.
Our relationship with God starts with
the reality that we are in total indepen-
dence of him – a truth effected by sin.
It is only through Baptism that our re-
lationship with him starts and is real-
ized. It is He wants us to be with him.
Yet, in spite of this fact, we still want to
live our life in freedom. We believe in
ourselves – responsible and mature
human beings. If we, however, want to
continue our growth in Him, we must
have to start letting go. We must have
to give up living our own lives.
Prayer is a dialogue between two per-
sons in love. God wants us to go to
spend more time with him in prayer. He
wants us to learn how to be completely
dependent on him just like any human
baby dependent on his parents. In the
gospel version of Mark Jesus told us to
be like little children. The images he
used in today’s gospel have the same
message as his command in mark’s ver-
sion. We should then become like little
children because God is more loving
and caring than we can ever picture
him.
Have we not notice that every time we
celebrate the Mass, there is the pres-
ence of the sign of what God is and what
should be our relationship with him?
This is manifested in the gift of the Eu-
charist – the precious Body and Blood
of His Son as our nourishment. No price
can be tagged to this most precious gift
God is giving us. It is “gratis et amore.”
Just like the birds of the air and the lil-
ies of the field God feeds us with this
nourishment even though we have not
sown it nor did we gather it into our
barns.
The gospel reading seems to be unreal-
istic in standards of the world by the
pictures it shows – our complete depen-
dence on God. It, however, tells us an
important truth that we must have to
grow in that dependence. And life is
concerned with growing up. Growing is
a long and tedious process. This growth
is an upward surge towards heaven
where we are to be embraced an all-lov-
ing God who is both a Mother and a Fa-
ther to us.
St. Augustine once said, “God who
made us without us would not
save us without us.”

Once, a man said, “If I had
some extra money, I’d give it
to God, but I have just
enough to support myself
and my family.” And the
same man said, “If I had
some extra time, I’d give it to
God, but every minute is
taken up with my job, my
family, my clubs, and what
have you—every single
minute.” And the same man
said, “If I had a talent I’d give
it to God, but I have no lovely
voice; I have no special skill;
I’ve never been able to lead a
group; I can’t think cleverly
or quickly, the way I would
like to.”
And God was touched, and
although it was unlike him,
God gave that man money,
time, and a glorious talent.
And then He waited, and
waited, and waited.....And
then after a while, He
shrugged His shoulders, and
He took all those things right
back from the man, the
money, the time and the
glorious talent. After a while,
the man sighed and said, “If
I only had some of that
money back, I’d give it to
God. If I only had some of
that time, I’d give it to God.
If I could only rediscover that
glorious talent, I’d give it to
God.”
And God said, “Oh, shut up.”
And the man told some of his
friends, “You know, I’m not
so sure that I believe in God
anymore.”
