Title: MANUFACTURING AND MARKETING SCENTED MOSQUITO

REPELLENT CANDLES IN BARANGAY MAYBUNGA, PASIG CITY

Statement of the Problem

This feasibility study determined the ways to establish a manufacturing

business of scented mosquito-repellent candles made from Neem extract.

Methods and Procedures

The proponents used the descriptive method. The Sloven’s formula

showed a representative sample size of 394. The stratified random sampling

technique was used in selecting the respondents who participated in the study.

Summary of Findings

1. The Marketing Aspect shows that there are high demands in the market

that are unsatisfied because of the gap 2,927,736 units. The product is a

scented mosquito repellent candles made from neem extract. The average

selling price is P125. The distribution channel is indirect and direct.

Flyers, magazines ad, display posters and internet ad are the promotion

techniques.

2. The Management Aspect shows that the proposed business will be a

partnership. It will employ a total of 6 employees.

3. The Technical Aspect shows that the location of the proposed business is

in Barangay Maybunga, Pasig City. Production capacity is 31,440

annually with a provision of 10% increase every year.

4. The Financial aspect shows that the proposed business is determined to

gain increasing profits every year of operations.

5. The Socio-Economic Aspect shows that the business will provide jobs to

the unemployed, helps to lessen dengue cases in the Philippines, and pay

taxes to the government.

Conclusions

1. That the proposed Marketing Aspect has been proved to be feasible

because of the unique characteristic and benefit it offers to the

consumer. The innovative ability to repel mosquitoes with catchy

design and great scent will definitely attract customers and make them

choose the product over its competitors.

2. That the proposed business in terms of Management Aspect has been

proven to be feasible because the management will provide their

employees and workers with compensation and benefit that is

mandated and with accordance to the law. The Management will also

provide them safe and comfortable working environment.

3. That the proposed business in terms of Technical Aspect has been

proven to be feasible because the product is made from raw materials

that are easily available in the market. Moreover, since melted wax can

be use again for another candle-making process, it will cut down

production expenses and therefore maximize the profit. The location of

the plant is also strategically placed together with the office for an

efficient and convenient business transaction with the buying

customers.

4. That the proposed business in terms of Financial Aspect has been

proven to be feasible because the proponents prepared 5-year financial

projection for the cost raw materials and other expenses. The

projection showed that the cost of raw materials that are needed in

candle-making process would not significantly increase. The

Operational expenses however, would remain tolerable and can be

supported by the capital and increasing profit of the proposed business.

5. That the proposed business in terms of Socio-Economic Aspect is

proven to be feasible because the taxes generated from the business

will greatly help the economy of the Philippines. It will create jobs and

opportunities for Filipino people and at the same time due to the

products’ unique ability to repel mosquitoes, the probability rate of

mosquito diseases will be reduced making the society much safer to

live in.

Recommendations

1. It is recommended that the business focuses in producing high quality

candles with unique and creative designs. The special benefit of the

product with its distinctive design and fresh scent will attract the customer

to purchase the product instantaneously, while the quality and affordability

of the product will promote repeat purchase.

2. It is recommended that in order to maintain minimum cost of labor,

employees are encouraged to perform multiple functions as the need

arises. There should also be a monthly job evaluation to monitor the

performance and efficiency of each employee with respect to their job

accountability.

3. It is recommended for the business to order raw materials in bulk in order

to take advantage of discounts that are only offered in large quantity

purchases. Furthermore, to minimize waste and at the same time reduce

expenses, excess wax should be used again for another candle-making

process.

4. It is recommended to add higher mark up to the product in order to have a

return of investment in a short period of time.

5. It is recommended that the business observes proper waste disposal. The

surroundings of business location must always remain clean. Moreover,

the business should, for all times, conduct their business in compliant and

with accordance to the law.
