t six-foot, nine inches
tall, he is the tallest
orthopedic surgeon in
Brooklyn.

on the basketball team, and
studied German.
Today, the New Jersey
native treats patients who suf-
fer with sports injuries, joint
pain, torn ligaments, chronic
pain, and inflammation.
Pain is life-altering because
it affects everything you do.
Common tasks such as carry-
ing bags of groceries can hurt
the shoulders. Walking to the
store can cause pain in hips
and knees. We don’t realize
the workout we give our joints
until they start to “tell” us that
something is wrong.

The service is personalized.
There are no physician assist-
ants here, says Dr. Kubiak. You
see doctors every time you
come to visit. As a result, doc-
tors know their patients well,
and can better explain treat-
ment options.
The facility looks at all
concerns from a non-surgi-
cal viewpoint first, says Dr.
Kubiak, as long as such con-
ditions are warranted, treat-
ing patients with medication
and therapies. Should surgery
be needed, it’s comforting to
know that the most recent
technologies allow for much

The extensive staff of pro-
fessionals include Dr. Michael
Trepeta, a pediatric ortho-
pedic surgeon, Dr. Robert
Hecht, and Dr. Andranik
Khatchatrian. In July a new
associate orthopedic doctor,
fluent in Russian and Arabic,
will join the practice, spe-
cializing in trauma and joint
replacement, says Dr. Epstein.
The office staff is fluent in
Russian and Spanish.
Interestingly, Dr. Barry
Jupiter, one of the found-
ing physicians of Island
